2022-2023 PGA Tour schedule: Tournaments, dates, purses and venues
The 2022-2023 PGA Tour schedule has been announced, with a significant overhaul to the 48-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.
The most significant changes to the schedule are related to the creation of elevated events and who qualifies for the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Elevated events
The PGA Tour has created a series of elevated events, all of which will have purses of at least $20 million: the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, the Masters, the PGA Championship, the Memorial Tournament, the US Open, the Open Championship and the three FedEx Cup playoff events.
FedEx Cup playoff changes
The FedEx Cup playoffs are changing for 2022-2023 as well. The series will remain at three events, but only the top 70 players in the standings at the end of the regular season will qualify, with cuts to 50, then to 30 players after each of the FedEx Cup events.
The BMW Championship will be played this year at Olympia Fields Country Club near Chicago.
One World Golf Championships event left
Since 2009, there have been four World Golf Championships events on the schedule. However, there is now just one on the 2022-2023 schedule: the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Texas from March 23-27.

PGA Tour Schedule 2023: Events, dates and prize money
PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced huge changes to the 2023 schedule before last week's Tour Championship in reaction to the emergence of LIV Golf.
The PGA Tour schedule for 2023 was fairly straightforward before commissioner Jay Monahan announced a series of bombshells ahead of last week's Tour Championship.
The dates of each event remained the same, but now, the top 20 players from the Player Impact Program will be required to play in 20 events next year.
Securing the future of the Tour's best players was the main aim of these new innovations which were discussed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and a number of other players two weeks ago in a special meeting.
This will include 12 Elevated Events, four major championships, The Players Championship and three other tournaments of the players' choice. Four Elevated Events are still yet to be decided.
The Sentry Tournament of Champions, the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial Tournament, the WGC Match Play and the three FedExCup Playoffs events constitute the first eight confirmed Elevated Events.
The four new Elevated Events will have prize purses of $20 million. The Tour Championship and FedEx Cup bonus pool in 2023 will be $75 million.
70 players will start the first FedEx Cup Playoff event at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. 50 will make it to the BMW Championship and as usual, 30 will play in the finale.
The PIP has also been expanded to a $100 million prize pool for the top 20 players who excel in Internet Searches, General Awareness, Golf Fan Awareness, Media Mentions and Broadcast Exposure.
These changes to the schedule which begin next month have been brought forward in a rapid fashion due to the development of the LIV Golf Tour .
In 2023, there will be 44 events and here is the full PGA Tour 2023 schedule below:
FedEx Cup Playoffs:
- August 7-13: FedEx St. Jude Championship, TPC Southwind, Tennessee
- August 14-20: BMW Championship, Olympia Fields Country Club, Illinois
- August 21-27: Tour Championship, East Lake Golf Club, Georgia

The PGA Tour is ready to start talking about 2023, finalizing its full schedule of 47 events for the 2022-23 season and announcing changes to the FedEx Cup and massive purse increases to go along with them.
The changes really begin in Hawaii, the unofficial start to the season, when the purse of the Sentry Tournament of Champions rises to $15 million. Not impressed? That’s $15 million spread out over a limited field of, historically, 32-34 players. That mega-millions payout structure continues during the West Coast swing. The Tour will dish out $101.5 million in prize money during a stretch of six weeks that begins with the Genesis Invitational in mid-February and runs through the WGC-Match Play in late March. It’ll include a whopping prize of $25 million at the Players Championship.
How? The Tour reallocated funds in order to elevate specific events like the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the WGCs. In other words, Scottie Scheffler ‘s pockets would be even deeper under the new structure.
Other notable schedule moves were outlined neatly by my colleague Dylan Dethier on Twitter:
Other scheduling notes: -No WGC-China, so Bermuda has full points and a Masters spot -CJ Cup is now at Congaree, named THE CJ CUP in South Carolina -Farmers finishes on Saturday again -Rocket Mortgage goes from late July to late June -Cosanctioned Genesis Scottish Open is back — Dylan Dethier (@dylan_dethier) August 1, 2022
The tournament directors and TV broadcasters both saw value in the Saturday night finish for the January event. For years, the Farmers’ final round competed for attention with the NFL’s championship weekend, and finally the event bowed out of that fight last year. That means we’ve got Wednesday to Saturday golf at Torrey Pines again in 2023.
We will also see Congaree host an event next season. The South Carolina course hosted the Palmetto Championship in 2021 after the RBC Canadian Open was canceled due to the pandemic. Congaree will host the 2022 CJ Cup in mid-October, just a few weeks into the new season.
One week after that, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship will see its winner take home Tour-status, $1.17 million, and an invite to Augusta National. The Tour’s decision to ditch the WGC-HSBC Champions, which will not be contested next season, means the BBC is leveling up. Its winner will earn an invite to play in the 2023 Masters.
Lastly, the 2023 FedEx Cup is set for an overhaul. The Tour playoffs will follow the same three-tournament structure as this season, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship preceding the BMW Championship, which precedes the Tour Championship. However, the fields will look very different. Only 70 players will qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, a far cry from the 125 that will take part this year. And from those 70, 50 will advance to the BMW Championship, and then 30 to the Tour Championship. The 50 who make it to Olympia Fields for the BMW are expected to be featured in a high-money series of international events in the fall of 2023.
More details on those events will be shared at a later time, but this will notably be the final Tour season (barring any unforeseen changes) with a wraparound schedule beginning in September. Instead, the 2023-24 schedule will officially begin in January and run through August. So enjoy your final wraparound schedule, folks! It may be gone for good.

