20 Cold Brew Coffee Brands, Ranked Worst To Best

If you are the kind of person that takes your morning cup of coffee all too seriously, you can probably rattle off the differences between cold brew and traditional iced coffee  with ease. Unlike iced coffee, which is often made by chilling the remaining hot coffee from the day before, cold brew is made by a special extraction process. As the name implies, cold brew is made by combining cool water with coffee grounds. The extraction timeline for a cold brew coffee is usually between 12 and 24 hours.

Cold brew coffee is an ideal option for folks looking for a low-acid coffee, since using hot water to extract the flavor from the grounds often pulls the desirable, intense flavor notes out of the coffee and leaves behind bitter ones. This means that cold brew can reduce indigestion , acid reflux, and other digestive side effects of your favorite cup of coffee.

And while we would love to have all the time in the world to make cold brew ourselves, it is much easier to just buy a decent cold brew from a grocery store or online retailer. Here are some of our favorite cold brew brands to stock up on.

20. Chobani

Chobani offers several cold brew flavor options in pure black, sweet cream, vanilla, and seasonal peppermint oat milk. Its entire line is made with 100% pure Arabica coffee. One of the major downsides to Chobani's line of cold brew beverages is that it is limited in size to 32-ounce containers — so if you drink a lot of cold brew, Chobani likely isn't the most convenient brand for you. One 32-ounce container is sold at Target for roughly $0.15 cents per fluid ounce.

The flavor of the Chobani cold brew is not our favorite for several reasons. The flavored versions of this brand taste like you're drinking straight coffee creamer rather than a balanced note of cold brew with a hint of flavoring. The flavor of the coffee is weaker than other cold brew brands, and several customers reported a gritty texture and sour aftertaste.

19. Califia Farms

Califia Farms is well-known for its dairy-free milk and coffee creamers, but did you know the brand also offers several cold brew coffee options in both 48-ounce containers and single-serve bottles? Califia Farms offers blonde roasts and medium roasts, as well as festive flavors like vanilla latte with almond milk, caramel vanilla with oat milk, and mocha with almond milk. Target priced the 48-ounce containers at around $0.12 per fluid ounce.

Califia Farms was far from our favorite brand of cold brew. Starting with the obvious — the shape of the bottles makes the 48-ounce containers annoying to store in your fridge. The flavor of this coffee is also lackluster, regardless if you are drinking the blonde roast or the medium roast . There is also an unanticipated sourness to the coffee that makes drinking it an unpleasant experience.

18. Lavazza

Lavazza is a premium coffee bean that has since expanded its product line to include cold brew cans . Outside of nitro cold brew, Lavazza carries three cold brew flavors: classic, cappuccino, and double-shot oat milk. A 12-pack of cans is available for purchase on Lavazza's website for $33, or $2.75 per can at the time of publication.

Amazon reviewers found the taste of these cans to be watery. The cream-based cans were too milky and lacked a coffee taste, which resulted in a 3.8-star average rating on the retailer's website . Plus, the nature of only offering small cans of coffee increases the priciness of this product and decreases the utility for folks drinking more than one a day. We recommend leaving Lavazza's cold brew on the shelf and reaching for a bag of its beans instead.

17. Java House

Java House offers four cold brew options for coffee enthusiasts: pods , individual bottles , concentrate , and on-tap boxes . The 8-ounce individual bottles retail for $2.12 each at the time of publication while the on-tap box (available in 16-cup, 32-cup, and 48-cup sizes) retails for as low as $0.68 per fluid ounce. You can also purchase several of its cold brew products in an espresso variety, which boasts a darker and deeper flavor than its regular medium blend.

Amazon reviewers have noted several instances of the taps from the boxes coming in upside-down and have likened the flavor of Java House to that of a cheaper Starbucks cold brew. Others have noted that the taste of the Columbian blend is very, very light and reminiscent of a watered-down iced coffee rather than the standard for a pungent cold brew.

16. Lucky Jack

Among its selection of nitro-brewed coffee, Lucky Jack also offers several bottles of cold brew concentrate in original, vanilla, caramel, and mocha. One serving (10 in each 32-ounce bottle) of this concentrate provides 130 milligrams of caffeine. Its beans are 100% pure Arabica, but we were not able to locate information about sourcing otherwise.

It was difficult to find information about this brand and its retailers on the website. From the reviews we were able to access, we found that folks enjoy the carbonized flavor of the concentrate, as well as the beautiful shape of its bottle. The overall picture the website paints is an eco-friendly and sustainable brand. But besides the organic label, there is very little information about how the company achieves those objectives.

15. Bean Box

Bean Box is a coffee subscription and gift service that also offers cold brew boxes for sale. You can purchase the cold brew tap in one of two flavors: rich and creamy (a medium-dark roast) or smooth and bright (a light-medium roast). Each box contains 1.5 liters of coffee, making it a significantly smaller tap cold brew than other brands offer.

Many reviewers on its website complain about the bitterness of this coffee (especially with the smooth and bright blend) along with a distinct plastic undertone that altered the flavor of the coffee significantly. And since we had higher expectations for a brand like Bean Box, we would argue that its cold brew taps miss the mark — especially when there are other more reliable options for cold brew taps out there.

14. Starbucks

Starbucks offers several cold brew options for folks looking for barista-quality coffee at home. The brand currently offers concentrates single-serve and multi-serve options in flavors like signature black, caramel dolce, Madagascar vanilla, and seasonal pumpkin spice. You can also purchase instant pods in a medium roast variety for an expedited cold brew experience.

The flavor of this concentrate is mediocre at best. Although it is a medium roast, some customers notice a bitter aftertaste with Starbucks concentrates — especially the signature black. Other reviewers found that the word "concentrate" doesn't reflect the actual weakness in flavor. And if you're drinking this coffee without diluting it, you're not doing your wallet any favors. You might as well just go to your local Starbucks location and pick up a cold brew instead.

13. Cafe Grumpy

With a face like that, it's not hard to love Cafe Grumpy. The brand offers individually-packaged, 11-ounce cartons of cold brew coffee as a one-time purchase or subscription. The BPA-free cartons are recyclable and made from renewably-sourced paper products. One 12-pack of these bottles is $48, or $4 per carton at the time of publication.

Folks who have tried Cafe Grumpy note that its flavors are crisp, light, and mildly bitter. There are no sugars or creamers in this coffee, so you'll get a full-bodied flavor that is both mild and delightful to drink. Realistically though, spending $4 on a carton of cold brew is almost the same amount you'd spend if you went to a coffee shop and ordered a small cold brew. With ordering a coffee out, you also have a bit more space in the container to customize and add your favorite creamer; Cafe Grumpy's design necessitates you pour it into a separate container to do your customizing.

12. La Colombe

La Colombe sells a range of cold brew products in individual cans, gallon boxes, and concentrate. The gallons are sold at about $0.26 per fluid ounce while the cans are slightly more expensive at $40 per 12-pack ($3.33 per can) at the time of publication.

La Colombe is successful in two major ways. Its coffee is super-caffeinated (for reference, its single-origin Brazilian cold brew has 225 milligrams of caffeine per 12-ounce serving). The brand also offers numerous flavor options for its single-serve cans including oat milk vanilla latte , hazelnut latte , and triple latte . This cold brew is perfect for busy folks who can't think of any other way to start their morning than with a highly caffeinated and flavorful cold brew. For some folks, though, spending over $3 on a can of cold brew is unrealistic, especially when there are other comparable brands out there to choose from.

11. Death Wish Coffee Company

The Death Wish Coffee Company logo is sure to get your attention if you see it in the store. The brand offers unsweetened cold brew and slightly-sweetened cold brew cans for $39.99 for a 12-pack ($3.33 per can) at the time of publication. Both options are brewed from organic beans and deliver a powerful caffeinated punch at 300 milligrams of caffeine per can.

