How to travel to Las Vegas for the U2 Sphere shows

Las Vegas is one of the most popular travel locations for tourists in the world, even more so in February with the Super Bowl coming to town. But there are no shortages of hotels, Airbnbs, and flights.

We've picked out a few travel and accommodation options to help you plan your trip once you've picked up your U2 tickets. That being said, if you're flexible on dates, it might be worth considering if you can save a significant stack on travel/hotels on different dates and weigh that up with the ticket costs to get the best overall price for your trip.

Who is opening for U2's tour?

The opening act for U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere 2024 concert dates is Pauli "the PSM" Lovejoy, who also opened for the band during the 2023 leg of their residency. Pauli "the PSM" Lovejoy is a musician known for songs like "I DON'T CARE" and "Milkyway."

The U2 Sphere residency is confined to the venue in Las Vegas, Nevada, so no international tour dates will be associated with this concert series due to the unique nature of the venue.

U2 has no separate international concert dates confirmed for 2024, but the band could still announce additional dates after their Sphere residency concludes.

U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere

U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere #40

'This is 40'

One for the ages on Saturday night, never to be forgotten by those of us lucky to be there, with some big surprises and big emotions. Onstage surprises included longtime collaborator and friend Daniel Lanois to play on 'One' and, via remote recording, Neil Finn for a duet of his 'Don't Dream It's Over'. And a surprising and moving closing for the 18,000-strong congregation in the 'Elvis cathedral'.

'There might be an actual encore after this', Bono mused as the band began 'Beautiful Day', the last song of U2:UV set. After a snippet of 'Gloria' and The Beatles' 'Blackbird', Edge and Adam switched sides, and a roar went up as fans recognized what that stagecraft signalled… the final song of the 40th and final night of U2:UV would be '40'.

'It's been 40 days and 40 nights in the desert — what's a fella with a messianic complex gonna do?'  asked Bono. 'This is a song we wrote in 40 minutes. We had 40 minutes on the 'War' album left to record, opened up the sacred text to the Psalm of David, and just kinda read it out— that was the lyric. This is “40”.'

As the band left the stage one by one — Bono first, then Adam, Bram, and finally the Edge, waiving one last time as he carried his guitar offstage — there were more than a few tear-streaked faces, singing the familiar litany:  How long to sing this song? How long to see this song?

Until we meet again….safe home.

If you were at the show in Vegas, add your own review and upload your photos below .

What Bono Said

Before 'Desire': 'You, sir, have run away with the circus…On the drums, this is Bram van den Berg — an extraordinary man. Take the microphone, if you would, sir', he said, as Bram stood to speak.

Bram:  'Where to start? Thank you, I guess. I mean, thank you guys, and Larry, for trusting me with this legacy. I [could have] been a total weirdo. You didn't do a background check, did you? Oh, I am a weirdo? It was a freakshow, right?'

Bono: 'If you had a job in the circus, what would you choose, what sort of a circus performer would you be? Let's say a musical contortionist? Tightrope walker, somethinlikethat?'

Bram: 'Safety net'.

'Before 'Don't Dream It's Over': 'The U2UV experience is kind of a tightly constructed show, but as it's our last night we wondered if it might be alright to experiment on ya a little bit'. Bono explained they had  something special in store tonight for their cover of Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over', which they've been dedicating to Alexei Navalny since his death on February 16.

'The idea is to record something special to honor Alexei Navalny's widow, Yulia [Navalnaya], who's continuing a fight against Vladimir Putin for a free, free Russia, which is what we want for the rest of the people….We got a beautiful email from Neil Finn, who wrote this bewilderingly beautiful song and he attached to the email a version of the song that he said we could play — it's a new version that he did and we thought if we're gonna record, maybe if you'd be on that recording and we could make the session the last night kind-of recording session and dedicate it to Yulia. It goes, 'Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over…' and it's a song about freedom'.

'Comin' in from Auckland, New Zealand, this is Neil Finn', he said, as a recorded track of Finn singing the first lines  began to play.

Before Acrobat: 'Shall we wake the baby up? Fuckin' right we'll wake the baby up!'

After Acrobat:  'Was that intense enough for ya?'

To Coldplay front man Chris Martin, after singing a snippet of 'Yellow' during 'All I Want Is You': 'Happy Birthday, Chris Martin!'

