Some restaurants have a long history of providing live music and entertainment. The most famous venue for cultured live music on the island is Chez Tao on the Route de la Citadelle in Calvi. The Chez Tao Restaurant was established in 1935 and is renowned as the place where the wealthy and sophisticated gather to eat and enjoy wonderful views of the bay accompanied by live piano playing.

If you want to dance through the night, check out Porto Vecchio where some clubs open until 4 am. The best known of these is Via Notte , which claims it’s the largest outdoor nightclub in Europe. Like most nightlife venues in Corsica, it’s based around a restaurant. But in summer, Via Notte stages parties for up to 5,000 people hosted by famous international DJs.

Getting Around

Unlike the rest of France, public transport isn’t great in Corsica. If you want to get around the island and see things, you should either hire a car and drive yourself or take tours that provide transport.

Most visitors to Corsica who want to explore the island’s stunning scenery hire a car. Although there are no freeways in Corsica, the main roads are well maintained and signed. Sadly, the same cannot be said for the narrow, winding mountain roads and remote rural roads.

You must take great care when navigating around blind turns through the mountains. Note also that French drivers don’t have a great reputation for safe driving. The speed limits are 37 mph (60 km/h) in urban areas, 56 mph (80 km/h) on country roads, and 68 mph (110 km/h) on 2-land highways. You’ll see lots of congestion and busy roads during July and August. During the rest of the year, the roads are relatively quiet.

To drive anywhere in France, you require a passport, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance on your person. Note that the minimum age for drivers is 18! It’s recommended you obtain an International Driver’s Permit that provides a translation of your license details into French. However, if you have any valid EU driver’s license, you won’t need an International Driver’s Permit.

Vehicle sharing

There is a popular car-sharing website in France that you might want to check out called BlaBlaCar . This website can help you connect with local people in Corsica who are planning drives across the island and would be willing to share their car if you’ll pay for their gas. While this doesn’t give you the freedom to explore on our own, it does give you the unique opportunity to connect with local people and learn about Corsican culture from a native.

Although I wouldn’t recommend the trains in Corsica for every journey, you should try them at least once during your stay. The mainline crosses through the mountains from Bastia to Ajaccio and provides amazing scenic views. However, the local U Trinighellu has tiny and uncomfortable shaking carriages. The services are notoriously unreliable and sometimes simply just don’t run.

Corsica does have reliable public buses. However, the services are infrequent, with only 1 or 2 buses a day between the main towns on the island. You should only rely on the buses if you have a lot of time on your hands.

For short journeys, you can always arrange a taxi. However, they are super expensive when compared with the cost of hiring your own car.

Accommodations

Corsica’s tourism industry is relatively underdeveloped. This offers the advantage of a relatively unspoiled landscape and few crowds. However, you’ll also find accommodation around the island relatively expensive and with fewer amenities than the French mainland. The main resorts include Ajaccio, Porto, Porticcio, Calvi, and Porto Vecchio.

If you want to explore off the beaten track, and you’re hiring a car, you might want to consider renting a holiday villa. If you’re coming with your whole family or a large group of friends, you’ll probably find it more economical to rent a villa for the week than to stay in a hotel. This seaport is the capital and largest town of Corsica and Napoleon’s birthplace. You can visit Maison Bonaparte and wander around the house where France’s greatest statesman and general was born. And the Musee Fesch , established by Napoleon’s uncle, is famous for its Renaissance art. The winter is coldest in January, with an average daily high of 57 0 F and a low of 41 0 F. By April, the fields turn green, and flowers flood the island with color. The temperatures range from a high of 64 0 F to a low of 48 0 F.

August is the hottest month, with an average high of 85 0 F and a low of 67 0 F. The earliest grape harvests come at the end of summer, with the main harvests during September and October. November sees a drop in temperatures. The average daily high drops to 63 0 F and the low 49 0 F.

Corsica’s capital boasts several notable landmarks, such as the Place de Gaulle where you can see an amazing equestrian statue of Napoleon Bonaparte erected in 1865. Many visitors flock to Ajaccio to visit Napoleon Bonaparte’s birthplace , where you can see family memorabilia, documents, and portraits of Ajaccio’s most famous son.

In the Palais Fesch art museum, you can visit a gallery dedicated to Napoleon which includes a collection of coins and medallions connected to his life story. However, the museum is more famous for its unique collection of Renaissance artwork. And the 16 th -century Cathedrale d’Ajaccio is where Napoleon was Christened in 1771.

