NOFX announce epic Australian shows for final ever tour

A 2023 press shot of NOFX outside a red brick building

  • X (formerly Twitter)

One of the most iconic, influential and controversial punk bands to ever do it, NOFX  are calling it quits. And they've now announced details of their final Australian tour.

Returning after playing Good Things festival over summer, January 2024 is now your very last chance to see the group live before they hang up their instruments for good. And they're making sure to wind up with a grand finish.

Taking over venues on the east coast, NOFX will perform 40-song setlists that pull all the favourites and rarities from their classic catalogue.

Playing over two nights in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, you'll hear three full albums per performance.

1994's popular Punk In Drublic and mid-'00s releases Wolves In Wolves' Clothing  and The War On Errorism are showcased one night. The other is dedicated to late '90s records White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean; So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes , and The Decline .

It's exactly the kind of fan service you'd dream of when your favourite band plans their last hurrah.

"This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath. These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing," ringleader Fat Mike notes in a statement. "We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy…And then we are done. We are done done."

The band have confirmed supports for their upcoming tour, and it is going to be a pretty ridiculous night of punk rock frivolity for all concerned.

Frenzal Rhomb , Bodyjar , Clowns and The Bennies will be main support at shows around the nation (check the dates below to see who is playing where) while a stack of great locals like VOIID ,  Charlotte & The Harlots , and Something Something Explosion will open proceedings.

The band's second Sydney show will open with a Q&A moderated by Jay and Lindsay from Frenzal Rhomb. Called I Heard They Suck At Conversation!! , the session will see the band tell stories, answer questions and more. It'll be wild.

Emerging in late '80s California, NOFX have been at the forefront of punk in America, and around the globe, for over 40 years.

They've sold millions of records, played to thousands of fans worldwide, and remain a cornerstone for anyone who's decided to pick up a guitar and bust out some power chords for a fun, fast, good time.

"I'm excited to play our last shows. I'm so thankful for all the years people have supported us," Mike told Double J in November of retiring NOFX.

Why end now? Because Fat Mike says it brings out his destructive tendencies.

"I've been doing this since I was 16," he says. "I've known these guys since we were in high school. And it's just something I haven't enjoyed for several years. I have to get loaded.

"I do have a good time on stage. I don't fake it. But in order to not to fake it, I have to fucking drink a lot and do drugs."

Tickets are on sale now.

NOFX Announce 2024 North American Tour, Including Final Shows Ever

They will finish their 40-year career with three hometown Los Angeles shows

NOFX - Press

NOFX have announced the final shows of their farewell tour, which will see them sign off for good after a 40-year career.

The Los Angeles punk band have added 15 additional dates to their ‘40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs Per Day Tour’, and they will end the run with three hometown shows in October 2024.

Tickets for the new shows are on sale here .

Speaking about playing their final dates, frontman Fat Mike has said: “We’ve played over 2000 shows in 33 countries, in more than 300 cities and darn it…we’re a bit tired. One thing I know in my heart…this is going to be the most emotional, heartbreaking, greatest tour of our career. I’ve never been so excited and at the same time terrified. Mostly excited…”

Last September, Fat Mike told fans on Instagram that  the band would be breaking up in 2023, having formed in 1983. “It’s been an amazing run,” he wrote at the time.

In January, the band announced a string of US and UK dates , which took place between April and September.

“This is not a final tour like  Mötley Crüe  or  Black Sabbath ,” Fat Mike said in a statement at the time. “These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy…And then we are done. We are done done.”

Last December, NOFX guitarist  Eric Melvin suggested the band could still release new music after retiring from touring . “He still wants to record and release records as NOFX,” Melvin said, referring to Fat Mike. “So we’ll see how that works because they kind of go hand-in-hand, but they don’t have to.”

NOFX released their latest album  ‘Double Album’  in December 2022, while Fat Mike launched a new band called  Codefendants , which he described as a “genre fluid musical collective — a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco, and the Beatles”.

40 years. 40 cities. 40 songs per night. That’s how NOFX are marketing their upcoming Final tour, which you won’t want to miss when the legendary punks return to the east coast of Australia in January 2024.

“This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath ,” vocalist Fat Mike said in a statement. These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts...With all our joy...And then we are done. We are done done.”

Fat Mike told the punk music-loving world that NOFX would be hanging it up back in September 2022. The bass player, primary songwriter and frontman for the Californian punk band made the shocking announcement via the most low-key method imaginable: a  reply to an Instagram comment .

Responding to a fan who asked why NOFX didn’t tour Canada, Fat Mike replied, "Actually, We love Canada, it’s just that next year will be our last year. We will be announcing our final shows soon. It’s been an amazing run….” He added, “Los Angeles will be the last place we play. It’s where we started, it’s where we’ll end.”