The benefit of drinking such a highly caffeinated cold brew? You may feel too jittery to go through several cans per day, which will make things easier on your wallet. And since the flavor options are so slim for this cold brew brand, you will have to put a bit more effort into customizing your cold brew with milk and creamers. But if you like just plain cold brew, we can vouch for the delicious flavor of the arabica and robusta bean blend Death Wish Coffee uses, but some folks may find it too concentrated and strong to enjoy.

10. Grady's Cold Brew

Grady's offers a beautifully designed and flavored cold brew. You can purchase bean bags as well as pre-made cold brew concentrate bottles from its website . One of the brand's most popular sellers is the New Orleans-style cold brew , which is made with chicory and a unique spice blend for a more nutty flavor. Each bottle of concentrate makes eight servings of coffee and you can purchase a case of six concentrates for $69 at the time of publication. You can also purchase a box of the New Orleans style for $0.30 per fluid ounce at the time of publication.

Grady's cold brew concentrate lacks a lot of bitter or burnt notes. Moreover, many reviewers found this coffee concentrate quite strong, so it's likely that it will take you a while to get through the entire six-pack. And since these bottles must be refrigerated before opening, you may find yourself struggling to find storage space.

9. High Brew

High Brew is a coffee brand committed to ethical, direct trade sourcing of coffee from growers in Colombia, so you can rest assured that you're drinking a fair (and delicious) can of cold brew.  High Brew offers single-serving, 8-ounce cans of cold brew in flavors like double espresso, Mexican vanilla, dark chocolate mocha, and black-and-bold.  You can purchase cans from High Brew's website for $26 for a 12-pack, which rounds out to about $0.27 per fluid ounce at the time of publication.

Although we love the ingenious flavors High Brew offers, it's not practical for folks who go through several servings of a cold brew within a single day. Additionally, many Amazon customers note that the packaging for these cans is both difficult to open and ergonomically challenging.

Jot is a relatively high-end cold brew ultra-concentrate brand. Each bottle of concentrate is 20 times more potent than traditional coffee (per Jot ). You'll just need one tablespoon of the concentrate to make your perfect cup of cold brew at home. The brand comes in two varieties: a regular roast and a dark roast. One tablespoon of concentrate has an estimated caffeine concentration of 140 to 150 milligrams, so you can easily customize your coffee experience to suit your ideal coffee profile. Customers of this coffee concentrate have high praises for its strong, pungent flavor in such a small package. The blend is full-bodied with notes of hickory and chocolate.

According to the website, each bottle of Jot makes 14 10-ounce servings of coffee. At $26 a bottle (one-time purchase), this makes your average cost per serving around $1.85 at the time of publication. Plus, you can add a bit of Jot to your ice cream, baked goods, or hot coffee. While convenient, it is more expensive than many of the other cold brew brands on the market.

7. Chameleon

Chameleon is a common cold brew found in grocery store check-out aisles. Unlike other brands,  Chameleon offers a one-gallon box of cold brew concentrate that makes up to 250 cups of cold brew coffee at home — it's the most convenient option for people who drink a lot of cold brew. For the less intrepid cold brew drinkers, you can also find 32-ounce bottles of cold brew concentrate in flavors like heavenly mocha or vanilla, or glass 10-ounce, single-serve bottles in the same flavors.

Chameleon uses organic beans for its coffee and provides funding for technical assistance and food security initiatives in its coffee-growing regions in Columbia, Indonesia, Peru, and others. But how is the flavor? In short, several reviewers for Chameleon's cold brew products have found the taste to be lackluster and weak, more flavored like an iced coffee than a powerful, intense cold brew. But, if you're willing to settle for a less-than-exceptional flavor for the convenience of the boxed concentrate, Chameleon is a solid option.

6. Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's brings out the thrifty in all of us. And why not buy a cheap cold brew coffee, especially if it's a similar flavor to something three times as expensive?

Trader Joe's offers a coffee concentrate  made with medium-roast arabica beans. Each bottle makes about 12 cups of coffee when combined with equal parts water. You can also purchase 32 ounces of ready-to-drink cold brew for $0.17 per fluid ounce at the time of publication. And for those of us who forget to put the cold brew in the fridge the night before, Trader Joe's also offers an instant cold brew powder.  The concentrate is the thriftiest and most flavorful option of the three products. The ready-to-drink multi-serve bottle is on the strong side for flavor, but still could be made unique with the addition of one of Trader Joe's many creamers or sweeteners.

Stok is one of the most recognizable brands in the grocery store cold brew industry. It's one of our top choices for the best overall cold brew coffee  because it is both affordable and available at most grocery stores. Stok is a B-corp brand, meaning that it is dedicated to supporting responsible business practices and ecologically-sustainable production methods. Plus, all of its Arabica beans are Rainforest Alliance certified.

This coffee is very strong and does not present with many bitter or especially acidic notes; the flavors in this cold brew are very mellow and can be sweetened with any of your favorite creamers. The brand offers several flavors and roast types in both multi-serving 48-ounce containers and single-serving 13.7-ounce containers. A 48-ounce container of Stok was listed at Target for $5.49 at the time of publication, or about $0.11 per ounce.

4. Rook Coffee

Rook Coffee  gets an A+ for its beautiful glass cold brew bottles in flavors like New Orleans style, mocha mint, cinnamon vanilla, hazelnut mocha, and traditional. Its tried-and-true varieties are also offered in 100-ounce taps. Its boxes hover around $0.50 per fluid ounce while a 2-pack of 32-ounce bottles is priced at around $0.65 per fluid ounce at the time of publication — but the prices are somewhat variable depending on the flavor.

Reviewers love the New Orleans-style coffee from Rook for its chocolatey notes and full-bodied chicory flavor, as well as the cinnamon vanilla flavor for its warmth and sweet, decadent notes that taste like you're eating a freshly baked sugar cookie. Rook Coffee is also a very friendly brand with excellent and attentive customer service when it comes to its products. The biggest downside of this brand is its price.

3. Slingshot

Slingshot Coffee offers tapped boxes, concentrate, and individual cans of its cold brew coffee. The boxes are a single-origin Ethiopian coffee sold in a 64-ounce container for $15 ($0.23 per fluid ounce) while its 10-ounce cans are sold as a 6-pack for $21 ($3.50 per can) at the time of publication. The concentrate is sold in a beautiful glass bottle for $20 and has enough concentrate to make 32 fluid ounces of cold brew in a matter of seconds. All of these products have about 120 milligrams of caffeine per serving, making them similar to other brands of the same size.

The best value for purchasing Slingshot coffee is to go for the box. But if you find yourself in a coffee-loving household, you may find that you have to purchase several boxes of coffee to sustain your caffeinated tendencies. The flavors of this coffee are immaculate, though, with reviewers noting floral and seemingly herbal undertones.

2. Wandering Bear

Wandering Bear is no stranger to the cold brew coffee scene. The brand offers cold brew boxes, 32-ounce cartons, and bottles of its cold brew coffee. Its original cold brew blend is sold in one-gallon and 96-ounce options while its flavored cold brew comes strictly in the 96-ounce container only. You'll find delightful flavors like caramel, mocha, and even decaf from $28.99 ($0.30 per fluid ounce) at the time of publication. The cartons and bottles of its cold brew only come in one flavor option, straight black, but are still flavorful options for on-the-go coffee drinkers.

The flavor of this coffee is the epitome of what cold brew should be. It's delightfully strong and caffeinated with minimal bitterness. Although it's slightly more expensive than other cold-brew coffee brands, the convenient one-gallon size is ideal for folks who drink a lot of cold brew. Plus, you can pat yourself on the back for purchasing its 100% recyclable boxes and organic coffee from Peru, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

1. Bizzy Coffee

Bizzy exclusively offers ready-to-drink cold brew in light roast, breakfast blend, dark roast, medium, and Italian roast varieties. You can also purchase select seasonal flavors like peppermint mocha or pumpkin spice. Each 48-ounce container is priced at $5.99 at the time of publication, making it one of our lower-priced products at around $0.12 per fluid ounce. All of its roasts are certified organic, which makes this price an even better deal.

