Better than expected

I was a little skeptical of Travel Republic as I wouldn't have my usual rep experience but I have to say the whole trip was seamless. I got the best price, all details were confirmed and correct. I had no issues with all bookings for flights, transfers and hotel booking. Really found the whole experience to offer great value and service.

We have been on three holidays all…

We have been on three holidays all booked through Travel Republic with the family and we have had a really good experience and well organised with the transfers, the hotels and the flights. We will be booking through them next year when we take our next holiday.

Travel Republic Customer Service

Had an issue with my booking details. Travel Republic reached out to the agent to rectify the issue. Agent didn’t respond but Travel Republic escalated my concern and sorted it out for me before we left the UK. I was delighted with how Travel Republic dealt with my concern and we had a great holiday. There were 14 of us staying in different apartments in the same complex. Those of us who booked through Travel Republic definitely had superior apartments than those who booked through other well known companies. Will definitely book through Travel Republic again.

Great Company UK based.

The most important thing is being able to speak to an english speaking UK person and having an 0208 number for contact. The person i spoke to sorted out my issue within minutes.

Smooth Transaction

Via Trivago- I was booking from Cuba online and had to call instead as my card wasn’t going through. Smooth experience, free upgrade to ocean view given and the reservation was fine at the hotel even though I had two non-Brits with me.

Simple and straightforward process. All necessary information was shared with us in good time and via email. We called the Travel Republic centre on one occasion before departure and again received the information that we required. Best priced and easy transaction for a last minute break. Only bit that was unclear was how to find my transfer desk, but this wasn’t any fault of TR, and more so the provider who didn’t seem to have any corporate ID other than that of their staff uniform but they were easy to miss.

Tremendous help/assistance

I have been using Travel Republic for 9 years and they have never disappointed us even during COVID and travel restrictions. We were allowed to rebook. We had an issue recently with my 12 year old son’s Emirates airline ticket as Emirates regard a 12 year old as an adult. I am grateful that Habib did a great job in resolving this issue with no extra cost.

We made a booking to travel to Cyprus…

We made a booking to travel to Cyprus 9th August. We were offered three options for a room at the Athena Beach Hotel. We paid for the highest thinking that this would be a family room and asked for them to confirm as it was not clear on the site. Nobody responded. We decided to contact the hotel directly who confirmed all the types of room we wanted were identical (so why pay more!). We made many calls without any clarification. I asked for a refund of the extra we paid and they refused, also refused to give anything above what those who paid less for the same. So now we end up paying more for the same as our neighbours. We feel scammed, so beware of misleading website. Don’t believe everything you read and don’t expect good communication.

Excellent hotel

Holiday started badly because of Tui cancelled flight, missed a whole day of the break. Sadly Tui were awful, poor communication with inexperienced ground staff, lots of delays from Manchester. Transfers to and from the airport excellent takes approximately ten minutes into Cavtat. Excellent hotel, would highly recommend. No issues at all, friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Gorgeous resort with excellent transport links for travelling around Croatia. Will definitely return in the future

Excellent experience…

Excellent experience from the moment we booked our holiday to when we returned. We were fully updated of flight time changes, and the seats picked for us on the flight there and back were very comfortable.

Unfortunately we have not had a similar experience with customer service as those noting below. Customer service on a time sensitive matter is unacceptably slow. Support requests take 2 days for a response and in our experience did not address the issue in its entirety and therefore required follow up. trying to call customer service involved a 50 minute wait and again for the response to be generic and unhelpful and 'waiting to hear from the hotel'. At no point did it feel like our time sensitive issue was a priority which left us feeling stressed before flying out for our holiday. I has never experience such a long drawn out process of cancelling and changing hotel arrangements with the likes of booking.com so my advice would be go there and save the stress.