2023 Tour Championship TV schedule, coverage, live stream, watch online, channel, FedEx Playoffs streaming
The pga tour's 2023 champion will be crowned this week in atlanta.
A season that began last September with more than 150 hopeful PGA Tour members wraps this week at the 2023 Tour Championship with the game's 30 best players still eligible to win the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the $18 million share that comes with finishing atop Sunday's leaderboard. Those golfers continue to trek across East Lake Golf Club for the postseason finale, and it's a field filled with stars, up-and-comers and veterans all looking for one last shot at glory.
That star-studded field was led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who captured 14 top-five finishes across 23 starts this season -- including wins at the WM Phoenix Open and The Players Championship. Scheffler entered the Tour Championship for the second straight year in pole position at 10 under but fell behind by a single stroke after 18 holes and even further back as the tournament has continued onward.
Scheffler now sits far behind Viktor Hovland, who took a commanding 54-hole lead and is battling at the top with Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Jon Rahm, among others. Morikawa set the stage for low scoring with a 61 on Thursday and broke Tiger Woods' 36-hole record with a 125 through the first two rounds. Still, Hovland's consistent play -- continuing his hot streak from last week's BMW Championship -- has made him a commanding favorite entering the final round.
Enough talking about it. Here's how you can watch as much of the Tour Championship as possible this week. Be sure to stick with CBS Sports for live Tour Championship coverage all day Sunday.

PGA Tour Schedule And Results 2023
The PGA Tour schedule for the 2022/23 season is confirmed, and it includes some huge purse increases

The 2022/23 PGA Tour schedule is made up of 47 tournaments comprising 44 regular season events and culminating in the three FedEx Cup Playoffs.
The most significant changes from last year concern the purses on offer. With LIV Golf expanding its schedule for 2023, the PGA Tour has responded with some huge prize money increases in an attempt to combat the threat.
The purse for the Sentry Tournament of Champions leapt from $8.2m to $15m, while the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, Memorial Tournament and WGC-Match Play are to feature total prize pots of $20m - up from $12m.
At March's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass , the game's biggest names will compete for a record $25m, while the FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship have had their purses increased from $15m to $20m.
Team USA's Ryder Cup standings will also be finalised at the conclusion of the second BMW Championship, while European hopefuls will have until September 3 to qualify automatically for Luke Donald's side.
The WGC-Match Play at Austin Country Club is the only World Golf Championship on the schedule following the announcement of the PGA Tour's 13 "designated events" aimed at getting the best players together more often. The co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open in July also returns as part of the DP and PGA Tour's ongoing strategic alliance.
Speaking on the changes, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said: "We’ve heard from our fans and the overwhelming sentiment was that they wanted more consequences for both the FedEx Cup Regular Season and the Playoffs, and to further strengthen events that traditionally feature top players competing head-to-head.

"We feel strongly we’ve accomplished all of these objectives and more, creating a cadence of compelling drama for every tournament throughout the season. Each week has its own identity and purpose, and we’re set up for an exciting 2022-23 campaign as we transition into a calendar season in 2024 that will include a number of new and innovative competitive aspects in the fall."

