eagles.JPG

INDIANAPOLIS — Legendary rock band, the Eagles will be returning to Indianapolis, to perform, one final time.

Today, the band, which has enjoyed more than 50+ years of success, announced they will be setting out on their final tour, appropriately named "The Long Goodbye."

That tour includes a stop at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 10.

The band originally planned to play only one show, but added a second due to demand.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Eagles

The Eagles will be joined on the tour by fellow legends, Steely Dan, who will also be commemorating their own 50+ year career.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round. So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.” With love and gratitude, The Eagles

According to the release, during “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey - will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

To date, the Eagles have performed more than 30 Sold-Out shows in 15 major U.S. arenas, including five nights at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City, four nights at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, and three concerts at the Forum in Los Angeles.  “From the title track — a 6 1/2-minute flamenco-reggae ballad— to the elegiac closer ‘The Last Resort,’ it’s consummately performed…” -Los Angeles Times “The band performed the album from front to back, following with a blazing greatest hits set that had the audience at the sold-out arena constantly on its feet…With no exception, the songs have aged well, but how could they fail with the Eagles’ five-part harmony and five guitar-approach… (Henley’s) voice sounded as strong and pliant as it ever has, easily hitting the highest of notes, while retaining his trademark huskiness.”  -Billboard “By now the orchestra has been joined by a choir. The Eagles’ sound, with its glowing harmonies, barely needs them, but they add to the sense of occasion – and the delight of the crowd. I’ve never seen so many songs receive a standing ovation.” -Daily Mail Hotel California  is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum by the RIAA. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and won two GRAMMY Awards for "New Kid in Town" and "Hotel California."  Several of the songs from the album have never been performed since the original “Hotel California” tour.  The band’s  Their Greatest Hits  1971-1977 is the best-selling U.S. album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum. In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons. As the best-selling American band of the ’70s, and one of the top-selling acts of all time, the Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums and topped the singles charts five times. They have won six GRAMMY® Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye”  will be the band’s final tour.

Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .

The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan,  will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.

Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .

In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.  In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.  Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum.  After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”

Who’s Playing Indy? – The Eagles Farewell Tour With Special Guests The Steve Miller Band

Share the post, share this link via, or copy link.

INDIANAPOLIS — Monday was night one of two shows that the Eagles are playing at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as they continue on their “Long Goodbye” Tour as the band bids farewell to a 51 year career filled with number one hits and world tours. Hoosiers from across the state gathered for their final chance to hear staples of rock and roll like “Hotel California” and “Take It To The Limit” echo throughout the arena one last time.

To start, this show was a prime example of the “card subject to change” phrase. Steely Dan was the announced opener for the Eagles farewell shows, however as Don Henley would announce during their set, Donald Fagen would come down with an illness prior to their Indianapolis shows keeping him hospitalized for a few days. Henley revealed that Fagen had been released from the hospital but the frontman along with the rest of Steely Dan would not be joining them for any of their remaining October dates.

With that cancelation came the announcement of a replacement opening act in The Steve Miller Band. Stepping onto a barren stage at 7:30, the Steve Miller Band opened with three songs before acknowledging the audience and the fact that they weren’t the originally advertised act. Miller would then acknowledge the audience by saying he hoped no one was disappointed they were playing instead of Steely Dan. The crowd reassured Miller and his bandmates that they were welcome in the arena with a raucous applause. The front-man then proceeded to dedicate the next song too all the audience members in the top level seats before breaking out into “Abracadabra.”

Source: Olivia Kremer / Matt Kryger / Gainbridge Fieldhouse

To his credit, Miller has not lost a step on the guitar for being 80 years old. During his performance he performed a variety of blues solos that received cheers and applause across the audience. One downside that might not necessarily be attributed to age was the frequency with which he would move his mouth away from the microphone while adjusting the setup around him. While never ruining the overall mood of a song it was distracting at time to see how enthusiastically he was singing a song only for the lyrics to occasionally fade due to a guitar pedal needing to be hit or cord moved. Of course this could possibly just be the fact that the band had a few days notice to even get together for the gig and perhaps not everything was set the way a seasoned veteran like Miller would have had it traditionally.

The band ripped through all the hits, one of them they even went through twice. “Jet Airliner” was performed in its original style earlier in the night with a dedication to Miller’s godfather Les Paul. He would introduce the song a second time only four songs later but this time the song was performed in an acoustic and slowed down style. The choice seemed to confuse the audience at first but when it came time to hit the chorus, all confusion was put aside and the audience roared along with the singer. This was one of those times where choosing to remove my ear plugs and take in the moment for what it was became an extremely rewarding experience. Being seated in the 100 level and right between the bulk of the audience and the band it was the perfect combination of hearing the audience and the lead singer’s voice come together for the song.

