--> My wife and I booked a tour of street art in Tel Aviv's Florentine district. Little did we know our guide would be Evi from Be Tel Aviv Tours. He was amazing! So knowledgeable and informative! We learned so much about the incredible Tel Aviv street art scene. Evi went above and beyond, being helpful. We loved the tour so much we booked him for the next day for a tour of the fantastic Levinsky Market. Once again Evi outdid himself with his amazing knowledge about the market, Tel Aviv and Israel's history. You must book him when you're in TLV! David
--> I have visited Tel Aviv many times and seen all the “usual” sites. It was incredible to learn more about both the talented artists, their messages, their canvas (the city itself!) and the street art they are creating. This was all in a vibrant neighborhood (new to me) and opened my eyes to a wonderful new aspect of this wonderful city. Be Tel Aviv is a fantastic company run by the dedicated, knowledgeable and incredibly sincere Eviatar. Nelson
--> I want to thank Eviatar for arranging a fantastic Grifiti/ street art tour in Florentine. Thank you to our wonderful guide Yaela. Street art has a whole new meaning for me now. I will definitely do another Grifiti tour. Highly recomended. Looking forward to the Culinary food tasting tour in Tel Aviv. Marcelle

A colorful journey into the depths of the artist's soul, graffiti tours, let's find out what the story behind the murals is.

What is the story behind the murals scattered throughout the city? Sadness, protest, storm of emotions or the need to express yourself in the public space! What is the difference between graffiti and street art?!

Graffiti tours can be booked any day of the week including Saturday. The tours take place in Florentin, Kiryat Al-Malakha and the Nachalat Binyamin area.

Graffiti tour in the shadow of the war

The shock of October 7 also caught the street and graffiti artists, and the murals were slow to arrive. But then, the streets were filled with the names of the murdered, paintings of heroes, the story of the abductees and more.

First steps in graffiti

The colorful walls of the houses on the streets of the Florentine neighborhood and the area of Nachalat Binyamin Street tell the story of many artists.

But the graffiti can be found in almost every corner of the city and not only on the walls: on sidewalks, benches, electricity poles and more. You just have to travel and open your eyes.

Graffiti, from the word graphic – and it does begin with large, colorful letters that are not always easy to understand what is behind them, but usually when the word graffiti is used, they are talking about paintings, stickers, embroidery, knitting, plaster casts, beads and more.

How do you distinguish between graffiti that is a protest and an invited mural? It seems to me that it is almost impossible to get confused. Want to try?

Graffiti tour in Florentine

The Florentine neighborhood was for many years a fringe neighborhood of the city of Tel Aviv. For over 3 decades now, it has characterized itself as a transitional neighborhood for those who desire the big city. The small streets where the old tailors and carpenters are located, as well as the main streets and the residences in them have turned the walls into walls of numbers. On a tour of the neighborhood we can discover an endless variety of graffiti and street art that renews and changes non-stop.

Nachalat Binyamin Pedestrian Street and the streets adjacent to it are a great artistic celebration. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the famous artists’ market is held on the street, but every day and every hour you can be impressed by graffiti and street art galore. Tel Aviv has become a destination for street art and graffiti enthusiasts making a graffiti tour Tel Aviv a must on your trip to Israel. Tel Aviv is located on the Mediterranean coast of Israel. It is a vibrant and bustling city known for its lively culture, delicious food , and beautiful beaches . Additionally, the city’s streets are adorned with colorful and creative murals, graffiti tags, and street art installations. This makes it a true playground for artists and a feast for the eyes of visitors.

Graffiti Tour Tel Aviv

Many of the street art and graffiti in Tel Aviv can be found in the neighborhoods of Florentine and Jaffa. In these neighborhoods, the streets are lined with colorful murals and graffiti tags. These neighborhoods have become a hub for street art in the city, with many artists and galleries showcasing their work. Tel Aviv has also seen an increase in the number of street art festivals and events. One of those events is the Tel Aviv Street Art Festival. This brings together local and international artists to showcase their work and create new murals and installations.

Why should a graffiti tour Tel Aviv be the number one thing on your itinerary?

Street art and graffiti have a long history in Tel Aviv. There are a number of factors that have contributed to their popularity in the city. A graffiti tour Tel Aviv should be at the top of your itinerary on your trip to Israel for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the city has a thriving street art and graffiti scene that is truly unique and diverse. Visitors can see a wide range of styles and techniques, from traditional graffiti tags to large-scale murals and installations. Additionally, the street art in Tel Aviv often addresses political and social issues. This provides a unique perspective on the city and its culture.