Bereavement - ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES OF A COMPANY

I lost my partner very suddenly in May and contacted Travel Republic to cancel my holiday and was advised that due to the nature of what had happened that I would receive my refund. It was requested that I send in a copy of my partners death certificate which in total I needed to email in on 3 occasions. Bizarrely, I was then asked to provide proof of mine and my partners relationship as we weren’t married and also to provide the same proof for our children even though it clearly stipulated on the death certificate my relationship with her. I notified them of this on multiple occasions but then gave up and sent in copies of both our children’s birth certificates. I called to request a management callback which I was advised I would get within 24 hours. This came in the form of an email from someone called Paul who emailed me from a Non reply email address. I contacted emirates who advised me that Travel Republic hadn’t paid them any money to which Travel Republic denied. I have written proof of this from Emirates. It is now 3 months since I lost my partner and my children lost their mother and not at any point have Travel Republic reached out to update me on what’s going on. Quite the contrary actually with me constantly emailing them for updates which they just duly ignore. Moving forward I will absolutely not be using Travel Republic for anything. They have shown absolutely zero empathy with my situation and have only repeatedly ignored me. If zero was an option that’s what they would be getting.

travel republik good price but I don't…

travel republik good price, but I don't understand if I pay for 9 nights and we give the evening and I will be there in the morning at 8:00 and they count it, because that way we give one day of vacation instead of 9 days, they give you 8 days, that's right, when it comes in the morning and I check in on the day of arrival like every company has if we fly overnight and arrive the next day we have a check in day of 9 days and not the day we give. I don't understand why they do it like that 🤦‍♂️ they should fix it Travel republic on their website you pay for 9 days and you only have 8 days, if you pay for 9 nights then it should be and not 8 days of the hotel. if you choose an evening flight and stay at the hotel the next day.

I really love this app, so easy to use and navigate through but previous holidays have always been saved to the existing bookings to keep track but now they are not, my current booking doesn’t show up now and I keep having to log into the website if I want to pay to the holiday, the app is supposed to be for convenience, please get this sorted.

Used TR to travel in a group of 5 to Magaluf in September. Unbeatable prices compared to Jet2, Lastminute and Loveholidays. Customer service are super friendly, helpful and professional, apart from the odd handler who obviously is there to collect a pay check. Easy to book, easy to arrange payment schedules/methods. Bad points: app interface could be smoother, less confusing cost breakdown i.e; flights = , insurance = … to this date I don’t know the breakdown and one of our flights were cancelled so I don’t even know if we were overcharged for the new flights. That said, I’ve given a 5* review on the basis that TR has access to resorts and hotels that are otherwise fully booked directly and the amazing prices with comprehensive deals. The other group we flew with they paid £520pp for their stay, we paid £290pp with the emission of breakfast and the pool parties.

Cancelled booking??

Although I understand things are difficult in the current situation I feel very frustrated that I cannot talk to anyone directly. TR cancelled a holiday I had for beg. August and then received another email several days later to say they’d be taking the payment balance of my holiday out of my bank. After trying to phone several times during updated times for the office to be open and emailing several times with no acknowledgement or reply I feel I need to let people know. So now I do t know whether I’m supposed to go on the holiday as it still shows in my bookings, if the payment will be taken out of my bank even though they’ve said it’s cancelled or that they have received the option of ‘refund’ as they offered on original cancellation. I wouldn’t book with this company right now, seems very dodgy!!!

Can i amend my booking.

Yes, you can amend your booking with Travel Republic. Whether it’s needing to change the dates, names or add someone to the booking they can assist you. Amendments may be subject to a fee depending on the change being made.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes, Travel Republic accept that sometimes you’ll need to cancel your booking. You have two ways to cancel bookings. Are cancellations free?

It depends on your booking. Flexible accommodation-only bookings can be cancelled for free online during your free cancellation period. Other bookings may be subject to a cancellation fee or 10% of the value of the booking, whichever is higher.

When will I receive my boarding pass?

Travel Republic don’t provide or send your boarding pass. You will receive your boarding pass when you check-in online on your chosen airline's website or app. If you are unable to check-in online for any reason you’ll receive your boarding pass when you check-in at the airport.

What if the airline cancels my flight?

If the airline cancels your flight and it’s part of a package holiday, Travel republic will get in touch to discuss your options and possible solutions. If it’s part of a flight-only booking then you’ll receive a full refund or help booking an alternative flight. You will be required to pay any additional costs with alternative flights, however.

W.H.O. Declares Global Emergency Over New Mpox Outbreak

The epidemic is concentrated in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but the virus has now appeared in a dozen other African countries.

The rapid spread of mpox, formerly called monkeypox, in African countries constitutes a global health emergency, the World Health Organization declared on Wednesday.