For their final three songs the Steve Miller Band would bust out their biggest hits as they played “Take The Money and Run”, “The Joker”, and “Rock’n Me” with the final song involving a little call and response with the audience. One thing that I personally applaud Miller for is that he doesn’t play any radio-edit versions of his songs. Fans of the band may know that his hits like “Take The Money and Run”, and “Rock’n Me” have longer bluesy intros than what you normally would hear on the radio. Live, he gives you the full song and it certainly adds to the overall rocking vibe of his performance. As the final notes of their set finished ringing the band gathered at the center of the stage and bowed to the crowd who was giving the last minute replacement act a standing ovation. I could be wrong, but I think opening for the Eagles is big for the Steve Miller Band, I think that kid is going to go places.

The Eagles

Source: Olivia Kremer / Matt Kryger / Gainbridge Fielhouse

After a short break involving a 10+ man stage crew working to get the main event’s gear set up the lights went out and video began playing on the jumbotron. Pictures and videos flashed upon the screen spanning decades of Eagles performances. The crowd got up on their feet as the lights went dim again. All at once the voices of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey rang out with the opening lines of “Steven Bridges Road” a song originally performed by Steve Young.

Usually when writing a review, I’d try only to include newer songs, or the biggest hits from a classic rock band like the Eagles. The issue here is, how do you do that with a band where every song played is a hit. There is no exaggeration when stating that the audience was singing along for every single song from beginning to end. From “Take It Easy” to “Witchy Woman” the crowd was never silent. Even when the band was not performing music, interacting with the audience between songs, audience members were still shouting pleasantries at the band. One time while Don Henley was introducing “Take It To The Limit” (a song he would dedicate to former bandmate Randy Meisner) a woman screamed out her love for Henley so loudly that he had to pause for a moment before instructing security to “get out the tranquilizer dart.” Vince Gill would even receive a round of applause as he was just being introduced to sing the next song. The respect Indianapolis showed for these rock legends last night was apparent through and through.

Don Henley on Drums

Henley, Gill, and Deacon Frey (Who is the son of former Eagles band member Glenn Frey. Deacon would tour with the group following his father’s passing in 2015.) would trade singing duties for first half of the set which was a bit more ballad focused. The second half of the set allowed other members in Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmitt to shine with their songs. Walsh would debut vocally with “In The City” followed by Schmitt’s “I Can’t Tell You Why”. Walsh, who has not lost his trademark mannerism and sense of humor, delivered a few remarks to the audience before going into “Life’s Been Good.” Stating that he remembers liking Indianapolis so much that he “spent three days there one night” on a previous tour. In what might have been the line of the night Walsh stated that he “had a lot more fun being 20 in the 70’s than being 70 in the 20’s.” Even cooler is that Walsh got to play the big hit from his other band, James Gang, with a rendition of “Funk #49”.

The 18 song set was filled with standing ovations, dedications to those no longer with us, (the aforementioned Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, and even a dedication to Jimmy Buffett) and thrilling guitar solos. The band bowed to the crowd following their performance of “Heartache Tonight”. Applause continue to ring, and phone lights came out as the crown begged for an encore. The band obliged returning to the stage and finishing off the night with “Rocky Mountain Way”, “Desperado”, and of course the essential “Hotel California.” Finishing off with their biggest hit, the band bowed one final time and Indianapolis continued to applaud until sound came back over the Gainbridge Fieldhouse speakers. It is hard not to feel emotional knowing this is the final time one will get to see one of the most noteworthy rock and roll acts of all time. (Sure, one might be lucky enough to have gotten tickets for both nights. For the average fan however, this was the end)

What makes last night so astounding is that if you listened with your eyes closed there is no way one could tell if that show took place in 1973 or 2023. Every note, every vocal, every moment sounded perfect. It almost makes it hard to believe this could be a farewell tour for a 51-year career when the band operated with such a level of professional musicianship you’d swear they could do this forever. Joe Walsh might not move like he used to, Don Henley may not hit the drums as hard as he did previously, but even if so that truly doesn’t make a difference when a band can sound this good after this long. If it is true and this is the final goodbye for a band with five #1 hit singles and six #1 hit albums, then it is the literal definition of going out on top.

The Eagles will embark on their own long road out of Eden this fall for a farewell tour expected to last into 2025.