The caffeine in this brand varies between 180 and 220 milligrams per cup, meaning that it falls in the sweet spot on the caffeine spectrum. Customers are impressed with its strong flavor, mild flavor notes, and commitment to ethical coffee sourcing. If you're a self-proclaimed coffee snob, you have several coffee roasts to choose from with Bizzy.

The 10 Best Cold Brew Coffee Makers of 2024

We found these to be solid and reliable

The Spruce Eats / Amelia Manley

There are many reasons for the rise in popularity of cold brew coffee : It's easy to make and stays fresh for several days; the strength can be adjusted between a concentrated or diluted brew; and most importantly, it’s downright delicious. We sent cold brew coffee makers to our expert food writers so they could put them through our comprehensive testing process . They evaluated each one on its usability, design, performance, and value to help customers find the best option for their coffee needs.

Best overall, toddy cold brew coffee maker system.

Easy-to-follow recipes

Easy cleanup

Setup is tricky

Pouring lip isn't very precise

Cold brew coffee has been around for centuries, but the Toddy has played an integral part in the modern craze surrounding the beverage. The device was invented in the 1960s by Todd Simpson after he encountered cold brew on a visit to Peru. Once it hit the U.S., the Toddy grew in popularity because it allowed coffee lovers to easily make cold brew right from home.

The design has changed very little over the years. The Toddy is comprised of a large plastic container that sits atop a glass decanter. To use, let coffee grounds and water soak in the plastic container for the recommended time, place the container on the decanter, and release a small silicone stopper to fill the decanter with your fresh cold brew. Our product tester wrote that the "setup requires close attention the first time around" and may be trickier than that of other cold brew makers. However, the review was largely positive aside from this critique. Our reviewer added that cleanup is easy because all of the pieces detach and are dishwasher safe, except for the filter. They also praised the coffee's flavor, calling it "very strong, yet smooth" and noted that a "single batch lasted a long time."

Best for Longer Storage

Ovalware cold brew maker.

Sleek design

Flavorful cold brew

Easy to use

Perfect size for fridge

Lid comes off

Some grounds get in cold brew

If you’re not one to drink multiple cups of coffee per day, you could definitely benefit from the Ovalware Airtight Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker and Tea Infuser, which is great for storing your homemade cold brew for several days. This affordable product includes a glass carafe and stainless steel filter that will help you make great coffee every time.

The Ovalware Airtight Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker holds up to four cups of coffee, and thanks to its airtight seal, it will keep your java fresh for up to two weeks. It can also brew tasty iced tea . The product’s steel filter is made of superfine mesh, and both pieces are dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. After testing the product, our reviewer raved that the item was "very easy to use and fits perfectly in just about any fridge, making it highly adaptable to any kitchen.” Just watch out for the pesky lid, which "doesn't stay on perfectly" and may cause leaking.

According to users, another downside of this product is that fine particles of coffee sometimes seep through the filter into the cold brew. However, most people say these particles sink to the bottom, so as long as you’re careful pouring, they won’t get into your cup.

Best Features

Oxo good grips cold brew coffee maker.

High-quality cold brew concentrate

Disassembles for easy cleanup and storage

Visually appealing design

Clear brewing instructions

Time-consuming setup

This big brewer might be a counter hog, but it brews some mighty fine cold brew concentrate and is extremely easy to use. The OXO "Rainmaker" water dispersion technology keeps the extraction consistent while allowing the user to "set it and forget it," which is pretty much the whole point of cold brew. Our product tester said the resulting flavor is "very smooth and flavorful" and, as an added bonus, the mesh filter prevents grounds from spilling into the coffee.

The glass carafe into which the concentrate is brewed feels very delicate, but the clear markings and silicone-sealed top make it a lovely and functional vessel. Optional paper filters can contribute even more clarity to the finished product, but the built-in metal mesh is an eco-friendly element to the contraption. Dispensing is easy and there's even a measuring cup to help you properly dilute the concentrate. It's fairly expensive for a cold brew coffee maker, but we view it as a good value nonetheless; as our reviewer writes, the "product pays for itself quickly."

Best Budget

County line kitchen cold brew mason jar coffee maker.

Durable, quality materials

Easy, intuitive setup

Great for parties

Rustic design

Confusing instructions

Awkward to fit in fridge

If you have a rustic or country aesthetic, the County Line Kitchen Cold Brew Coffee Maker is a beautiful match for your kitchen, and it comes at a budget price. The design of this Mason jar may be simple, but the item is durable, efficient, and makes great coffee.

Not only is this cold brew maker stylish, but it’s a simple, foolproof system for easy cold brew. Put coffee into the stainless steel filter, add water, and allow it to steep overnight. After testing the item firsthand, our reviewer found it "super easy to use and setup" and added that it is "definitely worth buying."

The jar can hold up to 2 quarts of coffee, and the silicone seal makes sure the lid stays on tightly. Our product tester noted that the filter successfully keeps coffee grinds out of the liquid and that both the steeper and jar are incredibly durable. The only thing to watch out for is that the "instructions for making the cold brew are pretty vague." Our tester was forced to "look up a recipe online that wasn't necessarily fitted to this specific cold brew maker."

Best Automatic

Cuisinart automatic cold brew coffee maker.

Fast brewing

Adjustable coffee strength

Dishwasher-safe parts

Modern design

Fragile filter basket

Loud while brewing

The majority of cold brew coffee makers are low-tech and take a long time to steep. Not so with the Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker. Though a little pricey, it can whip up a 7-cup batch of cold brew in 25 to 45 minutes. The exact brew time depends on what strength you prefer the cold brew to be—mild, medium, or bold. Even on the longest setting, however, the item far outpaces the multiple hours it takes to use most cold brew makers.

And don't be daunted by the automated design. This machine is extremely intuitive and actually works similar to a standard drip coffee maker: scoop the grounds into the filter, fill the water reservoir, and hit go.

One downside is that the machine is fairly noisy while brewing; this may be especially frustrating since it takes longer than a normal drip coffee maker to brew. On top of that, several customers faced issues with the filter basket, saying it's on the fragile side. There are certainly pros and cons to consider with the Cuisinart Automatic Cold Brew Coffeemaker, but if you want a versatile and lightning-fast machine that does the work for you, this is the top option.

Best Ease of Use

Hario mizudashi cold brew coffee pot.

Dishwasher safe

Available in multiple sizes

Tall for some refrigerators

Glass is thin

Cold brew coffee is already one of the least fussy ways to get caffeinated, but this no-frills little number from Japanese coffee giant Hario couldn't be simpler. Coffee goes into the reusable mesh basket—no cloth or paper filters to futz around with—and is submerged into cool or room-temperature water. All it takes is time to do the rest of the work: The coffee will steep for 12–24 hours, after which you lift the grounds in the basket out of the finished liquid. While metal mesh can be somewhat tricky to scrub completely clean, it still beats the soaking and rinsing of cloth filters, and it creates far less waste than paper. Hario is a manufacturer that knows its stuff when it comes to coffee, and this little inexpensive brewer is where it's at.

Best for Large Quantities

Kitchenaid cold brew coffee maker.

Easy-pour spout

Convenient handle for portability

Prone to leaking

Want to make a big batch of cold brew for your next party? Then you need the KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker, which is available in two large sizes (28 and 38 ounces) and has a convenient tap for pouring.

This sleek cold brew maker is made of stainless steel and glass for a sophisticated design. Simply put coffee and water into the machine, then place the whole thing in the fridge to steep. Once you’re ready to serve, you can press the included tap to dispense the right amount of coffee into your cup. Since it’s a bigger brewer, the stainless steel steeper includes measurement marks in case you just want to make a few servings.

Reviewers say the KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker makes great coffee and is ideal for entertaining guests. While this product is more expensive than many comparable cold brew machines, it’s worth the price if you drink a lot of coffee or frequently host parties.