Furthermore, taking a graffiti tour of Tel Aviv is a great way to explore the city and discover areas that may not be on the typical tourist itinerary. Many of the best street art and graffiti can be found in neighborhoods like Florentine and Jaffa. These neighborhoods offer a glimpse into the city’s bohemian and artistic side.

graffiti tour in tel aviv

History of graffiti in Tel Aviv

One of the main reasons for the prevalence of street art and graffiti in Tel Aviv is the city’s vibrant and diverse cultural scene. Tel Aviv has a long history as a cultural and artistic hub. This has attracted a wide range of artists and creatives from all over the world. The city’s streets and public spaces have become a canvas for these artists to express themselves and share their work with the community. Because of this, it is a beautiful thing to explore on a graffiti tour Tel Aviv.

Another important factor is the political and social context of Tel Aviv. The city has a long history of political and social activism. Street art and graffiti have often been used as a means of expressing political and social commentary. Many street artists in Tel Aviv use their work to address issues such as poverty, inequality, and discrimination, as well as to comment on broader political and social issues.

Additionally, Tel Aviv is a very young city. The city has a high population of students and young artists, and the street art scene reflects this youthful energy. Street art is an opportunity for young people to express themselves and to make their voices heard.

Graffiti murals in Tel Aviv

One of the most interesting aspects of a graffiti tour Tel Aviv is the chance to see how street art and graffiti is evolving and changing. In recent years, the city has seen a rise in legal graffiti walls. These are designated areas where street artists can create their work without fear of arrest. These walls not only give street artists a platform to showcase their talents, but they also serve as a canvas for the community to express themselves.

The city authorities have also played a role in promoting street art and graffiti by setting up legal graffiti walls. These walls can be explored and photographed on a graffiti tour of Tel Aviv.  This approach has helped to legitimize and support street art and graffiti in Tel Aviv. This makes it a more accepted and respected art form.

Overall, the combination of a vibrant cultural scene, a political and social context that encourages self-expression, and the city’s young population has created an environment where street art and graffiti thrive, making it a major part of the city’s identity and culture.

Where is the best graffiti in Tel Aviv?

One of the best places to start your graffiti tour Tel Aviv is in the neighborhood of Florentine. This bohemian neighborhood is famous for its street art and graffiti. It’s a popular spot for local and international street artists to showcase their work. Walking through the streets of Florentine, you’ll be amazed by the diverse and creative expressions on the walls of the buildings. From political and social commentary to abstract and surrealist imagery, the graffiti in Florentine has something for everyone.

Another interesting self-guided graffiti tour Tel Aviv is to head to the Jaffa Flea Market , also known as “Shuk Hapishpeshim”. The market is a maze of narrow alleys and hidden gems. As you wander through you’ll come across some truly incredible street art and graffiti. This is a great option for those who want to combine their street art exploration with a bit of shopping and people-watching.

Graffiti tour in the heart of Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv Graffiti tour

Discover the city's art scene non-stop

Tel Aviv, the vibrant heart of Israel, is a city that never ceases to surprise, a city full of colors, aromas and emotions. A city that manages to capture the essence of Israeliness in all its shades, something that is of course also expressed in its art scene. True, the city is best known for its sunny beaches, bustling nightlife and culinary scene, but hidden among its magical and vibrant streets are magnificent works of art just waiting to be discovered. And this is where the graffiti tour comes in, an immersive journey through the city's history, all through the eyes of its innovative street artists.

Guided graffiti tour in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv's art scene

In the heart of the Middle East, on the shores of the azure blue sea, lies the city of Tel Aviv - a city where art flows in its veins. Often referred to as the "Miami of the Middle East," this bustling urban enclave is more than just massed beaches and modern skyscrapers. It is about a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and most importantly, artistic expressions. So before we delve into the mesmerizing world of the graffiti tour, it's important to understand the artistic vibe of this vibrant city.

The city of Tel Aviv is a living canvas, an open art museum with streets decorated with layers of vibrant graffiti and street art that tells the story of its evolution, challenges and triumphs. The graffiti tour in the heart of the city invites you to explore this aspect of Tel Aviv, revealing to you the minds and imaginations of local artists, alongside the cultural landscape of contemporary Tel Aviv.

From the moment you start walking in Tel Aviv, you will be exposed to a delightful symphony of colors, sounds and textures. The historic city, whose roots begin at the beginning of the 20th century, experienced architectural brilliance with the rise of the Bauhaus buildings, which gave the city today its nickname "The White City". But it is not only about the buildings that adorn its streets, but about the small details on which stories of creativity and colors hum.