"We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful," the band said in a statement. "Everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle."

Dubbed The Long Goodbye, the Eagles' final shows will kick off Sept. 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Only the first handful of dates are being announced with Boston (Sept. 11), Denver (Oct. 5), Atlanta (Nov. 2) and St. Paul, Minnesota (Nov. 17) among them.

Presale tickets and VIP packages go on sale July 12; the general on-sale begins 10 a.m. local time July 14.

Also along for the jaunt will be Steely Dan, longtime contemporaries of the band who will commemorate their own five-decade-plus career.

In announcing their plans to end their "52-year odyssey," the Eagles – composed of Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit – noted they will play as many shows in each market as the audience demands, even if it requires returning to certain cities. The band will be joined onstage, as they have since the 2016 death of founding member Glenn Frey, by Vince Gill and Frey's son, Deacon.

Shortly after Frey's death at the age of 67, Henley indicated the Eagles would no longer tour. But following a pair of special classic-rock-focused festivals in 2017 – Classic West and Classic East, organized by their longtime manager Irving Azoff – they resumed regular live performances.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and six-time Grammy winners have played more than 1,000 concerts throughout their 50 years of touring. Their recently wrapped Hotel California Tour – named for their landmark 1976 album, which they played in its entirety with a backing orchestra – grossed about $250 million over 90 shows, according to music industry trade publication Pollstar.

In thanking fans for their years of support, the band concluded, "This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on."

Steely Dan Donald Fagen 2021

Who Is Opening The Eagles ‘The Long Goodbye Final Tour?’

Flisadam Pointer

The Eagles have long since been cemented in rock music. With a career dating back to the early 1970s, the group has rightfully earned a blissful retirement . However, their disbanding following the tragic death of Glenn Frey was the true end of the music innovators. To give themselves a proper send-off, The Eagles have embarked on their The Long Goodbye Final Tour . So, who is the opening act for the tour?

Well, it’s none other than Steely Dan . The pairing is a subtle nod to the groups’ rumored rivalry dating back to 1976 when Donald Fagen name-dropped the band on their song “Everything You Did.”

“I never knew you / You were a roller skater / You gonna show me later / Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening,” sang Fagen.

The Eagles’ Glenn Frey later explained his theory on the line in the compilation The Very Best of the Eagles ‘ liner notes. “Apparently, [Steely Dan member] Walter Becker’s girlfriend loved the Eagles, and she played them all the time. I think it drove him nuts. So, the story goes that they were having a fight one day, and that was the genesis of the line,” jokingly wrote Frey.

Former Eagles Linebacker Contemplates Playing Again Vs. Retirement

Ed kracz | 19 hours ago.

Dec 25, 2023; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Shaquille Leonard (53) reacts after a defensive stop against the New York Giants during the first quarter at Lincoln Financial Field. Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

  • Philadelphia Eagles

Shaq Leonard was with the Eagles for five games last year.

The Eagles were so desperate for linebacker help that, after 13 weeks of a season that was about to see the bottom drop out, they beat out the Dallas Cowboys for his services shortly after he was released by the Indianapolis Colts.

Leonard did his best to keep the Philly afloat, making 11 tackles with one sack in just 164 defensive snaps. Really though, the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2018 shouldn’t have been playing at all.

He had only begun walking just a couple weeks before training camp with the Colts began last summer, the result of back surgery to repair a nerve injury that had affected his lower body enough to limit him to just three games in 2022.

During a candid moment in the locker room during that five-game stretch, Leonard admitted that he wasn’t close to 100 percent and would be better served to continue rehabbing. Except, he added, he loved the game too much to not play it.

So it is that Leonard is still hoping to play.

The three-time, first-team AP All-Pro was outside of Indianapolis on Saturday at an event for his Maniac Foundation said he is peace with his career should this be the end of it.

“I think throughout my career I've had a great career, even if I do step away from it,” he told the Indianapolis Star. “... I'm enjoying life and just waiting on that opportunity."

The Eagles would seem like a team that fits the opportunity. The linebacking spot is once again being remade by general manager Howie Roseman after choosing that position to invest minimal resources in and hope for the best.

Last August, Roseman fortified the position after Nakobe Dean suffered a left ankle injury during training camp, signing a pair of free-agent linebackers – Zach Cunningham and Myles Jack.

Cunningham proved to be a solid addition, and he is also waiting for the phone to ring. Jack retired then changed his mind and returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like Leonard and Cunningham, he is also a free agent.