Best Rapid Brewer

Presto dorothy rapid cold brewer.

Adjustable spin speed

Carafe and filter are dishwasher safe

The cold brew process usually takes hours, but the Presto Dorothy Rapid Cold Brewer can make 22 ounces of refreshing coffee in as little as 15 minutes. It works by spinning coffee grounds and water inside a glass carafe, quickly diffusing flavor into every sip. Many users say the cold brew tastes better after longer intervals, even up to 30 minutes, so it may take some trial and error to find the best balance. Luckily, it's easy to use. All you have to do is pour in water, turn the dial to your preferred spin speed (try starting slowly as the device can get messy), and scoop in coffee grounds.

Another drawback to watch out for, along with the mess, is that the filter isn't the absolute finest, so the last couple sips could have some coffee silt in them. Once you're finished brewing, the carafe and filter are safe to put in the dishwasher. The Presto Dorothy also comes at a reasonable price considering it's an automatic cold brew maker.

Best Kyoto Style

Nispira cold brew drip tower.

Rich and unique flavor

More stylish than other cold brew makers

Can infuse alcohol and oils

No warranty

Difficult to clean

Kyoto-style cold brew is made by slowly dripping water over coffee grounds, in contrast to the standard immersion method used by most cold brew makers. The brew process, also referred to as "slow drip," harkens back to the 17th century in Kyoto, Japan, where cold brew first came about. Drip towers like this one from Yama Glass are the best way to make Kyoto-style cold brew as the drop-by-drop process amplifies the smooth and sweet flavor that cold brew is already known for.

Our favorite slow dripper is the Nispira Cold Brew Drip Tower. The wood-and-glass design is stunning and makes for a unique accent piece in any kitchen. It's available in two sizes: 600 milliliters (20.3 ounces) and 2500 milliliters (84.5 ounces). The smaller model yields about 6 to 8 cups of coffee, making it ideal for home use. While it's certainly expensive for a cold brew maker, it's a fair price considering how intricate the design is and it's akin to other tower drippers. Customers say assembly is easy but warn that the item feels fragile when using; on top of that, the brand does not offer a warranty. That said, we recommend it for ardent coffee lovers who want a brewer and a beverage unlike any other.

Best With Dispenser

Willow & everett cold brew coffee maker.

Large capacity

Classic Mason jar aesthetic

Dishwasher safe (excluding the filter)

Cheap filter

Spigot occasionally leaks

What could be easier than the Willow and Everett Cold Brew Maker? Just fill the removable stainless steel filter with your favorite ground coffee , add water, and snap the lid on. Then place the brewer in the refrigerator to steep. When morning comes, turn the spigot to dispense coffee into your mug or thermos and you’re on your way.

The coffee filter is a very fine mesh stainless steel, so you won’t get grounds in your drink or need to purchase disposable paper filters. It's easy to remove the filter once the coffee has steeped enough and simple to clean. The glass jar is dishwasher safe, so cleanup is easy there too when you’ve finished the last of the coffee. Customers add that the simplicity and affordable price make the Willow and Everett Cold Brew Maker an excellent gift option. Plus, it looks great on the counter or in the fridge.

Style: Immersion | Capacity: 64 and 128 ounces | Material: Glass | Warranty: 1 year

The Toddy Cold Brew System provides delicious, hassle-free coffee and, after testing it ourselves, we think it's a notch above the competition. The County Line Kitchen Cold Brew Maker is worth consideration too, especially if you're looking to save a few bucks.

The cold brew coffee makers included in this article were tested firsthand by our expert food writers. Our team spent weeks evaluating the items in their kitchens to see how each one performed after everyday use. Some of the areas our reviewers focused on include how easy the brewer is to assemble, use, and clean; the style and efficiency of its design; and of course how good the coffee tastes. After testing, our writers submitted feedback about what they liked and disliked, and they rated each brewer on the following features: usability, design, performance, and value.

What to Look for in a Cold Brew Coffee Maker

By Derek Rose

Brewing Method

A cold brew maker will rely on one of two brewing methods: immersion or slow drip. Immersion, the most common style, is when coffee grounds are soaked in cold water anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. The resulting coffee is often so strong that it’s more of a coffee concentrate, meant to be mixed with water or milk before drinking. With slow drip (also called Kyoto or Dutch-style), cold water gradually drips through a bed of coffee grounds. This process takes about half the time of immersion and does not need to be diluted. There are also automatic cold brew makers out there as well, but they will utilize one of these two primary brewing methods nonetheless.

Filter or Infuser

Some cold brew coffee makers use paper filters, like a traditional drip machine, others use stainless steel mesh infusers. The difference may seem slight, but it affects an item’s ease of use as well as the ease of cleaning up afterward. On one hand, it’s simple to throw out a paper filter after brewing; on the downside, you have to keep replenishing them and they can be messy if you spill. Metal infusers save money in the long run. Just check reviews ahead of time, as low-quality infusers may allow loose grounds to slip into the coffee.

Cold brew makers are generally quite compact, especially compared to other kinds of coffee makers. Many are designed to fit inside of a fridge, so they can be as small as an iced tea pitcher or Mason jar. That being said, you will also come across some rather large and bulky options that may not fit as easily in your kitchen. The overall capacity of cold brew makers also varies. If you prefer brewing a big batch at once and keeping it around to drink for a couple weeks, spend the extra money on a larger option, even if takes up a little more space. If you don’t mind making only a few cups at a time, you have even more options to choose from.

While the majority of cold brew makers are affordable, there is certainly a wide range of prices. Think about the price range you are comfortable with, from a few dollars all the way up to a few hundred. Some factors that affect item cost include size, whether it's automatic or not, and the intricacy of its design. For example, there are some incredibly elaborate drip-style cold brew makers that are a couple feet tall and contain a system of glass beakers that will be on the highest end of the price range. Fortunately, even inexpensive models can make tasty coffee with the right bag of beans and proper measurements.

Types of Cold Brew Coffee Makers

The majority of cold brew makers use what is known as an immersion brewing method. It’s where coffee grounds are directly soaked in water for several hours, slowly extracting all the wonderful flavor and caffeine. One of the most popular examples in this category is the Toddy Cold Brew System—though, there are many other reliable options out there. Immersion cold brew makers tend to produce incredibly strong coffee, even stronger than the second most common variety of cold brew maker, slow drip. While it all depends on the coffee-to-water ratio you use, you will likely have to dilute the final product with milk or water before drinking. The main downside to immersion brewing is that it takes so much time. But, aside from that, it remains the most tried-and-true method for delicious cold brew.

"You can over-extract all coffee, but I would say that cold brew is the most forgiving. Seeing that it takes 18 to 20 hours to brew, there’s a little more flexibility with it. You can give it a longer steep time, pour in more water—it’s just a little more flexible." — Timothy Johnson , Head of Education and Training at Vibe Coffee Group

Way back in the 1600s, Dutch merchants at sea, without access to hot water, began dripping cold water over coffee grounds. Thus, cold brew was born. It’s believed that they passed this brewing method along at Japanese trading ports. Centuries later, the style is still widely popular. Slow drip cold brew, also called Dutch or Kyoto-style cold brew, is made when water slowly passes through coffee grounds from above and then down into a carafe. The process is actually similar to that of an electric drip coffee maker, but with cold brew the ordeal takes several hours. The primary benefits of slow drip are that the coffee is less acidic than immersion cold brew (which is already low in acidity to begin with) and, secondly, that it’s a little faster than the immersion method. Keep in mind that drip cold brew makers are often quite tall, so measure the height of your cupboards or fridge shelves ahead of time.

Cold brew is already easy to make—all you really need is ground coffee, water, and a jar—and yet brands are simplifying the process even further by manufacturing automatic cold brew makers. There are two clear advantages to this route. First, automatic cold brew makers prepare coffee much faster than non-electric devices, some as quickly as five minutes. Second, these items may offer greater versatility, especially regarding cold brew strength. On the downside, customers should expect automatic cold brew makers to be more expensive.