This fortified town looms over the Mediterranean Sea atop a steep limestone cliff. At the heart of this medieval town is the 12 th -century Eglise Sainte-Marie-Majeure, a beautiful Romanesque church. The history of the fortified citadel stretches back into the 9 th century. In recent history, the fortress was an administrative center for the French Foreign Legion.

The red rocks are a result of years of erosion from both wind and water, which has created unique formations that look more like something you’d find in a fairytale than on an actual island in the Mediterranean. And, while the cliffs might look impossibly high and dangerous, there is a selection of hiking trails that wind their way around – and even through – the rocks, giving visitors an up-close-and-personal look at this natural wonder.

Just be sure to wear proper footwear (hiking boots or shoes with good traction) as some of the trails can be quite slippery when wet. And, if you’re visiting in summer, make sure to bring plenty of water as it can get very hot!

If you’re looking to hit up this area by boat (why else would you be reading this, right?) then, if you’re not renting your own vessel, your best bet will be a tour that departs from one of the nearby towns, like Porto or Ajaccio. These tours will typically take you on a leisurely cruise around the reserve, with plenty of time to stop and explore, and in the warmer months, plenty of time to jump in for a refreshing swim too!

Moving our attention from the popular southern and western shores over to the northern coast of the island now, let’s take a look at some of the best boat tours in Corsica that depart from the roads less traveled.

To give the lay of the land, the two main tourist areas along the island’s northern shores are Calvi and Bastia (and while this one is on the south, Solenzara is a common departure point for tours of the north).

Kickstarting things with Calvi , this is a great base for those who want to explore the nearby Scandola Nature Reserve (which we talked about earlier). But, Calvi is also home to a truckload of other attractions and activities that are well worth your time. Case in point: the Baroque St-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral, which dates all the way back to the 13th century, and the Notre-Dame de la Serra, a beautiful church that’s perched atop a hill dishing up sublime views.

There are also plenty of beaches in and around Calvi for those who want to soak up some sun, like Plage de l’Ile Rousse, Cala di Sant’Ambrogio, or Plage d’Algajola . And, for those who want to explore beyond the town limits, there is a good chunk of boat tours that depart from Calvi’s harbor – ranging from day-long excursions to longer multi-day trips.

Bastia , on the other hand, is Corsica’s second-largest city (after Ajaccio) and is known for its well-preserved old town – which is full of medieval streets and buildings – as well as its lively port area. There are also a number of museums and art galleries in Bastia if you’re looking to do some indoor exploring, like the Bastia Museum or the small Military Museum (free entry from Tuesday to Thursday).

Or, if you’d rather spend your time outdoors, then you can check out one of the city’s many parks, like Jardin Romieu. And, of course, there are plenty of beaches to relax on too, like Plage de l’Arinella or Plage de Miomo, with its impressive medieval watchtower.

Boat tours departing from Bastia will typically take you along the island’s northeastern coast – past places like Cap Corse and over to the nearby islands like Elba Island or Capraia Island. These trips can range from day-long excursions to longer multi-day adventures, so there’s something for everyone!

17 – Plage de Sainte Restitude (one of many near Calvi)

A short boat ride from the Calvi harbor on the island’s northwestern coast (or a quick 15-minute drive, if you’re on wheels), Plage de Sainte Restitude is a great spot for those who want to relax on a quiet beach without having to travel too far from town.

Walking distance to the Matahari restaurant as well as the Pain de Sucre eatery, despite being a supervised beach it still boasts an air of solitude, with natural seawater pools, usually calm waters, and brilliant sunset viewing making up a collectively beautiful panorama of the Bay of Calvi.

Sainte Restitude isn’t the only beach in the area though – there’s also Plage de Revellata (a remote spot with a lighthouse to boot), Plage de l’Arinella (a red pebble beach that stands out from the rest – not wonderful for tanning, but certainly for some beautiful scenery and photos), and Plage de l’Alga (a scenic beach that’s popular for boaters looking to jump in for a quick and refreshing swim).

So, if you’re looking for a day that’s the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, find yourself a boat tour (or rent your own) and hop around the peaceful beaches of greater Calvi!

18 – Plage de Saleccia (near Saint Florent)

Looking like something stolen out of the Caribbean and widely considered one of the most aesthetic beaches not just on Corsica but in Europe – it was, after all, chosen as the backdrop for the 1962 flick “The Longest Day” – this idyllic combination of white sand, aquamarine waters, and lush vegetation is about as close to paradise as you can get.