In a November 2022 interview with Kill Your Stereo , Fat Mike told Dan Cribb, “ I'm so sick of being Fat Mike on stage. ”

He continued, “This last tour is going to be very special, and we're playing all the songs we've ever written, and it's so exciting for me - I can't wait. It's going to be really hard and emotional, but I haven't given it my all, and I can't wait to fucking play these albums we've never played before and connect with the crowd.”

40 years, 40 cities, 40 songs. NOFX had come to perform in Australia for the last time ever on their final tour and Everyday Metal was honored to attend and experience this monumental event.

To start the evening off was Something Something Explosion , a punk rock trio from Ocean Grove in Victoria. Although this band just finished their new album the set had crazy 90’s vibes and was totally getting my palette ready for the tasty nostalgic hit to come. Tracks included Gasoline , Burn it Down, Disappointment, and a very peppy cover of Bad Reputation .

Something-Something-Explosion-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-32

Bodyjar took the stage to time-warp us back to the carefree days of the 1990’s. Cameron leaned into the mic ‘Wanna hear some old fart shit?’. They entertained us all in a tight set that included Remote Controller, Get Out of My Head, One in a Million, Not the Same, and A Hazy Shade of Winter where they were joined on stage by their original bassist.

Bodyjar-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-16

The whole NOFX evening had real community vibes, starting with the bare bones community center styles of Festival Hall, the undressed stage adorned only with the rainbow flag and a dinky little postage stamp-sized band banner (classic NOFX), combined with the masses of fans that filled the venue from the crowd in the stands singing along with every track, the punks in the mosh pit thrashing around and the mob of followers and crew members that joined NOFX on stage standing in the sidelines, it was punk as fuck and we were all in it together.

NOFX-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-25

The Time Warp track from The Rocky Horror Picture Show played as the four members of NOFX took the stage with gusto, waving to the slew of lifelong fans throughout the hall. The first night of the Melbourne leg of the tour focused on the 2006 studio album Wolves in Wolves Clothing, the 1994 release Punk in Drublic, and The War On Errorism released in 2003. This was a hefty set list sandwiched in between a lot of goofy quips, sharp political statements, profanity, and partial nudity. It may have felt like we were in an oversized scout hall but this wasn’t an all-ages gig.

Fat Mike greeted us and exclaimed ‘Always was and always will be’ which was met with a cheer before they launched into what the band stated as the ‘best album’ Wolves in Wolves Clothing with the tracks 60% and Seeing Double at the Triple Rock . Everyone joined in for the Da nah nah nah’s of Leave it Alone from Punk in Drublic and when Franco Un-American from The War On Errorism followed, the crowd lit up with the lyrics ‘Or hang down low with the nice Australians’. The joyful set continued with high-energy tracks and hilarious banter as Fat Mike asked the fans ‘Are there any parents here tonight? If there are any parents here tonight, you’re bad parents’ and when giving us a sneak peek of his nipples Fat Mike described them as ‘bigger than any mountain in your country’.

NOFX-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-13

After many more sweet tracks including She’s Nubs, Fuck the Kids, Can’t Get the Stink Out and Linoleum (which was definitely a crowd favorite with a booming ‘That’s me inside your head’ rising up from the audience), the band had to take a ‘piss break’ where Fat Mike said ‘We’re old, we gotta pee. You can pee too but you don’t have to go to the bathroom’.

NOFX-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-2

After a short break of steel drums over the PA we were blessed with a second act filled with even more highlights like the track that in Mike’s brain is the best song, The Separation of Church and Skate , ‘That song gets me all enthusiastic!’ and the song that Mike was not supposed to sing because it would screw up his voice, Don’t Call Me White but instead said ‘ fuck the people who are coming tomorrow ’. In real community style we also experienced some special guest appearances from Goldfinger’s guitarist, and vocalist Karina Denike and during the track Kill All the White Man Briggs stepped out onto the stage with NOFX to sing the chorus while miming the throat-slitting gesture with his thumb.

NOFX-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-9

With that Melvin brought out the accordion for a slow jam medley, and Mike’s shirt came off and was thrown into the pit, there were hugs all around and in the same fashion that the set began, the track Science Fiction/Double Feature which closed out Rocky Horror played and closed out the night while everyone said their final goodbyes.

NOFX-Festival-Hall-Melbourne-26-January-2024-Everyday-Metal-23

For a band that never signed to a major label, NOFX had a huge 40-year career selling millions of records worldwide, and they will always remain one of the most successful independent bands of all time on this final tour, they definitely lived up to their promise of playing with all their hearts and all their joy and now they are done. In the words of Fat Mike ‘We are done done.’