There’s a good chance you already have an OXO product in your home. The American company originated 30 years ago when founder Sam Farber, whose wife had arthritis, sought to design more ergonomic kitchen items. The brand now manufactures everything from tiny utensils to full-sized appliances. OXO’s line of coffee products has especially grown over the years, today incorporating two different cold brew makers. Both options are immersion based and worth consideration. The main difference between them is that one holds 32 ounces and the other is a more compact 16-ounce brewer.

Many brands only manufacture one kind of cold brew maker. Not Primula . The 30-year-old company offers several different models, from standard at-home cold brew makers to portable devices for those who want to take their joe on the go. Most Primula options are affordably priced and use the immersion brewing process. Even if the products all lead to a similar quality of taste, it’s still nice to have more options when searching.

Toddy revolutionized homemade cold brew in the 1960s with its famous Toddy Cold Brew System. The simple, time-tested device uses immersion-style brewing to whip up extremely rich and flavorful cold brew. The coffee is so rich, in fact, that it’s usually closer to a cold brew concentrate, which should be diluted with water or your preferred milk before drinking. Toddy manufactures other cold brew makers too, but the original Toddy Cold Brew System remains its most popular item and one certainly worth checking out.

Maintenance

While maintenance instructions vary from product to product, cold brew coffee makers are much easier to use and clean than other brewing devices. Not only are many dishwasher safe, but you won’t have to endure the arduous process of descaling. However, some cold brew makers may have several small parts that need to be removed and hand-washed individually, especially if the item has a spout or overhead filter. Ease of cleaning is also affected by whether your cold brew maker uses paper filters or a metal infuser . Filters can be thrown out after brewing but may occasionally spill loose grounds on the countertop. Infusers can generally be put in the dishwasher but should ideally be cleaned after every use.

As far as brewing instructions go, the proper coffee-to-water ratio is very much up to personal preference. If you want medium-strength cold brew that does not need to be diluted before drinking, try a 1:8 ratio—one part coffee and eight parts water. Make sure to use coarse-ground coffee beans for optimal results. For cold brew concentrate, a 1:4 ratio (one part coffee, four parts water) is a good place to start. Timothy Johnson , the Head of Education and Training at Vibe Coffee Group, recommends letting the grounds steep for 18 to 20 hours for the best results.

What coffee beans should I use for cold brew?

Darker roasts and a coarser grind size are recommended for cold brew. "We find that medium to medium-dark roasts extract way better," says Timothy Johnson of Vibe Coffee Group. "If you’re trying to brew something lighter and the flavor notes on the bag are like jasmine, lemongrass, and raspberries, that may not brew very well as cold brew. But if you look at something that’s like dark chocolate, cane sugar, and dried cherry, that might brew better as cold brew because it has deeper notes that will come through and shine with that longer brew method."

How is cold brew different from iced coffee?

Cold brew is not only different from iced coffee in the way it's prepared but in the overall taste too. Traditional iced coffee is made by brewing coffee hot first and then chilling it with ice afterward. Cold brew, on the other hand, is made by steeping coffee beans in nothing but cold water for several hours. This makes cold brew lower in acidity and able to stay fresh for a much longer period of time than iced coffee.

Timothy Johnson , the Head of Education and Training of Vibe Coffee Group, says the two drinks are so different in brew method that it's "like comparing a French press to a pour over." Cold brew is made through immersion brewing, whereas

What is cold brew coffee concentrate?

Cold brew can be broken down into two categories. One kind is ready to drink right when it’s finished brewing. The other kind, cold brew concentrate , is so strong that it should be diluted with milk or water before drinking. Most cold brew coffee makers can produce either kind. It all depends on the ratio of coffee grounds to water used. A mixture of one part coffee grounds to four parts water (1:4) is commonly used for cold brew concentrate, while a 1:8 ratio should be ready to drink as soon as it's finished steeping.

Is cold brew less acidic than other coffee?

Yes, cold brew is less acidic than other forms of coffee, whether it be traditional iced coffee or drip. Since cold brew is made by using cold water instead of hot, the coffee beans don’t release the same amount of oil that they would if brewed at higher temperatures. One last quick tip: dark roast coffee beans are less acidic than light roast coffee beans, so consider giving those a shot if you want even less acidity in your cold brew.

Best new addition to your cold brew routine: verve honey lavender flash brew oat milk latte.

Cold coffee season is officially upon us! Though we consider cold brew a year-round thing (in fact our Cold Brew Coffee Maker just so happens to be one of our favorite appliances), there's something about sipping on it during hot summer months that just hits differently. Whether you prefer to drink yours black or you add a splash of creamer, almond, oat or dairy milk inside, there’s no doubt that cold brew is the queen bean. If you haven’t jumped on the trend as of yet or you’re just looking for a new blend, we have some exciting news for you. After downing numerous glasses of boxed, canned and bottled cold brew concentrates, nitros and draft lattes, we’ve rounded up the best cold brew coffees you can purchase in stores and online right now. Here are all the brands that had us grabbing a second glass.

The Best Overall: illy Ready to Drink Cold Brew Cappuccino

We tried illy’s ready-to-drink cold brew cappuccino and we were instant fans. The unique flavor is one of two new canned offerings available from the brand this year — the second is velvety-smooth latte macchiato. Made from illy’s signature 100% Arabica coffee blend, this cappuccino is cold brewed for 12 hours to give you a bold jolt of caffeine with subtle hints of cocoa. If your favorite part of a hot cappuccino is the bubbly foam, you won’t be disappointed either — the beverage contains a light hint of milk fat, which froths up quite nicely when you pour it over ice. Our panel of testers were also big fans of the 8.45 oz. slim can, which is the perfect size for just about any on-the-go summer activity, including pool lounging, bike riding and backyard sunbathing.

The Best Nitro Brew: Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew Splash of Sweet Cream

If you're a fan of Starbucks' in-store Nitro cold brew, but find yourself too busy to run in and grab one during the work week, you’ll want to add a few cans of this Splash of Sweet Cream version to your fridge. Of all the nitros we tested, this one was the only option that retained its foamy texture from our first sip to our very last. This is all thanks to the nitrogen microbubbles infused within the coffee. If you’re someone who prefers coffee drinks with a touch of sugar, you’ll also appreciate the hint of sweet cream, which keeps this cold brew from being overly acidic and bitter. Be sure to drink this one cold or over ice to get the full effect!

The Best Canned Latte: La Colombe Triple Latte

Making hot lattes isn't too difficult, but replicating all their luscious goodness in a cold and canned beverage is a lot harder than you might think. Not only is the milk vs. coffee ratio key, but for it to still qualify as a latte, you also need plenty of bubbles on top. We’re happy to report that La Colombe’s Triple Latte hits the mark on both of those fronts. In fact, we’d say that a good 3/4 of the beverage actually settled into a thick and creamy foam when we poured it out of the can! The coffee itself is super robust thanks to the three shots of espresso housed within it. If you rely on coffee to get your morning off on the right foot, this is the cold brew choice for you!

The Best New Orleans Style: Rook New Orleans Style Cold Brew Coffee

You can't talk (or do a taste test) about cold brew coffee without including New Orleans Style options. The distinct flavor is a beloved staple at coffee shops in Louisiana and across the country, and it’s popping up more and more frequently on grocery store shelves too. We drank quite a few NOLA varieties for this roundup and Rook’s New Orleans Style Cold Brew was hands down our favorite. The offering is one of the New Jersey-based chain’s all-time bestsellers, and after drinking just a cup worth of it, it was easy to see why. Unlike other New Orleans Style options, Rook’s is completely free of added sweeteners and syrups. Instead, Rook blends dark roasted ground coffee with chicory, then brews the mixture with cold-filtered water for several hours. The end result is a cold brew that tastes rich, smokey and slightly woodsy. One of our testers even swore it reminded them of a Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate bar! If you prefer cold brews with an extra kick, be sure to follow the brand on Instagram — they sell limited and seasonal releases year-round, including these past favorites: Banana Toffee, Coconut Mocha, Apple Pie and S’mores.

