1. Open the “ Awesome Screenshot & Screen Recorder ” extension link in the Chrome browser. Click on “Add to Chrome” and “Add Extension” to the chrome browser. (Extension might ask you to log in or sign up, you don’t need it to take a screenshot.)

2. We have to add the extension to the extension icon menu. Next to the address bar in chrome, click on the puzzle icon. After that click on the PIN icon next to the “Awesome Screenshot & Screen Recorder” extension.

In iOS 13 and later, iPhones and iPads can take scrolling screenshots that capture entire webpages in Safari. The best part is that it's almost exactly like taking a standard screenshot. But, instead of saving a screen-sized image, you save the full page as a scrollable PDF.

Here’s how to take scrolling screenshots in Safari.

How to Take a Full-Page Screenshot of a Webpage

To take a scrolling screenshot of a full webpage in Safari, follow these steps:

Open Safari and navigate to the webpage you want to screenshot.

Press the volume up button and the power button simultaneously to take a screenshot. If your iPhone has a Home button, press the Home button and the power button instead. (Learn how to take screenshots without a power button .)

Tap the Full Page option in the toggle near the top of the screen.

The view will change slightly to show the top portion of the scrolling screenshot and, next to it, a miniaturized overview of the entire screenshot down the side. You can scroll the main view of the screenshot by swiping up and down with two fingers.

Dragging the highlighted box on the miniaturized view to the right lets you quickly move the screenshot.

While you’re viewing the screenshot, crop it by tapping the Crop button (which looks like a square with overlapping lines) in the top toolbar. You can also edit it using the markup tools along the bottom of your iPhone’s screen.

When you’re finished cropping and marking up the screenshot, tap the Share button to save it to Files or send it to another app. Your iPhone will save the full webpage as a long, single-page PDF document.

If you want to delete the screenshot without saving it, tap Done and then tap Delete Screenshot .

Other apps can support the full-page screenshot feature, too. Apple’s Mail app is one example; however, it saves a paginated PDF rather than a scrollable single-page file.

On the Mac, how can I take a screen shot of a window that includes the parts that are off-screen and need scrolling to become visible?

The built-in Grab application can capture individual windows, but it only includes the parts that are on-screen at the moment.

Clarification : By "off-screen" I mean parts that are in the window, but are not visible, because the window has scrollbars. I do not mean parts of the window that are simply off-screen because of how the window is positioned (of course, I want those, too).

LittleSnapper will capture whole web pages, but not capture scrolled window contents in applications such as Finder.

Here is a website with 6 Screenshot Utilities (including LittleSnapper and some others that will capture whole pages).

There is a utility specifically for Finder listings called Print Window .

Update (2021)

The ability to do this is now built into Safari and is super easy.

File > Export as PDF... will get you what you want in most cases.

See this answer for more details on how to snapshot a whole page or a sub-section of the page.

There are also similar capabilities in Firefox & Chrome .

Snagit is the only software I've found for the mac that can do this for scrolling application windows as well as web pages.

There is a pretty good tutorial available, but basically when you are making a capture you can click on the vertical scrolling button and it will manually scroll the application window and piece together all the shots to make a comprehensive shot - very helpful!

While Little Snapper can take a picture of an entire web page, and Layers can capture every element on your screen (including stuff that’s hidden by other windows in front of it)—it’s unlikely you will find an application that can take a picture of the off-screen regions of a window.

The reason is that many applications don’t draw the off-screen portion until it’s needed. Often that part of the display isn’t even rendered until you scroll it into view. So a theoretical “whole window” snapper would capture a lot of blank or undefined areas.

If you just want to grab the output of a webpage as an image you can check out webkit2png or Paprazzi , a GUI similar in practice to webkit2png. Little Snapper does this as well.

In any browser, you can do File->Print. Then select PDF->Save as PDF...

Most web site don't have a special "Print" CSS, so the result in the PDF is reasonably equivalent to what you see.

To convert to another format, open the PDF with and Save as... you can select in a good list of formats (TIFF, PNG, GIF, JPEG...)

• The question was not only about browsers (though, in the comments the questioner indeed indicated that's all that's needed). Most normal windows don't have a print option, hence no Save as PDF either. For browsers, even when there's a CSS for media="print" then a PDF (at least one created in Safari or OmniWeb on a Mac) has the additional advantage that links remain clickable. A disadvantage --for some usage-- will be the pagination though. Saving an image from a PDF often only yields an image of one specific page, not of the whole document. –  Arjan Commented Sep 12, 2009 at 12:02

• 1 Despite the clickable links in Safari and OmniWeb, "Save as PDF" is more like "Save the printed copy to PDF". So, any missing background (and maybe the Flash as well) is probably caused by some browser setting for printing. By default, often background colours and images are not printed. For Firefox centric usage, Awesome Screenshot addon is pretty great and allows snapping entire web pages.

This drove me crazy for a while, too. But here's how you do it in little snapper:

• Open the web page you want to capture
• Click on the LittleSnapper icon in the toolbar at the top of your screen (looks like a camera lens)
• Select 'Open current website in LittleSnapper' (I've found that this works for Safari but not Chrome)
• In the LittleSnapper browser, click the camera icon to 'Snap the current webpage'

3 Ways to Take Scrolling Screenshots in Windows 11

Method 1: Using Microsoft Edge

There is no shortage of third-party extensions to capture scrolling screenshots. Scrolling screenshot is one such extension that does the job on Chromium browsers. It receives frequent updates and offers rich features to capture screenshots like a pro. Let’s check it in action.

Step 1: Launch Google Chrome and head to the Scrolling screenshot extension in the Chrome Web Store.

Step 2: Click Add to Chrome . Select Add Extension, and it should appear in the top-right corner.

Step 3: To take a scrolling screenshot on a webpage, click the extension at the top and click Selected Area.

There is no shortage of third-party screenshot apps on Windows. ShareX is a free and robust open-source offering. The app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Download and install it, and then follow these steps.

Step 1: Once ShareX runs in the background, click the up arrow icon in the Windows 11 taskbar.

Step 2: Right-click on ShareX and expand Capture . Select Scrolling capture .

Step 3: Check the capture options and make the required changes. Hit Start scrolling capture .

Step 4: ShareX will take a scrolling screenshot and open the Output menu, where you can make changes.

If you frequently take scrolling screenshots with ShareX, assign a hotkey to summon it with your keyboard. Here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: Right-click on ShareX in the Windows taskbar tray. Select Hotkey settings .

Step 2: Click Add and expand None . Select Screen capture and click Scrolling Capture .

Step 3: Select the hotkey on the right side and press your preferred key combination.

From now on, you can hit the keyboard shortcut to start scrolling capture on your PC. Snagit is another capable alternative to Snipping Tool that lets you take and annotate scrolling screenshots.