If you don’t have your own vessel, you’ll need to hop on one of the boat taxis — but the ride from St. Florent is a picturesque one at that.

And, if you happen to visit during the summer months, you might even spot some cows wading in the shallow waters or grazing on the grassy dunes – just another quirky addition to an already unique beach!

So, if you’re looking for a beach that has it all – breathtaking scenery, delicious food, and plenty of things to do – then look no further than Plage de Saleccia!

Hot tip #1: while you should definitely come prepared with snacks and water, contrary to popular belief for such a secluded spot, there is actually a restaurant about 200m from the north end of the beach in the pine forest, with a decent menu of food and cold drinks, plus toilets and shower facilities.

Hot tip #2: nearby sits the less famous Lotu Beach (see #19). Combine both of the beaches into one day for a complete experience!

19 – Plage de Lotu (near Saint Florent)

Accessible only by boat or hot and heavy coastal trek, this off-the-beaten-track landscape makes for the perfect pairing with Saleccia (see #18) — water taxis from Saint Florent can pick you up and drop you off at either of these beaches, while pre-organized tours will often make a stop at both… and, of course, if you rent your own boat, you can do as you please.

About a 45-minute walk from the more popular Plage de Saleccia With its clear waters and soft sand, Lotu Beach is the perfect spot for a relaxing day spent swimming, sunbathing, and simply taking in the incredible views.

At 400 meters long, even on the busier summer days when myriad yachts and speedboats come out to play, you’ll still easily find some peace and quiet here.

With a lovely little cafe for a spot of lunch or well-deserved ice cream (you’re on vacation, after all), this beach has everything you need for a perfect day spent enjoying the sun, the sand, and the sea.

And, like its more famous counterpart, you’re likely to spot a couple of cows lazing about on the shoreline – but that’s just part of the charm, right?

Whether you visit Lotu solo or as a double-whammy with Saleccia, you’ll quickly understand why it’s considered one of the best boat trips in Corsica – or the best destinations, at least.

20 – Cap Corse (the island’s northernmost cape)

Jutting out from the northernmost tip of the island like a giant arm reaching out to sea, Cap Corse is one of Corsica’s most unique and beautiful landscapes.

A haven for nature lovers, this 40km-long peninsula is home to some of the most stunning scenery on the island, with its rocky coastline, sheltered coves, and secluded beaches all combining to deliver an authentic atmosphere of serenity – exactly what you expect of an island getaway.

But that’s not all – Cap Corse is also home to myriad quaint villages and towns, each with its lovely unique character and charm.

From the fishing village of Nonza with its black pebble beach to the medieval town of Centuri with its fortified walls and towers, there’s something for everyone here.

And, if you’re looking for a little more adventure on land after docking, hiking trails are a dime a dozen (for a very easy half-day hike, look no further than the Centuri track from the Mattei Windmill to the Port), while the bounty of little inlets and coves make for snorkeling and diving galore.

In short, Cap Corse is the perfect destination for those who want to enjoy a little of everything that the island has to offer – and it’s most definitely one of the best boat tours in Corsica if you want to escape the crowds (even though, compared to mainland France, Corsica is rarely crowded anyway).

Best things to do in Saint Florent in Corsica – summary

The city of St Florent is very well located to explore the north of the island: Only 30min from Bastia, it is nestled between the mountains of Cap Corse and the Agriates desert. So, yes, it is worth the detour . It is one of our favorite destinations in Corsica .

The original medieval town was called Nebbiu. It has become a popular seaside resort but has kept all the charm of the old town, which is a great combination! It is protected by a 15th century citadel.

Then explore the city: Discover the narrow streets of the small peninsula with spectacular views at almost every turn. The historical center is organized around the Doria beach and its fountain. Find the church of St. Anne, the most remarkable with its pointed tower that overhangs the roofline. It dates from the 17th century.

2. Saint-Florent Citadel Corsica

The main point of interest in the old town is the Citadel. Built in 1440, it was one of the first places occupied by the Genoese. It was once one of the most important commercial places in Corsica.

It has a very original architecture and shape with 2 square towers and a round one. Its situation was strategic for the defense of Bastia and the control of the waters of the Mediterranean.

Today, the round building remains because part of it was destroyed in the 17th century. Its architecture is really surprising. We leave you the surprise. From the tour of the citadel, you have beautiful views of Saint-Florent and the gulf.

It is not a citadel to visit, but it opens for events and exhibitions.