The Best To Drink Black: Califia Farms Pure Black Medium Roast Cold Brew

This pure black cold brew option from Califia Farms is the ultimate choice for straight coffee drinkers. The medium roast is made from exactly two ingredients — water and coffee made from 100% Arabica beans — and can even be heated up on the stove or in the microwave, if you prefer to drink your cold brew hot (yes, that’s actually a thing.) Our tasters tried this cold brew three different ways — black, with a splash of oat milk and with coffee creamer — and found it to be smooth and robust each and every time. They also all noted that there was no bitterness whatsoever when they drank it straight, which really surprised them! The blend is also available in shelf stable boxes , so stocking up is totally acceptable if you happen to love it just as much as our panel did. Like your cold brew on the sweeter side?! Be sure to check out Califia’s line of almond- and oat milk-based coffee creamers. The cookie butter flavor is out of this world!

The Best Oat Milk Variety: Lavazza Double Shot Oat Milk Cold Brew

Our testers had some pretty high standards when it came to the canned cold brew with oat milk options they drank for this roundup. Overall, they were looking for one that was equal parts creamy and smooth, with a slight touch of sweetness, and they found that while sipping on Lavazza’s brand-new Double Shot Cold Brew Coffee with Oat Milk. The canned treat, which is modeled after Italian doppios or double-espressos, is perfectly balanced with a thick and creamy layer of coffee foam on top. The drink also had chocolate tasting notes, which reminded our testers of ice cold chocolate milk.

The Biggest Bang for Your Buck: Wandering Bear Hazelnut Cold Brew on Tap

Wandering Bear’s Hazelnut Cold Brew on Tap was a twofer for our panel of coffee drinkers — not only was it the best flavored cold brew they tasted, but it was also the only one that lasted the longest in their refrigerators. That’s because there’s 96 oz. of coffee packed inside the box! That’s the equivalent of 16 glasses. Apart from being a total bang for your buck, our colleagues also found this cold brew to be the one that gave them the biggest caffeine jolt, adding that even a small cupful went a really long way in helping them get through the dreaded afternoon slump. The nutty flavor is more light than overpowering, and more than one of our testers noted that the cold brew omitted a very pleasant aroma everytime they poured some out of the box. Wandering Bear is also the only brand we found that sells a decaf version of their cold brew, which is great for late-night coffee enjoyment.

The Best Cold Brew Concentrate: Jot Original

It might surprise you to learn that cold brew and cold brew concentrate are two different things. Unlike all the other options on this list, which you can drink straight from the bottle or can if you so choose, cold brew concentrate is a lot stronger and should be diluted with milk or water before you start sipping. Our taste testers used both to dilute Jot's Original Concentrate, since it's 20 times stronger than other options currently on the market. The results were pretty stellar. "Robust," "bold" and "super-charged" were the words our panel used to describe it, so if you are someone who is looking for a cold coffee option that actually tastes like coffee, add this one to your cart asap! Note: don't be alarmed by Jot's tiny-sized bottles. Though small, each one contains about 14 cups’ worth of coffee. In fact, a tablespoon of this concentrate is all you need to make any hot or iced beverage, even affogato!

The Best "Bagged" Variety: Chamberlain Coffee Elephant XL Cold Brew Bags

TikTokers can't get enough of influencer Emma Chamberlain's new line of ground and whole bean coffees. The brand's Elephant XL Cold Brew Bags were a hit with our testers too, who loved the convenience of being able to make the coffee overnight. Simply drop the coffee-filled bag into a pitcher or large jar, submerge it in water and refrigerate! One bag also makes about 12 cups of cold brew, so you're set for at least 2 weeks, if you choose to go with this variety. Despite having a caffeine level of 5/5, our testers did note that it was lighter than all the other bagged coffee options they tried, so be sure to keep that in mind.

If you're a fan of Pop & Bottle’s antioxidant-, collagen- and adaptogen-rich canned oatmilk lattes , you'll equally love their newest line of super coffee concentrates. The boldly caffeinated collection comes with three flavors total — Vanilla, Mocha and Original Coffee. Our panel of taste testers liked the woman-owned business' Mocha variety best of all, which they found to be heavy on both the chocolate flavoring and the caffeine. It truly gave them the jolt they were after! They also loved just how versatile this concentrate is — not only can it be poured over ice and paired with your choice of milk and coffee creamer, but you can also heat it up and use it to make a bevy of hot coffee drinks, including Americanos, lattes and cappuccinos.

If we were asked to name the "official" coffee drink of the summer, these flash brewed Honey Lavender lattes from Verve Coffee Roasters would be it. The uniquely-flavored, first-of-its-kind offering had our panel of testers raving for days (and subsequently ordering even more cans!) Unlike some of the other canned lattes they tasted for this roundup, these Honey Lavender ones had the perfect amount of oat milk, which made the drink beautifully creamy and adequately frothy. In fact, our testers were really impressed with just how long the drink remained so! The lavender flavor is nicely subtle too, in case you’re someone who isn’t a big fan of including floral notes in drinks. To quote one of our editors, "just do yourself a favor, and get 'em!"

As a busy mom of two and also training for a marathon , I’ve often wished for a convenient solution that doesn’t compromise on the fresh, robust taste of a coffee-shop brew. The dilemma of time versus quality can feel like choosing between a peaceful morning run or a tantrum-free school drop-off.

Enter Wandering Bear Iced Coffee .

I have been seeing ads all over my Facebook feed for this coffee and recently decided to order some to see if it lives up to the hype.

About Wandering Bear Coffee

My experience and review, packaging and design, price and value, pros and cons, the verdict, frequently asked questions.

If you’re looking for a delicious and convenient coffee option, Wandering Bear Coffee might be just what you need.

This New York-based company offers a range of high-quality coffee products that are perfect for busy coffee lovers.

Company History

Wandering Bear Coffee was founded in 2014 by two friends, Matt Bachmann and Ben Gordon. The company started as a cold brew coffee stand at a farmers’ market in New York City and quickly gained a following for its delicious and smooth coffee.

In 2016, Wandering Bear Coffee launched its first product line, which included cold brew coffee in a box. The company’s products are now available in retailers across the United States (mainly on the East and West Coasts) as well as on Amazon and their own website .

As any busy parent can relate, I’m always on the hunt for shortcuts to simplify my day without compromising on quality.

Whether it’s a new workout routine on the Peloton or a family-friendly meal prepping hack, I’m all in.

So, when I kept seeing ads on Facebook for Wandering Bear Iced Coffee , specifically their tantalizing Coconut flavor, it felt like the universe was sending me a sign. I love coconut iced coffee, so I knew I had to try it!

The promise of a convenient, coffee-shop quality brew right from my fridge was too good to pass up.

Ordering (or Attempting To)

With high hopes and a serious need for caffeine, I ventured onto their website, ready to place my order. But unfortunately, the Coconut flavor was nowhere to be found on the site. The dream of tropical coffee bliss was starting to seem more like a mirage.

After reaching out to customer service, they informed me that their seasonal flavors tend to sell out quickly – a testament to their popularity, but a disappointment for latecomers like myself, especially since they were running an ad campaign.

But I wasn’t ready to abandon ship just yet.

I decided to go with their Black Iced Coffee, hoping it could at least fill the void left by the elusive Coconut flavor. And oh boy, did it deliver!

Tasting the Coffee

Upon tasting it, the richness and depth of flavor were instantly noticeable. The smoothness was reminiscent of the cold brew from my favorite coffee shop, and it was certainly stronger than the coffee I whip up with my Nespresso.

This wasn’t just some off-the-shelf iced coffee; this was a high-quality brew that could hold its own.