This is the second time in three years that the W.H.O. has designated an mpox epidemic as a global emergency. It previously did so in July 2022. That outbreak went on to affect nearly 100,000 people , primarily gay and bisexual men, in 116 countries, and killed about 200 people.

The threat this time is deadlier. Since the beginning of this year, the Democratic Republic of Congo alone has reported 15,600 mpox cases and 537 deaths. Those most at risk include women and children under 15.

“The detection and rapid spread of a new clade of mpox in eastern D.R.C., its detection in neighboring countries that had not previously reported mpox, and the potential for further spread within Africa and beyond is very worrying,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the W.H.O.’s director general.

The outbreak has spread through 13 countries in Africa, including a few that had never reported mpox cases before. On Tuesday, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared a “public health emergency of continental security,” the first time the organization has taken that step since the African Union granted it the power to do so last year.

“It’s in the interests of the countries, of the continent and of the world to get our arms around this and stop transmission as soon as we can,” said Dr. Nicole Lurie, the executive director for preparedness and response at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, a nonprofit that finances vaccine development.

Facing the threat of global spread, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged clinicians and the public in the United States to be alert for the virus.

The W.H.O.’s designation of a “public health emergency of international concern” is intended to prompt member countries to begin preparing for the virus’s appearance and to share vaccines, treatments and other key resources with poorer nations.

“We need concerted international action to stem this recent, novel outbreak,” said Gregg Gonsalves, an epidemiologist at Yale University who served on the W.H.O.’s mpox committee in 2022.

The outbreak that year stayed mostly within tight sexual networks, among gay and bisexual men. A combination of behavioral changes and vaccination tamped down the spread.

In the United States, for example, the toll dropped to about 1,700 cases last year from more than 30,000 in 2022.

The version of mpox that has been circulating in Congo has always been more virulent, and currently has a death rate of about 3 percent, compared with 0.2 percent in the 2022 outbreak. The infection can produce fever, respiratory symptoms, muscle aches and swollen lymph nodes, as well as a rash on the hands, feet, chest, mouth or genitals.

Until recently, it spread mainly through consumption of contaminated meat or close contact with infected animals and people. Most of the deaths have been in children, who in this region of Africa are already beset by malnutrition and infectious diseases like cholera, measles and polio.

Should the outbreak spread globally, children in developed countries are likely to be less vulnerable to severe illness, experts have said.

Last year, for the first time, scientists discovered sexual transmission of this version of mpox, with cases split about equally among young men and women. According to genetic analyses , sometime around September, the virus gained mutations that enabled it to spread more readily among people. It has done so partly through heterosexual prostitution .

This viral type has not surfaced outside Africa. Over all, there have been more than 17,500 presumed and confirmed mpox cases in 13 countries, according to Africa C.D.C . Most of the cases and deaths have occurred in Congo.

Given the rapid spread, the declaration of a global health emergency was justified, said Anne Rimoin, an epidemiologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, who served on the 2022 mpox panel.

“I think we learned a great deal about the speed with which this virus can spread,” she said.

Amid rising numbers, Congo has approved two mpox vaccines , a Japanese product called LC16 and Jynneos, the vaccine made by Bavarian Nordic that was used in 2022 in the United States and Europe. But Congo has yet to institute an immunization plan.

On Aug. 9, the W.H.O. invited vaccine manufacturers to apply for an emergency use listing , a prerequisite for international groups such as Gavi, a global vaccine alliance, to purchase and distribute the shots in low-income nations.

Bavarian Nordic has donated 15,000 doses of Jynneos to be distributed in African countries. But that is a tiny fraction of the 10 million doses needed to control the outbreak, according to Africa C.D.C.

“The challenge is that these vaccines are not sufficient,” even if countries try to protect only the people at highest risk, said Dr. Dimie Ogoina, a Nigerian scientist and chair of the W.H.O.’s mpox emergency committee.

LC16 was used in Japanese children in the 1970s. Clinical trials funded by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations are now evaluating whether Jynneos can protect children and people who have already been exposed to the virus , Dr. Lurie said.

The organization is also supporting the development of a new mRNA vaccine made by BioNTech that would protect against mpox and related viruses, such as smallpox.

“This outbreak has been smoldering for quite a long time, and we continually have missed opportunities to shut it down,” Dr. Lurie said. “I’m really glad that everybody is now paying attention and focusing their efforts on this.”