To 'Mrs. The Edge', after 'Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World': 'Morleigh Steinberg — love you!'

To Dr. Jill Biden, while introducing 'All I Want Is You', dedicated to all the great women in their lives : 'And one woman in particular who's with us tonight — she's a teacher, she's your First Lady. This is for Jill Biden!'

To Yulia Navalnaya, at the end of 'Don't Dream It's Over', in a chant joined by the audience: 'Yulia! Yulia! Yulia! Beautiful'.

To Willie Williams during 'Love Is Blindness': 'Thank you, Willie Williams, for this blue sky'.

To  Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, during 'Beautiful Day': 'We believe in you…David Grohl…yes we do'.

To former Rolling Stone Magazine chief Jann Simon Wenner, during 'Atomic City': 'For everyone…for Jann SimON…SiMON!'

U2 to Perform for the First Time in 4 Years in a New Las Vegas Venue Opening This Fall

“MSG Sphere’s advanced technology allows a legendary band like U2 to bring its music to life in entirely new ways."

Pratik Chorge/Hindustan Times via Getty Images

Legendary rock band U2 has apparently found what it’s looking for – and it's on the Las Vegas strip.

The group, who announced their highly-anticipated return to Vegas via a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday, will be performing for the first time in four years at the brand new MSG Sphere , a state-of-the-art 20,000-guest capacity arena coming soon to the Venetian this fall.

“MSG Sphere’s advanced technology allows a legendary band like U2 to bring its music to life in entirely new ways," MSG's executive chairman and CEO James Dolan, said in a press release. The sphere is a new medium that will redefine entertainment.”

The eye-catching sphere-shaped venue appears to be a concert-goers dream featuring a ginormous 16k wrap-around screen, 4-D effects, and top of the line sound technologies. Not to mention, the company said it’s the largest spherical-shaped structure on earth.

While Paul David Hewson, better known by his stage name “Bono”, is set to perform, the Achtung Baby Live tour will go on without band member and drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who is recuperating from a recent surgery, the press release noted.

“It’s going to take all we’ve got to approach the Sphere without our bandmate in the drum seat, but Larry has joined us in welcoming Bram van dem Berg, who is a force in his own right,” the band members said in a joint statement.

The band added that the Vegas show has been in the works for awhile and they are excited to get back to their fans. (And perhaps U2 fans will recall that U2's music video for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m looking For” was filmed on the streets of Sin City in 1987.)

The winners will also get to experience the band's hometown with a trip to Dublin, Ireland, where they will visit the town that has inspired them via a written itinerary from the band sharing their favorite spots.

To enter to win, listen to iHeartRadio on-air for the key words, and enter at iHeartRadio.com/U2 .

In a press release, Bono, The Edge and Adam said of the upcoming run of shows, "U2 hasn't played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert… We're the right band, ACHTUNG BABY the right album, and Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level… That's what U2's been trying to do all along with our satellite stages and video installations, most memorably on the ZOO TV Tour, which ended in Tokyo 30 years ago this Fall. Sphere is more than just a venue, it's a gallery and U2's music is going to be all over the walls."

The Edge added, "The beauty of Sphere is not only the ground-breaking technology that will make it so unique, with the world’s most advanced audio system, integrated into a structure which is designed with sound quality as a priority; it’s also the possibilities around immersive experience in real and imaginary landscapes. In short, it’s a canvas of an unparalleled scale and image resolution and a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We all thought about it and decided we’d be mad not to accept the invitation."

The Sphere in Las Vegas really is a 'quantum leap' for live music: Inside the first shows

trip to vegas to see u2

LAS VEGAS − Last September, U2 changed the concert experience as we knew it.

On a stage designed as a turntable, the illustrious rockers broke into “Zoo Station” and the concrete walls towering over them trembled and broke apart.

Or at least it looked that way thanks to a massive 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED screen.

As a static backdrop hissed, Bono roared: “I’m ready! Ready for what’s next.”

It was an apt proclamation for the first concert at Las Vegas’ new toy, the Sphere , an imposing domed venue on the Strip that promises to be the next frontier in live entertainment through design and technology.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Since September, Phish and Dead & Company have also had turns at the Sphere, and The Eagles have announced their run will start Sept. 20. This prompted us to ask if the $2.3 billion venue is really the "quantum leap forward" The Edge described to USA TODAY before that first show, or another Vegas landmark where you can take a spectacular photo?