The city of Tel Aviv presents countless open 'galleries', where every corner and turn is free to its visitors a new and delightful canvas. From the vibrant murals of the hipster Florentine neighborhood to the sculpture installations in the central Bhima Square, art is not just decoration in the city of Tel Aviv, but a way of life.

And what makes Tel Aviv special is the delightful combination of old and new, and of course the cultural wealth in this diverse city. Jewish immigrants from Europe, Russia, North Africa and the Middle East all brought their distinct cultural flavor to the city, and this mosaic of influences is reflected in every area, from the atmosphere, through the cuisine, to the world of art.

With such a rich artistic background, it's no wonder that the streets of Tel Aviv have become a canvas for local and international artists. Graffiti and street art in the city are not only an act of 'rebellion' but an expression of the artistic narrative of the city, a dialogue between the past and the present, tradition alongside modernization.

The graffiti tour of Tel Aviv - a journey following eight amazing graffiti works

So if you were impressed by that artistic review of the White City, which is actually a very, very colorful city, it's time to tell about the graffiti tour, a tour where every stroke of a brush and every sprayed wall tell us the visitors about this city, the 'first Hebrew city', the vibrant and colorful heart of Israel Israel.

Throughout the tour you will explore the center of the city of Tel Aviv through a journey following eight amazing graffiti works, each of which was inspired by a story or a different character that played a significant role in the design of Tel Aviv. From the early pioneers who laid the foundations of the city to contemporary figures who break the boundaries of art and society, you will get insights into the fascinating and rich history of Tel Aviv.

The tour features works by some of Israel's leading street artists, each with their unique style and point of view. Throughout the tour you will learn about their artistic journey, their inspirations and the challenges they faced in the ever-evolving world of street art. The stories of these artists are at least as fascinating as the art they created, adding another layer of richness to the tour.

As befits a high-tech country led by the city of Tel Aviv, the tour combines sophisticated and exciting elements, ones that make the historical works of art come to life with spectacular visual effects. The tour leverages the power of augmented reality (AR), and through a special app that can be downloaded on your participating phones, you will get to see these works of art move, change and interact with you in ways that until recently were considered impossible. The city of Tel Aviv combines old and new, tradition and progress, and so does this fascinating tour.

And this combination between street art and technology creates a unique and unforgettable experience, ensuring that you will not be just passive spectators, but active participants, those who engage in art in a meaningful and dynamic way. This is a testimony to the innovative spirit of Tel Aviv and a glimpse into the future of art and stories.

And while you walk the streets of Tel Aviv, absorbing the vibrant art and engaging in augmented reality experiences, your guide, who speaks Hebrew and English, will provide insightful commentary. During the tour you will learn about the technical aspects of each work, the history behind them and the intentions of the artists. It is a comprehensive educational experience, both informative and entertaining. Of course, those who accompany this experience are not just tour guides, but passionate followers of street art, historians at heart, locals who know every corner of the city of Tel Aviv.

And what better way to end the tour than along Tel Aviv's beautiful coastline? The sound of the waves, the fresh sea breeze and the amazing views provide the perfect backdrop to process your art journey, the stories and the amazing experience you just had.

Graffiti tour in Tel Aviv

This is a 2-3 hours tour that is focusing in the southern part of Tel Aviv, the area of Florentine. it is suitable for any time of the day and can be also part of a full day tour in other parts of Tel Aviv or Jaffa.

The tour can also be combined with a Graffiti workshop in which you get an opportunity to test your painting skills and enjoy being the bad boy/girl that paints on the wall.

The Graffiti tour in Tel Aviv takes you to the heart of one of the coolest and hipster neighborhood in Tel Aviv. Every few days an new painting is discovered, every new painting is done by a different street artist. We will ask ourselves the quotation: can we consider those graffities as art?

We will learn that many of the graffities are interested in making a point, take side and demonstrate a certain opinion about public issues, what do we think about this issue?

This tour will definitely change the way you will look at graffiti painting in other cities and will teach you a great deal about it.

All You Need to Know about Tel Aviv Street Art

Tel Aviv street art scene is famous all over the world. It’s vibrant, colorful, creative, smart and – in most cases – illegal. It’s also one of the very solid reasons why you should visit Tel Aviv !

Even if you are not crazy about street art you will surely notice it all over the city and, most likely, will appreciate it.