Aside from the remarkable taste, the convenience of having this box in my fridge cannot be overstated. With a whopping 16 cups in each box, I found myself set for a good while.

And the price tag?

At $28.99 per box, each 16 oz pour works out to be just $1.81 – way cheaper than a trip to the coffee shop where I’m paying over $4 for a cup of cold brew.

So, despite the initial setback with the Coconut flavor, Wandering Bear’s Black Iced Coffee has proven to be a worthy addition to my fridge , promising a quick, delicious start to my busy mornings.

Now, as a coffee lover, you and I both know that great taste is only part of the equation. We also care about the packaging, convenience, and, crucially, the freshness of our beloved brew.

In these aspects, Wandering Bear doesn’t just wander – it strides confidently.

The packaging design of Wandering Bear Iced Coffee screams modern, clean, and functional. The box itself has a minimalist vibe with a cheeky bear logo, clearly reflecting the brand’s laid-back yet bold personality. It’s also pretty compact, so it doesn’t take up too much precious space in the fridge.

It’s a fun addition to the fridge and a great conversation starter when friends drop by for a visit.

But the real show-stopper is the in-built tap. It’s a game-changer for those of us accustomed to fumbling with jars and containers in the early morning hours.

Just place the box in your fridge, and the tap is ready to dispense your fresh iced coffee whenever you need it.

No fuss, no mess, just a steady stream of chilled, aromatic coffee at your fingertips.

Even better, the tap system ensures your coffee stays fresh for 30 days . That’s right, a whole month of delicious coffee-shop quality cold brew right in your own home.

It’s a testament to the brand’s commitment to delivering quality and convenience hand in hand.

However, if you’re thinking, “A whole box is too much for me,” Wandering Bear has got you covered. They also offer single-serve options that provide the same quality brew in a smaller, equally convenient package.

It’s evident that Wandering Bear caters to all kinds of coffee drinkers, ensuring we all get to enjoy their exceptional coffee, regardless of our consumption habits.

Wandering Bear Coffee

When it comes to the cost of Wandering Bear Iced Coffee, I’ll admit, the initial price tag might make you do a double take. But, when you consider the quality, convenience, and pure deliciousness of this coffee, the numbers begin to make sense.

Let’s start with the basics: you can choose to buy individual boxes or opt for a bundle, where buying more saves you more. It’s a neat option for the caffeine-obsessed among us, or if you’re thinking of splitting the cost with a friend or two.

And let’s not forget about the membership option. For a small annual fee, you’re granted early access to sales and those enticing limited edition flavors.

Imagine having first dibs on the holiday Peppermint Mocha or the tantalizing Coconut before everyone else!

As for the smaller quantities, they offer compact cartons and single serves, perfect for the occasional iced coffee drinker or if you’re looking to add some variety to your caffeine routine.

And here’s where it really pays off: their subscribe and save option. You can arrange for monthly deliveries of your favorite brew and save 10% while doing so.

The cherry on top?

You don’t have to fret about storage. Unopened coffee can be kept at room temperature until you’re ready to indulge.

While Wandering Bear Iced Coffee may seem pricier than your average off-the-shelf iced coffee, the value you’re getting in return is substantial. This is a high-end, coffee shop quality brew, conveniently boxed and ready to pour whenever you need that caffeine fix.

Factor in the taste, convenience, and the variety of options available, and you’ve got yourself a pretty sweet deal.

Currently Wandering Bear has the following flavors available:

Straight Black

Dirty Vanilla Chai

Peppermint Mocha (seasonal)

Pumpkin Spice (seasonal)

Almond Armaretto (seasonal)

Toasted Coconut (seasonal)

They’re always adding new seasonal flavors to the rotation so keep an eye on their website.

Let’s boil down my Wandering Bear Iced Coffee experience into a list of pros and cons to help you decide whether it’s right for you:

Here are a few pros of Wandering Bear coffee:

The coffee itself is top-notch. It’s smooth, strong, and delivers a flavorful punch that rivals a coffee shop cold brew.

Convenience

The fridge-ready box with a built-in tap means you have fresh iced coffee on demand, whenever you need it.

It’s fun and modern, adding a little whimsy to your refrigerator landscape. Plus it doesn’t take up too much space!

The tap system ensures your coffee stays fresh for up to 30 days once opened.

Serving Size Options

From a hefty 96 oz box to 32 oz cartons and 12 oz single serves, they cater to a variety of needs.

Despite the higher initial cost, the per-serving price rivals that of many premium coffees.

Membership Benefits

Early access to sales, secret menu items, and limited edition flavors.

The coffee doesn’t need to be refrigerated until it’s ready to use, saving you valuable fridge space.

While there are a lot of pros, let’s take a look at a few of the cons of Wandering Bear Coffee.

Seasonal Flavors Availability

Their limited edition flavors sell out quickly. This might be disappointing if you’re eager to try a specific flavor, though membership can alleviate this problem.

For some, the initial price might seem high, although the overall value considering quality, convenience, and per-serving cost is excellent.

Website Navigation

While this didn’t affect my overall experience, the initial difficulty finding the desired flavor on their site is worth mentioning, especially since they’re advertising it.

Overall, I found the pros significantly outweigh the cons.

Wandering Bear Iced Coffee is a quality product that offers an excellent balance of convenience, taste, and value, especially for those of us who crave a good cup of iced coffee to kick-start our busy days.

wandering bear coffee nutrition

To wrap it all up, my experience with Wandering Bear Iced Coffee has been overwhelmingly positive.

Despite some initial hiccups in the ordering process and a higher-than-average price tag, the taste, quality, and convenience offered by Wandering Bear make it a clear winner in my book.

The fun, eco-friendly packaging and the ease of having a fresh, delicious iced coffee on tap right from my fridge far outweigh the cons.

And let’s not forget about the excellent value you get in the long run, not just in terms of cost per serving but also the time and energy saved from brewing or making that daily coffee shop run.

Plus, with the additional benefits of the membership, Wandering Bear makes it easy for all coffee enthusiasts to enjoy premium, coffee-shop quality cold brew from the comfort of their own homes.

So if you’re in the market for a convenient, high-quality iced coffee solution, I recommend giving Wandering Bear a try.

After all, who wouldn’t want to start their day off on the right paw… I mean, foot?

Wandering Bear Coffee Review: This Cold Brew Coffee On Tap Has Got Me Wired

Umama kibria.

In partnership with Wandering Bear.

My cold brew journey began during the pandemic, when every morning felt like a Saturday morning thanks to the luxury of time and many, many homemade batches. I love the full coffee experience: freshly roasted espresso, chilled overnight, iced – add a splash of creamy oat milk, 5 pumps of sweetener, and shake it right up.

However, I regularly spend $12+ on my coffee shop order and delivery now that my life has returned to its normal routine. I was looking for a way to cut down on this outrageous cost when my friend Kristen posted an Instagram story of the cold brew coffee she keeps on tap in her fridge. I responded right away: Me: WHAT IS THIS WIZARDRY? Kristen : Wandering Bear coffee on tap! I’M WIRED! Me: *Adds to Cart*

Battle of the Brew

Wandering Bear is an organic strong and smooth cold brew coffee on tap. Think boxed wine, but cold brew coffee. Like most great startups, Wandering Bear was born on a college campus. Co-founder Matthew Bachmann doesn’t describe himself as a morning person. That’s why a homemade caffeinated cold brew was the fuel for his existence. He walked into his Columbia grad school class to find fellow classmate Ben Gordon (his co-founder) with a homemade cold brew, too. It was love at first sip. Their relationship quickly turned into a battle of the best brew – who could make the strongest and smoothest batch.

Most of the cold brews on the market lacked freshness, were full of sugar and had shelf lives that killed the caffeinated energy they were seeking. In 2014, they launched their first coffee kitchen in Queens, New York. Wandering Bear was the first to revolutionize the bag-in-a-box cold brew coffee on tap. Now, Matt and Ben are bringing coffee shop quality cold brew at the push of a button to a fridge near you.