After seeing all three bands at the Sphere and talking with fans and stakeholders, we can say it turns the mundane into magical.

What is inside the Las Vegas Sphere?

On the Vegas skyline, the Sphere is the rotund counter to its towering neighbors The Venetian and Wynn Las Vegas.

It's the size of two city blocks and is taller than a football field is long. The Sphere has the seating capacity of an arena with all of the jaw-dropping wonder of a "Star Wars" ride at a Disney theme park, felt from the moment fans enter the futuristic atrium.

Built over four years, the Sphere is a uniquely fashioned venu e with immersive sound from 167,000 individual speakers installed behind a 160,000-square-foot (about 3½ acres) LED screen with stunning 16k resolution.

The encompassing visuals are dizzying in the best way, whether they're the Elvis-inspired video creating a swooping feeling of movement during U2's "Even Better Than the Real Thing," the "scaffolding" that parted at the start of Dead & Company's “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” to display a quaint row of Haight-Ashbury houses then a hovering image of Earth's atmosphere or Phish's amber-lit floating fabric pods during "Leaves."

The "beamforming" sound technology in the venue allows sound to be controlled and targeted directly to certain sections, which Phish employed to head trippy effect. The absence of sound bleed from inside the dome into the concourse is another extraordinary element. Take a step out of the seating area and hear nothing but ambient background. Step back into the venue and feel an aural bear hug.

Why the Sphere is special for musicians: 'It's not just plug and play'

As Dead & Company frontman Bob Weir told USA TODAY in an email, the Sphere unlocks creative boundaries to "take storytelling in live performance to the level of opera – maybe even beyond. U2 and Phish got the ball rolling. Now it’s our turn."

Because it can take up to a year to create specialized content to accompany live productions, the Sphere is using the residency model – ideally at least eight shows – as its blueprint.

The U2 extravaganza, which found the veteran hitmakers performing all of their 1991 album, “Achtung Baby,” along with a set of hits, extended from a rollout of five shows to 40. By its March 2 finale, about 800,000 fans experienced its marvel.

“It’s definitely not a touring venue. It’s not just plug and play,” said Josephine Vaccarello, executive vice president, live, for MSG Entertainment, who oversees concert bookings for the Sphere. “We need an act that has the fan base and the following, the artist that has the creative vision for what we can do with these creative tools and the journey they want to take their fans on.”

Dead & Company, which has dates through Aug. 10 , demonstrated the nimbleness of the Sphere's technology during its May 25 show when a camera atop the venue's roof captured a photo of the full moon. The image was quickly uploaded during the concert and appeared, along with a close-up of Weir, during “Black Peter.”

"Live concerts have always been the ultimate expression for music, and part of the joy of creating shows is making the most of what’s available in order to build a world with and around the music," John Mayer, Dead & Company guitarist and singer, said in an email to USA TODAY. "Having the Sphere as this giant new set of tools is a spectacular opportunity for musicians to tell a deeper, more immersive story. I’m honored to be one of the first explorers of this new frontier."

The Sphere offers an experience that's 'completely different' for fans

U2 fan Alejandro Familiar attended three of the band's shows, twice among the general-admission throng on the floor and once from the steep 400-level.

The Las Vegas resident is a devotee of the Irish rockers, whom he's seen at least seven times in stadiums, which made the 20,000 concert capacity at the Sphere a relatively intimate experience – and one that enthralled him.

"The technology is crazy , the sound is completely different than anything I've experienced in every other venue. It's just a whole immersive experience. (The band) can make you feel like you're in space, at a beach, they can transport you anywhere," he said. "You're used to going to a venue and looking at the band and maybe the guitars on stage for a minute, but there's no other place to look. Now, the band is what you pay the least attention to because of everything around you, but I don't think that's a bad thing."

Familiar surmised that some U2 fans – like himself – went to multiple shows so they could focus on different elements of the concert each time, as well as from various vantage points. (Be aware that the visuals can be obstructed by an overhang above the 100-level from about rows 24 to 37. Tickets are categorized as limited view.)