Huge thanks to the Festival Hall Crew for having us and a special thansk to Dave at Daimond Creatvie for arranging media access.

Australian fans will have one last chance to catch and fire and fury of the iconic punk rock band NOFX live in action when they stop by in January.

On the first nights in each city, the bands will be focusing the setlist on tracks from the albums Wolves’ In Wolves Clothing, Punk in Drublic and The War On Errorism, while on the second night, they’ll be working their way through White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean, So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes and The Decline.

No setlist will be the same and each will be a whopping 40 songs long as the bang promises to go out with a bang.

“This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath. These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing,” said bassist and lead vocalist Fat Mike in a statement. “We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy…And then we are done. We are done done.”

After forming in the early ’80s, NOFX quickly became a foundational force in the American hardcore and skate punk scenes before gaining a cult global following. Their distinct combination of thrashing power chords, hectic stage performances and humorous yet political lyricism has influenced generations of musicians and won over fans across the world.

Their send-off is expected to be rowdy, loud and a little emotional – as it should be.

Tickets to see NOFX on their last Australian tour will go on sale on September 8 at 10am with a Live Nation presale opening a day earlier. Grab your tickets here .

Frenzal Rhomb, Bodyjar + More to Support NOFX on Their Final Australian Tour

By Emmy Mack

NOFX  have named the acts who’ll be warming up the stage for their final Australian tour in January 2024. A stack of local bands will be doing the honours at each stop on the pop-punk daddies’ farewell lap, including favourites Frenzal Rhomb , Bodyjar and Clowns .

NOFX have six shows locked in on the east coast early next year, playing two shows each in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

Clowns – ‘THANKS 4 NOTHING ‘

The Sydney show on Saturday, 20th January will see Bodyjar and Charlotte & The Harlots on support duties, while Frenzal Rhomb and I Heard They Suck At Conversation!! will do the honours the next night.

Brisbane is getting Frenzal Rhomb and Flangipanis on night one and The Bennies and VOIID on night two. Melbourne will cop Bodyjar and Something Something Explosion on Friday, 26th January and Clowns and Fever Shack on Saturday, 27th January.

As for the headliners themselves, NOFX have announced that the first shows in each city will feature tracks from their  Wolves In Wolves’ Clothing ,  Punk In Drublic , and  The War On Errorism LPs, while the second dates will feature songs from  White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean ,  So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes , and  The Decline . The group have also vowed that no setlist will be exactly the same.

The Aussie shows form part of NOFX’s wider farewell tour – billed as the ’40 Years 40 Cities 40 Songs Per Night’ tour – after the band  told fans in September last year  they’d be breaking up.

“This is not a final tour like Mötley Crüe or Black Sabbath,” NOFX’s Fat Mike said in a press statement. “These are the very last shows NOFX will ever be playing. We are gonna play with all our hearts…With all our joy… And then we are done. We are done done.”

In the course of their 40-year career, NOFX have become one of the most influential punk groups of all time. Formed in 1983, they found fame in the ’90s with albums like  White Trash, Two Heebs And A Bean  and  Punk In Drublic .

NOFX Announce 2024 North American Tour, Including Final Shows Ever

The post NOFX Announce 2024 North American Tour, Including Final Shows Ever appeared first on Consequence .

Punk veterans NOFX have announced the very final shows of their ongoing farewell tour. The band will end its 40-year run with three hometown Los Angeles shows in October 2024.

The tour, billed as “40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs Per Day,” has added 15 additional shows in North America for next year. The new dates include a couple of April shows in Fort Worth, Texas, and Salt Lake City, Utah; two late June gigs in Portland, Oregon; a pair of July concerts in Denver: a trio of Canadian shows in August; and a couple of Boston-area dates in late summer. The final three shows will take place October 4th-6th at Berth 46 in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Tickets go on sale Monday (November 20th) at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster  or PunkinDrublicFest.com . Fans can also check for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

“We’ve played over 2000 shows in 33 countries, in more than 300 cities and darn it…we’re a bit tired,” said frontman Fat Mike of the band’s final tour. “One thing I know in my heart…this is going to be the most emotional, heartbreaking, greatest tour of our career. I’ve never been so excited and at the same time terrified. Mostly excited…”

I loved the show, but I could do without all of the starter bands. NOFX only played for about an hour and a half compared to the 6 hours of starter bands.

Show was amazing. No complaints. Keep up the good work. Drink stands were food. Service was good. Security was good. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the good experience.

The concert was the day of trumps election, and the previous show mike sprained his ankle. Suffice to say Fat Mike was not having a good night, and it showed. The band was totally not into playing and you could tell they just wanted to get off stage. CLASSIC NOFX, awesome show 10/10 would get called a poser again.