Rickie fowler enters sanderson farms championship, his first start since the birth of daughter nellie, share this article.
Rickie Fowler is ready to go back to work.
The 35-year-old Fowler, who along with wife Allison welcomed their second child, daughter Nellie, in August, signed up to play at next week’s Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, at The Country Club of Jackson. It marks the first time that Fowler has ever played in the event that hands out a trophy in the likeness of a rooster.
Fowler, who has dropped to No. 68 in the world, last played in a PGA Tour event at the British Open in July. He skipped the 3M Open and the Wyndham Championship while on baby watch, which meant he failed to finish in the top 70 and missed out on the FedEx Cup Playoffs. That extended his unofficial paternity leave into September. Fowler could’ve returned to action a few weeks ago at the Procore Championship, the first event of the FedEx Cup Fall schedule, but opted not to.
After a resurgent season in 2023, which included his sixth career Tour title, Fowler struggled this season, failing to record a single top-10 finish in 20 starts. He is exempt next season thanks to his victory at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic but at No. 110 in the FedEx Cup standings, he will have work to do in the FedEx Cup Fall to try to finish between Nos. 51 and 60 in the point standings to qualify for the signature events. Otherwise, he will have to rely on sponsor’s exemptions into the events with elevated purses, limited fields and several of which don’t have a cut.
Other notables in the event include Eric Cole and Nick Dunlap, the two players in the field who finished in the top 50 in the regular season point standings and already are exempt into the signature events next season. Past major winners in the field include Lucas Glover, Zach Johnson and Gary Woodland. Mackenzie Hughes (2022), a member of the International Team this week in the Presidents Cup, and Peter Malnati (2015), who won the Valspar Championship earlier this season, are among the Sanderson Farms past champions in the field.
The Sanderson Farms Championship gets underway on Oct. 3.

World Sand Greens: Bruyeres back where it all began
Golf has a way of drawing you in from your very first swing. For Will Bruyeres, competing in this weekend’s World Sand Greens Championship at Binalong Golf Club, It began with nine holes of family bonding on a sand greens track three hours west of Toowoomba.
By David Tease
“My very first game of golf was on sand greens at Ingleston Golf Club, just outside Meandarra,” Bruyeres recalled with a smile. “My grandparents had a cattle property out there. My dad and grandpa were both playing. It was a family experience, and I had a lot of fun.”
Bruyeres, who said he ‘ shot 74 or 75 ’ for nine holes, had no idea how special the experience was at the time.
“Looking back, it was the perfect initiation into the game,” he added. “I didn’t realise how special the experience was.”
That first day of fun on the sand started a golfing journey for Bruyeres, from junior golf around Logan City in Queensland to a college degree in Iowa, it reached a crescendo with a well-deserved victory on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia last month in Port Moresby.
Following his PNG victory, Bruyeres took a well-earned break for a friend’s wedding in the United States. He returned to action last week at the NSW Open Regional Qualifying events at Catalina Club and Queanbeyan. He is primed for this weekend’s world sand greens championship and relishes the bespoke challenge of the deceptively small putting surfaces at Binalong.
“They look great,” Bruyeres added.
“It’s going to be a mix between some guys going stupid low and some struggling with adjusting to the sand greens.”
“It’s going to be a test to work it out. Where do you land your second shots?”
“If you figure it out, you could go quite low.”
Sand Greens: A Unique Challenge
For those unfamiliar with sand greens, they offer a completely different experience from the typical lush, grass-covered putting surfaces.
‘Smoothing’ your line will be a first for more than a few competitors, as will the challenge of working out how exactly you stop your ball on some of the putting surfaces.
“I know playing sand greens can be tricky,” Bruyeres added. “The nuances can turn a straightforward game into a mental battle.”
“I expect you’ll see a mix of scores. Some players will figure it out and go extremely low, but others will struggle to adapt.”
“The key is managing your approach shots carefully.
“Land your second shot too hard, and the ball will bounce straight over the back and roll away.
“A nine-iron or a smooth run-on shot from inside 100 yards seems to work best.
“Work it out, and you can go quite low, quite quick. If you don’t, it will just be a bit of a head battle.
“I’m just going to try and smooth it around and hope the ball goes in the hole,” Bruyeres smiled.