"It was a different experience sitting up top, like being in a huge movie theater. The band looks small from there and the stage looks really small, but the sound and visuals, that's what makes it," he said. "And you can be listening to a song and then they'll blast (images of) giant Bonos and the band on the screen and you go, 'Ah, OK, there they are.'"

Sphere challenges: 'We'll continue to learn'

Jennifer Koester, president and chief operating officer of Sphere, said nearly 1 million guests traveled through the venue by the fiscal third quarter that ended March 31. Yet some skeptics remain.

For those who wonder just what the big deal is about a venue with groovy technology , extremely vertical seating and pristine sound, it’s difficult to verbalize how transformative it is to feel, see and hear a show at the Sphere.

But as Vaccarello summarized: “Seeing it on videos is not the same as experiencing it in person. Once people experience it, they fall in love because it touches all of the senses.”

Along with the indisputable wonders of the Sphere, though, some operational hiccups left some guests with a frustrated impression.

At several U2 concerts and during Phish’s opening show , the ingress left fans crammed on the pedestrian bridge from inside the Venetian to the Sphere’s entry for 45 to 90 minutes. The first night of Dead & Company, the lines to the men’s bathroom snaked into the atrium.

These “pain points,” as Koester calls them, were addressed by directing fans to other entry areas outside the venue for U2, opening doors earlier for Phish the second night of their residency, and reversing one of the women’s restrooms – not quite as busy at a Dead show – to accommodate men.

The venue has also worked to offer reasonable parking options , including valet and space for limos, taxis and tour group buses. Several hundred spaces are available on site at the Sphere, with concert parking starting around $50 (it's $18 for the ongoing Sphere Experience with Darren Aronofsky’s breathtaking film “Postcard From Earth.” ). The self-park garages at the adjoining Venetian and Palazzo are a minimum of $23 (event rates can vary), though casino visitors holding a certain level of player's club card can park free. The rideshare scene is typical of any major event, with significant congestion at peak entry and exit times.

As next-level as the Sphere is, it manages logistical issues with customer experiences faced by every event venue.

“Those are all adjustments,” Koester said. “And we’ll continue to learn.”

What will the Sphere be in five years?

Only live event ticket buyers will experience the sensory engulfment found inside the Sphere. But anyone can gape at the continually glistening digital exosphere, whether they are a photo-snapping tourist or one of the many airplane passengers scrambling for their phones on the descent to capture the newest landmark.

The Sphere's exosphere has shown playful emojis , glaring eyeballs , logos of its musical inhabitants, adorable memes , advertising and, coming July 4, student art . Only the truly apathetic can't be impressed.

The Sphere will also soon emit sound from its skeleton , an addition that has piqued the curiosity of some and pre-irritated others. The feeling among Sphere brass is that Las Vegas is already a cauldron of sound, so what's a little more?

But as eye-catching as the exosphere is, the future of the venue is all about what happens inside the dome.

The initial trio of Sphere bands leaned toward a middle-aged demographic, and the fourth, the Eagles , will park at the venue for eight shows beginning Sept. 20. Tickets are on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 21 via ticketmaster.com.

But there are plans to diversify the offerings and announce a few more performers, as well as other age-spanning multimedia events this year.

“We’re talking to a huge variety of artists. We’re just scratching the surface,” Vaccarello said.

One future ambition is being able to “flip” the venue within a single day; perhaps have a showing Postcard From Earth” – which plays most days there isn’t a concert at the venue – during the day and hold a live event that night.

The staging of the NHL Draft June 28-29 will mark the first live broadcast from the Sphere. Even corporate activity has emerged, with Hewlett Packard Enterprise scheduled to hold its keynote address at the venue June 18.

Koester knows that for the Sphere to thrive, constant movement is paramount.

“I go back to the premise upon which this was built, that this is a venue that is a disruptor,” she said. “The hope is that I can sit here in five years and say, 'We’re still ahead of everyone else and are continuing to evolve and push the boundaries with technology.' I wake up every day thinking about that.”

Does the Sphere live up to the hype?

The future of the Sphere is unquestionably intriguing. But in its nine months of existence, it has proven to be a game-changer for live experiences. Its bewitching presence has convinced most cynics that this flashy attraction on the Strip is more than a colorful orb with impressive sound and visual technology.