What’s This Cold Brew Craze About? ‍

As the first coffee on tap, Wandering Bear checks the box but for convenience – but how strong is it? Very. The coffee is made with 100% organic arabica coffee grown in Peru, Colombia, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Get a punch of extra caffeine with 2 espresso shots in every 6 oz serving (that’s 150mg of caffeine). The brand locks in all that flavor with its thoughtful boxed packaging that keeps it fresher longer. It stays fresh for up to 30 days without diminishing the flavor or strength.

Wandering Bear is known for being big on taste, but small on environmental impact. That’s why each case is 100% recyclable (even the tap cap is made of sugarcane!). But that’s the only sugar you’ll find near this cold brew. Wandering Bear has zero sugar or artificial sweeteners.

The brand has a variety of offerings: cold brew boxes (from $26.09), pods (from $11.67), beans (from $15.99), cartons (from $8.99), and single serves (from $47.99) in flavors like straight black, vanilla, caramel, mocha, hazelnut, and decaf black.

An Honest Review ‍

I got the Straight Black and Vanilla cold brew coffee boxes. The Straight Black is hands down my favorite. While I typically drink my coffee milky and sweet, this classic black goes down smooth. It starts off strong and finishes with a chocolatey undertone (and no bitter acidic aftertaste).

Vanilla is typically my least favorite flavor because most vanilla cold brews overpower the coffee with artificial sweetness. I was pleasantly surprised at how light this vanilla flavor is. Just enough to get a whiff of the smell plus a mild and natural vanilla sweetness.

Taste: 9/10

jot vs wandering bear

The caffeine hit me almost instantly. But not the kind that makes you run to the bathroom (IYKYK). You feel it in your heart and mind. It’s strong, yet smooth. The box reads that each 6 oz cup serves up 2 espresso shots. I’d say you maybe feel 1-1.5 shots if you’re a 2 cups a day caffeine-aholic like me. It’s a great sip on it all day, steady-state energy flow, kind of cold brew. I’m also amazed at how long it stays fresh. I went on vacation for a week and came back to coffee just as strong as Day 1.

Caffeine: 8.99/10 The best part of Wandering Bear is its convenience: I roll out of bed and go straight to the fridge for a quick morning pour. This cold brew delivers that coffee shop quality with the push of a button. I love how sleek the box fits into my fridge, too.

Convenience: 10/10 ‍

Frequently asked questions

Each box will stay fresh until the printed “enjoy by” date on the back of the box. Once the tap is open, your cold brew will stay fresh for 30 days, or until you finish it all.

You can store Wandering Bear cold brew at room temperature until you open it. We’ve worked out a flash pasteurization process for our cold brew that allows for safe storage at room temperature before opening without affecting its taste. Once you've opened a box, pop it in the fridge to keep it fresh -- we usually enjoy it cold over ice. Technically we’re supposed to say that the coffee will stay fresh for 30 days once you open the box… but we know it to both stay fresh longer than that and to get consumed faster than that.

Great question! Our coffee is extra strong but ready-to-drink out of the box, so you don't have to mess around with measuring out coffee and water before you've even had your morning brew. That said, it's your coffee, and it's endlessly customizable: drink it straight black, with milk and sugar, in a smoothie, in a cocktail, or add it to your favorite cold brew recipe.

All of our products are unsweetened and contain 0 grams of sugar. This allows you to customize your cup of cold brew as you would any other cup of coffee.

We use a lot of coffee in our cold brew, making it extra strong with 150mg of caffeine per 6 ounces. Don’t be afraid, it is still extra smooth.

Watch: Black Bear Fights Off Two Gators While Swimming Across a Florida River

By Dac Collins

Posted on Jun 6, 2024 12:58 PM EDT

3 minute read

A Florida kayaker had a front-row seat to a clash between two top predators on Tuesday. While paddling down the St. Johns River near Orlando, Tyler Futrell saw a black bear fighting off a pair of alligators in the middle of the river. Futrell was able to capture it all in a vid e o that has since gone viral on social media.

WHAT THE F*CKKKK!!! I've never ever seen that before! Black bear vs gators Didn't realize how much this would blow up, check out my band Varanger on Spotify if you're into metal 😂🍻 Posted by Tyler Futrell on  Tuesday, June 4, 2024

A resident of DeBary, Futrell told News-6 in Orlando that he was paddling by himself that morning on a stretch of the St. Johns near the mouth of the Wekiva River. He said he thought the black bear was a wild hog when he first pulled out his cell phone to record a video.

“Not really sure what this is,” Futrell says at the start of the video, which shows the black bear mid-crossing. “I think it’s a pig?”

The bear audibly huffs and pants as it swims across the wide river, and you can hear the excitement building in Futrell’s voice as he pans to the right, where an alligator is swimming right at the bruin.

“Oh man, alligator comin’ to say hi,” Futrell says. But instead of saying “hi” back, the black bear swats the alligator across the head a couple times. A big splash erupts on the water’s surface as the bear keeps swimming over it without missing a beat.

The one-two punch prompts an “Oh shit!” from Futrell, who stays roughly 100 yards away from the scene in his kayak. “Go for round two! Go for round two!” he jokes as the bear keeps chugging along.

Surprisingly, Futrell gets his wish. As the black bear nears the lily pads lining the far bank of the river, it runs into another alligator. The bear, which is now growling loudly, swats it repeatedly, wheeling on the reptile with its two front paws as it swims right over the alligator’s back.

At this point, roughly midway through the video, Futrell finally realizes it’s a black bear he’s filming and not a pig. He pans away from the bear for a second as it growls yet again, and then picks it up in the frame as another big splash breaks the surface. Although it’s hard to make out in the video, the bear then climbs up the far bank and exits the river through a dense jungle of palm trees and cypresses. The gator then smacks its tail on the water, seemingly out of frustration.

“Mr. Alligator’s pissed,” Futrell says. “I’ve never seen that before in my life.”

Although it’s rare to see the two critters duke it out, Florida is home to at least 4,000 black bears and more than 1.3 million alligators , according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. And while gators are obviously more at home in the water, bears are surprisingly good doggy paddlers in their own right. They can easily cross a river, and they’re occasionally spotted on Florida beaches or even swimming out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Police reminded locals that in the case that a bear comes near a home, residents should do their best to haze the bear away. Hazing can include yelling, blowing an air horn, activating a car alarm or making other loud noises. The public should never approach or corner a bear, the police wrote.

VIDEO: Bear spotted wandering Mecklenburg County

A bear has been wandering around areas of Charlotte and Huntersville.

A viewer sent video to Channel 9 from his backyard in the Wedgewood North neighborhood. The video was recorded around 3 a.m. Saturday.

ALSO READ: ‘Snouts and eyes’: Mama bear and cubs break into minivan in Avery County

The viewer said the bear was in his yard for a few hours.

“Some people find that stuff cool. I’m going to steer clear from bears,” said Becca McGhee, who also lives in Wedgewood North.

But McGhee, who often walks her chihuahua mix through the neighborhood, says looks can be deceiving.

“It’s a little scary … especially depending on the nature of your dog,” she said.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said they’ve gotten several calls over the past week from people who’ve spotted the bear. They said the bear is not an adult and has been wandering Mecklenburg County between Huntersville and Charlotte.

Officials want people to remember a few rules:

Never feed or approach bears

Secure food, garbage and recycling

Remove bird feeders when bears are active

Never leave pet food outdoors

Clean and store grills and smokers

Alert neighbors to bear activity.

NC Wildlife said if you see a bear, give it space and don’t approach it. Make sure they have a clear escape route; if they’re somewhere undesirable, get to a safe distance from them and make loud noises to get the bear to move on.

Once the bear leaves, get rid of anything that could attract them like unsecured garbage, bird seed, or pet food, and ask neighbors to do the same.