Host Venue : Binalong Golf Club Dates : 28 – 29 September, 2024 Prize Fund : AU$140,000 TV Times: Sunday 29 September 2024 from 12.00 pm on 7Plus
Binalong Golf Club has a long and rich history. Founded in 1857, the club’s original nine-hole layout was carved through the middle of a now-defunct horse racing track.
At 500 metres above sea level, the 18-hole, par-72 course is considered one of the best examples of a sand greens layout in regional New South Wales.
37km northwest of Yass, about one hour from Canberra and three hours from Sydney, Binalong is a hub for sporting activities and an integral part of the surrounding community.
The Men’s World Sand Greens Championship is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Tony Finau delivers one of best parenting quotes you'll ever hear PGA Tour pro say
Tony Finau is competing in this week’s Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal, but he won’t be in the field next month for the first PGA Tour event in his native Utah in six decades.
Dad duties take priority.
Instead of teeing it up in the Oct. 10-13 Black Desert Championship, Finau will be at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch West course in Texas to cheer on his 12-year-old son, Jraice, who will compete for Utah in the U-13 PGA Junior League Championship on those same dates.
Tony, who usually gives his oldest nine shots a side when they play matches, doubles as Jraice’s swing coach, though he mentioned Wednesday that he’d soon have to find Jraice as new instructor now that he’s gotten more serious about the game. Tony won’t stop, however, trying to instill the importance of hard work and preparation in Jraice, who Tony admits doesn’t have the practice bug yet. Part of that is due, Tony says, to Jraice not experiencing the childhood, at least financially, that Tony and his siblings had.
The way Tony explained his parenting approach with Jraice's golf is powerful:
“That's the part that I struggle with because my kids have a different life than I had. I feel like I had to work hard and do those things because I was in a different situation. I felt the pressure as a kid. My parents giving up everything they had for me to perform. My kids aren't – they don't feel that pressure. So, teaching grit, I don't know if there's such a thing, but I try to apply enough pressure as a parent to keep him accountable for what he wants to accomplish. He told me, ‘Dad, I want to be better than you. I want to be a PGA Tour player. I want to be the best player in the world.’ So, I try to hold him accountable at the end of the day as a parent, as a father. That's what my dad did for me, held me accountable to try to accomplish great things. I told him that's what I wanted to do.
“My son has impressed on me that's what he wants as well. So, I have to try to be tough on him to hold him accountable to teach him that hard work and grit, it's not easy, though. We're working at the course, and we can go eat at a steakhouse later and he sees the glamorous life that we live, but he didn't see what I went through 25 years ago, he didn't see the work.
"That's the part I struggle with — my kids have a lot different life than I had." Thoughtful stuff from Tony Finau on his greatest challenge as a dad: how to teach his kids grit. pic.twitter.com/6SI6oYacb6 — Dylan Dethier (@dylan_dethier) September 25, 2024
“That's the thing about social media, the hard part about social media, with my kids, they're seeing finished products. They get entertainment at their fingertips. They're seeing the finished products of Steph Curry and LeBron James. It's so hard for me to tell them and have my son understand, like, the hours and thousands and millions of hours that they put in to get to where they are is really what it's all about, that journey there. Everybody knows who they are now.
“But that's the tough part, for me, trying to teach my son to not even follow in my footsteps. I want him to be the greatest. I want him to be better than I am, but that grit has to come. I think it's more an innate thing, but I can try and put him in the environment – that's all I'm trying to do – in the mindset to be great.”

What do the yellow ribbons mean at Memorial Tournament final round?
On the final day of the Memorial Tournament, many golfers and tournament attendees will wear yellow and don yellow ribbons to raise money for Nationwide Children's Hospital.
The “Play Yellow” theme, according to the Memorial Tournament website, is inspired by the yellow shirts Jack Nicklaus wore during the final round of tournaments. He wore yellow to honor Craig Smith, the son of a close friend who fought bone cancer and died at 13 in 1971.
The “Play Yellow” campaign invites Memorial Tournament fans and players to do the following to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals:
- Wear yellow for Sunday’s final round
- Purchase special AHEAD brand or Nicklaus merchandise in the golf shop.Donate at concession stands or within the golf shop
- All donations made during the Memorial will go toward multiple initiatives at Nationwide Children’s Hospital