“Everyone is pushing the boundaries of the capabilities of that venue,” Koester said. “I was at U2 opening night – I’ve been going to see them since I was 13 – and it ruined me for every other concert."

MURFREESBORO, TENNESSEE - NOVEMBER 03: Wynonna Judd attends The Judds Love Is Alive The Final Concert hosted by CMT at Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University on November 03, 2022 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and screengrab from Wynonna's reel from a U2 concert.

Wynonna Judd Shares Clips from Trip to Vegas With Sister Ashley to See U2

The Judd sisters experienced U2's immersive stage show at the Sphere.

Wynonna and Ashley Judd spent some quality sister time in Las Vegas recently to take in one of U2's immersive experience concerts at the Sphere in Paradise, Nev.

The description of an Instagram reel posted by Wynonna identifies U2 as the siblings' favorite band. The gig in question was part of 40-date residency U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere, which stretched from Sept. 29, 2023 to this past Saturday (March 2). Set lists focused heavily on the 1991 album Achtung Baby , which brought us the U2 staples "One," "Mysterious Ways" and "Even Better Than the Real Thing."

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Wynonna (@wynonnajudd)

Wynonna's footage offers a first-person glimpse at the incredible audio-visual presentation that was allowed by the Sphere's state-of-the-art in-house technology as well as its spherical layout.

The clip is set to a dance mix of "With or Without You." The siblings are shown vibing and clapping along to what remains one of the biggest bands on the planet— certainly when it comes to top-drawing live attractions. Indeed, the band's Sphere shows in 2023 alone made a reported $30 million in revenue.

Wynonna and Ashley are the children of Wynonna's bandmate in The Judds , the late Naomi Judd. The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame  in 2022, just one day after Naomi's death.

Press materials call U2's residency " a first-of-its-kind live music experience that ushers in a new era of live entertainment with the world's biggest rock band, U2, in the world's most cutting-edge venue, Sphere."

The residency was announced during a commercial aired during the 2023 Super Bowl.

"I can't announce Vegas, you'd have to shoot me," Bono told RTE Radio 1 three months before the dates were confirmed. "But if it happens, I can promise you it won't be like anything you've ever seen in Las Vegas or anywhere ever. It is the most extraordinary... If it comes off, it's grand madness by 100."

Where to Watch the Las Vegas 4th of July Fireworks 2024

By Juliana Shallcross

Fireworks at Caesars Palace.

The lights of Las Vegas shine so bright that it’s the only city in the United States that astronauts can see from space. But when you add in a 4th of July fireworks extravaganza that blankets the entire valley, the destination might just be the brightest city on earth this holiday.

Aside from the spectacular fireworks, there are a few other stand-out reasons why Las Vegas is a great destination for a quick and easy getaway this 4th of July. The city’s world-class shows , concerts, nightclubs, restaurants , and pool parties will be in full swing on the 4th of July, meaning your odds of finding something to do before and after the fireworks are very good. There’s also little to no chance of rain and with more than 150,000 hotel rooms, booking a place to stay is a cinch.

And if you’re wanting to be by the beach, you can do that in Las Vegas too—if you stay at the Mandalay Bay and hit up their sprawling pool complex with 2,700 tons of sand and an actual wave pool. Best of all you can wave an American flag at the Statue of Liberty—the smaller replica that stands in front of the New York, New York Hotel & Casino . However you want to do Vegas this 4th of July, just remember to step outside at 9pm to watch the fireworks light up the sky.

Here’s the full list of where to watch the fireworks throughout Las Vegas:

Las Vegas strip.

The Las Vegas fireworks can be seen from just about anywhere on the Strip.

The Las Vegas Strip

Caesars Palace is keeping its annual tradition as the only fireworks show on the Las Vegas Strip. As ever, the show will start at 8:30 p.m., and fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. from the hotel’s Julius Tower.

Though the fireworks can be seen from almost anywhere outside on the Strip, Caesars Entertainment has curated a few choice locations so you can elevate your view of the show. The resort’s Venus Pool + Lounge is offering a “Night Swim” event from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. where guests can watch the fireworks from reserved pool loungers and cabanas. Across the street at The Cromwell , guests can reserve a a table on the outdoor patio at GIADA restaurant, or go to Drai’s Beachclub , a pool scene turned after-dark hotspot, which will keep the party going after the fireworks show with a special musical set from Wacka Flacka. At the nearby Linq Hotel, another option is to head up to RE:Match Bar , which has an outdoor lounge directly over The Strip.