Still, it’s a longshot that Leonard returns to Philly. It would be a premature end, with him set to turn just 29 shortly after training camps around the league open at the end of July,

“I'm moreso just sitting back, getting the body healthy, and whenever the opportunity presents itself, we'll give it a try," Leonard said to the Indy Star. "I just continue to be me by working hard. If it happens, it happens. If it don't, it don't.”

Eagles concert electrifies Indianapolis crowd during 3-hour odyssey

the eagles tour indianapolis

As the Eagles stood behind a curtain at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, a man in a black bellhop   uniform strode across the stage to place a vinyl copy of 1976's "Hotel California" onto a turntable — a light dramatic touch before the band launched into a front-to-back rendition of its beloved album.

Another man two rows behind and likely three beers ahead of me began to shout words of encouragement.

"Yeah! Take it out! Put the needle on it!"

I probably shouldn't speak for the entire packed house that ventured downtown in the pouring rain on a Tuesday, but that man may well have been all of us. His excitement was shared particularly by those who, like me, had not been to a show of this size in a long, long time.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

We jolted out of our seats when the title track began. An excellent rendition, and the first of many jolts.

Starting a show with what would ordinarily be your crescendo — your top hit, the name of the album, the name of this tour —  would seem like a setup for letdown. As would a band nearing its 50th anniversary setting out to play a three-hour show with one break and no opening act.

The letdown never came.

Don Henley, the lone original Eagle and unquestioned band leader after Glenn Frey's 2016 passing, told the audience it would be "like a three-hour vacation."

After the first set, he laid out the band's goal.

"We're going to come back in about 20 minutes and play every song we know. We're going to wear your asses out."

And they did.

The birds of prey put on a remarkable show, thanks in large part to Henley's fellow lead vocalists, guitar wizard Joe Walsh and country singer Vince Gill.

More: Kenny Chesney's tour to make a stop at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville this May

The group was down a member, as Frey's son, Deacon, was unable to tour due to an illness. It did not slow them down, largely due to Gill, who impressed by singing the venerable band's classics in his own distinct way.

Everyone in my vicinity screamed the second verse of "Take It Easy" so loud that it drowned Gill out. This support carried through the evening.

He was particularly impressive during his version of "Take It to the Limit," originally a Randy Meisner vocal. Rather than climb a vocal Everest to  that  note at its ending, he just belted it all in his own beautiful way.

To borrow Henley's parlance, Gill sang his ass off for most of the night. His voice lent a sweetness with a faint hint of twang to the classics.

The vocal rearranging wasn't always a hit, though. Bassist Timothy B. Schmit's version of "Peaceful Easy Feeling" didn't work, particularly after what Gill had just done. No need to pass that mic.

A nitpicker could also have found some weakness in Walsh's singing during his first lead spot during his song "In the City," but that man had that crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.

A monstrous guitar solo later in the track damn near elicited its own standing ovation. In the middle of the song. For one instrumental chunk. I don't know if I've ever seen that before. Cheering, sure, but many people rose to their feet to scream for 90 seconds, then sat back down for the song's ending.

More: Rod Stewart, Cheap Trick heading to Ruoff for summer show

There were lulls. Anything that lasts three hours will have its lulls. And when there were lulls, Walsh snapped the audience back with one of his songs.

"I like Indianapolis," he told the crowd at one point. "I spent three days here one night."

I took this to mean Walsh knew how to party, which is canon. But I want my new Hoosier brother and sisters to know I momentarily considered taking offense to it as some sort of nap town-like dig. I did that for all of us.

Walsh also delivered an all-time line to a crowd that, if I'm being honest, skewed heavily Baby Boomer.

"It was a lot more fun being in my 20s in the '70s than it is being in my 70s in the '20s."

This is all not to take anything away from Henley, who also sounded great. His longevity was perhaps most impressive, as he often sang while playing drums during this weeknight odyssey.

The whole band was tight, and the harmonies — perhaps most essential part of the Eagles — were fantastic.

"One of These Nights" is probably not about a Tuesday, but the Indy audience nonetheless belted it out on the day they were dealt.

An orchestra was a nice if by no means necessary touch to a few songs, and a local choir from Second Presbyterian Church was a solid addition.

I'm still pretty new here, and several people have warned me about Gainbridge's acoustics. I was nine rows off the floor, and it sounded fine. I can't say if it did or did not elsewhere in the arena.

I am not a big Eagles fan. I was born 12 years after "Hotel California" released. But the band won me over.