As a big fan of street art, I try to find it everywhere I go. Fortunately, it wasn’t too difficult in Tel Aviv as the city is full of all sorts of creative expressions.

Tracking down graffiti and street art works was one of my favorite things to do in Tel Aviv !

I prepared this small guide to Tel Aviv street art for you so if you are wondering where to find the best works or if it’s worth to go for the Tel Aviv graffiti tour – read on!

Tel Aviv street art

Table of Contents

Tel Aviv street art scene

When searching for street art in Tel Aviv you will quickly realize that the city is full of diverse yet illegal works – tags, stencils, graffiti or even more creative forms like 3D prints or crotchets.

There are some big murals as well but they are in the minority. And that’s what makes Tel Aviv street art so special.

Young people took over the streets of Tel Aviv a while ago but the real boom of the street art scene happened some 10-15 years ago. Local artists, like everywhere else, wanted to make their world more colorful and cheerful but at the same time, they wanted to talk about more serious issues (and in the country like Israel there are many of them).

The local authorities are very much against the street art and each year they give over a pretty big sum of money to paint over the illegal works all over the city.

You will easily recognize which walls have been painted as only one shade of grey paint is used for it. But very quickly new works appear, it’s unstoppable.

There are of course nice commissioned works too, like the one on the synagogue in Florentine – the mural was ordered to prevent the wall from being constantly covered in the illegal works.

But those nice murals, no matter how pleasant they are, can’t really win over with the vibrant and ubiquitous presence of independent works.

During your researches, you will quickly start recognizing artists and works. Sometimes it’s a tiny detail, like the distinctive line, and sometimes it’s the pattern you will see on a few graffitis.

Local artists are proud of what they do and will give you hints to look for on the walls in Tel Aviv.

Where to find street art in Tel Aviv

The absolute must place to find the street art in Tel Aviv in the Florentine neighborhood.

This part of the city, now the hipster mecca, used to be a poor and neglected neighborhood, inhabited mostly be creative students who started to decorate the walls around them.

Today Florentine is buzzing with street art, you can find it on every corner and on every street. Some lanes are fully cowered in graffiti, it’s like stepping into the colorful madness.

But even if street art is present all over the area you will find most of the works at Florentine street, Cordovero street and backstreets near Abarbanel street.

Tel Aviv street art

Another center of street art in Tel Aviv is in Nahalat Binyamin, near Caramel Market. Here works seem to be prettier and very good.

Don’t be afraid to step into some yards and backstreets too as you will find even more graffiti and street art there.

The Caramel Market itself, and especially its backstreets, hide some nice street art gems as well.

Tel Aviv street art

I also found some nice works in Neve Tzedek, especially at Shabazi street. In the nearby park close to the see you can even see the famous grinning cat – Monsieur Chat. I’ve already seen him in Sarajevo , Lisbon or Pristina so finding him also in Tel Aviv was such a pleasant surprise.

Tel Aviv street art

Other hubs for street art in Tel Aviv include Jaffa port and the local beach, where even the lifeguards’ booth is turned into the work of art.

Apparently, the local bus station also serves as the place for local artists to showcase their works but I didn’t have time to check it – there are just too many things to do in Tel Aviv and never enough time!

Tel Aviv street art

And last but not least – if you are looking for accommodation in Tel Aviv, stay at Abraham Hostel .

Not only it’s one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed in, but the premises are also covered in some really nice street art works! That’s just one of the many advantages of the place.

Tel Aviv street art

Street art artists in Tel Aviv

There are so many talented local artists whose works you will see in Tel Aviv. Some of the names worth remembering are:

  • Michal Rubin
  • Murielle street art
  • Adida Fallen Angel
  • Solomon Souza
  • and many more!

Tel Aviv graffiti tour

If you are a fan of street art or just would like to learn more about graffiti and the local creative scene I wholeheartedly recommend joining the Tel Aviv graffiti tour via Abraham Tours .

I’ve been to a few similar tours all over the world and this was probably the best one. It didn’t focus on pointing you to nice big murals and telling you what you already see.

Instead, it explained all about the Tel Aviv street art scene, various genres of street art, the difference between graffiti and street art (it turned out I see it totally different) and forced me and other participants to look beyond what we saw, dig deeper.

The tour lasted around 2 hours but since it was all so interesting, the time flew by so quickly! I attended the tour in the Florentine but also the one covering Nahalat Binyamin is available.

On the next day, I returned to Florentine to see all the works again as I liked most of them so much, but also to look for other amazing examples of street art in Tel Aviv.