A more thrilling option for some is to book a ticket during the fireworks show at the High Roller Observation Wheel , which is the largest of its kind in North America and rises 500 feet above Las Vegas.

If you prefer a more low-key viewing pleasure, spend a little extra on a hotel room with a view of the Strip to watch the show from the comfort of your bed.

A rooftop cocktail bar.

Legacy Club at the Circa Resort & Casino, a rooftop cocktail lounge, will host a private celebration to take in the fireworks from 60 stories up.

Downtown Las Vegas

The Plaza Hotel and Casino is the place to be in downtown Las Vegas for 4th of July fireworks. About fifteen minutes away from Caesars, The Plaza is the host of the only fireworks show downtown, kicking off at 9 p.m. Daybeds and cabanas at the pool are available to rent for a special fireworks viewing party, or guests can nab a table on the outdoor patio at the hotel’s Carousel Bar. If you can’t make it for the actual 4th of July, The Plaza is planning on doing an encore fireworks show on July 5 at 9:15 p.m. as part of their Summer Friday fireworks series.

Over at the Legacy Club at the Circa Resort & Casino , the rooftop cocktail lounge will be hosting a Star-Spangled Glamour celebration where you can take in the fireworks from its swanky perch on the 60th floor. Tickets start at $150 per person with premium table packages available.

Off the strip

Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Summerlin will host its annual fireworks viewing party at its Sandbar pool area on July 4. While there’s no cost to view the fireworks from other places on property, the viewing party is $10 for guests 2 to 11 years of age and $35 for guests 12 and up. Admission includes light-up necklaces and tickets can be purchased from the resort’s gift shop. Hotel guests will get four complimentary wristbands if they book a room. The viewing party opens at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks going off at 9 p.m.

Over in Henderson, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino , a sister property to the Red Rock, will also host a fireworks viewing party for its fireworks show on July 4. Tickets to watch the show from the resort’s main pool, amphitheater, pond, and terrace are $10 for guests 2 to 11 years of age and $35 for guests 12 and up—the same as at the Red Rock. Similarly, admission includes light-up necklaces and tickets can be purchased from the resort’s gift shop. The schedule is the same too: The viewing party opens at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks commence at 9 p.m.

The M Resort in Henderson, about 25 minutes from the Strip, will have a 15-minute fireworks celebration at its M Pool Deck on July 4 at 9 p.m. Tickets are being offered for a premium viewing experience, starting at $10 for children age 10 and under and $30 for adults. Live music from Cover Lane, an acoustic duo featuring Lynnae Meyers and the Las Vegas Knights anthem singer, Carnell Johnson, will kick off the celebration at 7:45 p.m.

Lake Las Vegas , located about 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, will have its own community fireworks show over the 320-acre lake at 9 p.m. on July 4. Guests of the Westin Lake Las Vegas and Hilton Lake Las Vegas resorts will have prime views of the show, but it’s free for everyone to watch. Want to add a little adventure before the show? Book an evening kayak tour on the lake that ends just before the fireworks begin.

Forget Las Vegas, New Jersey dreams of this beach locale for summer vacation

Do you wonder what the most popular destinations are for the summer of 2024?

In a poll by cloudwards.net , an online privacy and security website, countries went head-to-head of what the most popular cities are for people from around the world to visit.

The poll was curated through Google Search data and keywords that related to vacation; some examples being hotels, resorts, Airbnb, weather, activities and holidays.

London and Dubai took the leaderboard, both having 10 countries prefer those two destinations over any other of the 195.

But what do Americans prefer?

London and Cancún.

New Jerseyans favor London, however.

For Americans who want to save money, or are inclined to stay close to home, the poll covers domestic travel as well.

Las Vegas was considered “the place to be” this summer, with 14 states favoring this destination.

For New Jersey, they would rather see sandy beaches than casinos, with its top pick being Miami.

Whether people around the world want to indulge in a relaxing, tropical paradise or meander about a bustling city, there are countless destinations to choose from — close to home or across the world.