Sure, there will be some purists like my former '70s rock DJ father who would argue there can't be an Eagles without Frey or Don Felder, or after 1979.

I can't say if they were as good as they used to be. I don't know. But I saw a group of musicians carrying the load together and making a pretty good noise for the full length of a "Star Wars" movie.

"Life in the Carpool Lane" isn't as sexy a song title, but a little slower with a few more folks on board will still get you there.

The Eagles are headed to the Las Vegas Sphere for eight shows this fall

The Eagles are touching down in Las Vegas.

The long-running rock band announced Thursday that it will play eight shows at Sphere, the $2-billion venue with the wraparound video screen just off the Vegas Strip, over four weekends this fall starting Sept. 20. Tickets for the concerts, the last of which is scheduled for Oct. 19, are set to go on sale June 21 (though presale access will be available to various groups as early as June 18).

The Sphere residency ostensibly comes as part of the Eagles’ so-called Long Goodbye, a farewell tour that launched in September — seven years after the death of co-founder Glenn Frey — and stopped at Inglewood’s Kia Forum for four nights in January.

A victory lap 50 years in the making: The Eagles say goodbye (maybe) at the Forum

The Eagles, with some help from special guest J.D. Souther, began their Long Goodbye to L.A. audiences with a sold-out show at the band’s ‘home field.’

Jan. 6, 2024

“Welcome to whatever this is,” singer Don Henley said with a smile to greet the crowd at the first of those Forum gigs. The band has said it will keep adding dates according to audience demand.

The Eagles will become the fourth musical act to play Sphere following U2 , which opened the building last year, Phish and Dead & Company, which is in the middle of a 30-show residency set to run through mid-August.

Last week the venue made news when a Phish fan said he’d received a letter from Sphere prohibiting him from entering the venue after he posted a video of himself taking a bong hit during a concert. Sphere later said it had rescinded the ban.

Parris campbell ready for 'fresh start' in new wide receiver room.

He has taken the NFL ride since being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2019, and wide receiver Parris Campbell understands as much as anyone that if you aren't strong, and if you can't overcome adversity, you won't last in this league for long.

The NFL. Not For Long.

But in the case of Campbell, who joined the Eagles in free agency on a one-year contract, there is a positive to be gained from the down moments – mostly a significant injury history – as he moves forward in his quest to positively impact the Eagles this season.

He's here. He's on the field. He feels great.

All of that matters.

"What a roller coaster, man, and I'm feeling so great being here, having this opportunity," Campbell said. "That's all you can ask for and now it's up to me to make the most of my chance here. I've learned from the downs – 100 percent. And I'm better for them. The majority of the downs have been injuries and you have to work through that stuff and not take this game for granted. I feel like a lot of people, when they get in this position, do that.

"I've had the game taken away from me a couple of times and that has allowed me to look at the game in the grand scheme of things. There are a lot of intangibles in this game and you learn that you have control only of what you're doing, so you better make the most of every chance you get and be at your best all the time."

A second-round draft pick out of Ohio State, Campbell's injuries – hand, foot, knee, abdomen – ruined most of his first three seasons with the Colts, where he worked with Indianapolis assistants Nick Sirianni (offensive coordinator, now Eagles head coach) and Kevin Patullo (wide receivers/passing game specialist, now Eagles passing game coordinator/associate head coach).

In 2022, Campbell had his breakthrough season with 63 receptions, 623 yards and three touchdowns and it helped him land a contract in free agency with the New York Giants prior to the '23 season. But Campbell had limited time with the Giants, playing in only 207 offensive snaps (27 percent of the offense) and contributing 20 receptions for 104 yards.

This is a new year and a new Campbell, with a fresh start. The Eagles have A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, two stars leading the way at wide receiver. After that, the field is talented and crowded, with playing time there for the taking.

"I'm willing to do whatever the team needs from me," Campbell said. "Just doing everything I can to get better every day, carve out a role for myself and be part of this team and this offense.

"I would say that I'm playing my best football right now, and it's funny because I was having this conversation with my wife (Taylor) recently. My confidence is at an all-time high. I'm approaching the field differently now. Being back with Nick and this offense – obviously Kellen (Moore, offensive coordinator) is bringing his twists to it, but I'm familiar with it. But being in a place where you know the offense, you're healthy, I've got experience under my belt, and this locker room, it's fun being here. I have a clear head and I'm just going out and playing and I'm happy and feeling it."

Feeling that the downs are way in the past and there is nothing but up for Parris Campbell in his trajectory as an Eagle.