3. Cathedral of Sant Maria Assunta (Nebbio)

The other building not to be missed during a visit to St. Florentine is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. In terms of architecture, don’t expect to see one of the huge French cathedrals. Also called the Cathedral of Nebbio, it dates from the 12th century and is more the size of a church. Nebbio was a diocese and a Genoese province.

You can already admire it from the outside. It is of Pisan Romanesque architecture in white limestone. It has a central nave with pillars on each side and a semi-circular apse.

If you are in Saint-Florent between July and September, you can visit it every day except Sunday. In this sober interior, you will discover the relics of Saint Flor, sculptures, statues

Practical info: the cathedral is not in the old town, but on the D238 road inland (less than 1km).

4. Bathing at La Roya beach, Ospedale…

You have several beaches around the city of Saint-Florent. Some are easily accessible.

The main beach of Saint-Florent is La Roya. It is located not too far south of downtown. Its shallow waters and protection in the gulf make it an ideal place for children. Free parking along the road.

5. Stroll along the Ospedale beach…

North of the Citadel, you can also find small beaches: Ospedale and Olzu beaches. One has small pebbles and the other has sand. However, these beaches are not visually appealing because they are surrounded by hotels.

But the most beautiful beaches of Saint-Florent are located in the desert of Agriates. The most famous is the beach of Saleccia (one of the best beaches in Corsica ). See the next section of this article.

6. Exploring the Agriates desert: Lotu and Saleccia beaches

One of the best things to do in Saint-Florent is to jump on a boat and go discover the Agrarian Desert. Even if you can’t hike, the boat transfer is worth it! And if you have the courage, the hike between Lotu and Saleccia is superb. Here is an introduction, but you can see all the tips and photos in our full article on the Agriates Desert .

Boat to the beaches of Lotu and Saleccia

It takes only 20 minutes by boat to reach the beach of Lotu pear in the gulf. The crossing offers beautiful views of the city, the mountains and the gulf.

From the beach of Lotu, you have a fantastic view of the mountains of Cap Corse plunging into the sea. Even if you don’t do the full hike, take the inland trail for great views with the beach, lagoon behind and mountains.

The water is shallow and transparent and the beach is sandy… it’s a great place to relax.

Beach of Saleccia

Then we recommend you to take the way of the interior towards Saleccia. You cross the Mediterranean maquis with beautiful landscapes all along.

And at the end you arrive at the famous beach of Saleccia where the colors seem unreal. The white of the sand, the turquoise of the water… It is also possible to get there directly by speedboat from Saint Florent. Read more

4WD in the Agriates Desert

If you are looking for something more exciting than boating, you can opt for a 4WD tour in the desert to reach some beaches. There are trails from the main road to the beaches. They last about 45 minutes and are very bumpy.

7. See the sunset

Saint-Florent is also one of the nicest cities in the evening. If the alignment is good at your time, don’t miss the sunset on the Gulf of Saint-Florent. Then enjoy the bars and restaurants, or a stroll along the harbor. You can also go to the beach of Roya for beautiful views of the illuminated city.

8. Enjoy the wines and vineyards of Patrimonio

Only 10 minutes from Saint-Florent is the vineyard of Patrimonio. It is an appellation for white, red and rosé wines.

They are very different from other Corsican wines because the hills are composed of clay and limestone. The main grape varieties are Vermentino and Sangiovese.

Because of the hills and the sea just behind, the landscape of the area is beautiful. So even if you don’t drink wine, we recommend driving through the area. But if you like wine, you can stop and visit one of the vineyards. Most of them are family businesses and most of the production is enjoyed on the island (few exports).

9. Discover the charming churches and villages of Nebbio

Unlike other places I have visited, the churches in Corsica are not very visually appealing. But my 2 favorites are located not far from Saint-Florent.

Saint Martin – church of Patrimonio

There is of course Saint-Martin in Patrimonio. It has a beautiful ochre color and an excellent location with the surrounding hills. It dates from 1653 and was renovated in the 19th century.

Saint Michael – church of Murato

The other is the beautiful Saint Michael of Murato. The polychromy is fascinating. It was built in 1140 with white and green stones and remodeled later (that’s why the bell tower is so high).

And you can find many others by exploring the roads on the heights of Saint-Florent.

10. Savour Corsica – the best restaurants in Saint-Florent

You can have good gastronomic pleasures in Saint-Florent with fresh seafood and fish, Corsican wine… In terms of restaurants we recommend

Restaurant La Gaffe When a Breton gets lost on the quays of a beautiful Corsican port, it gives La gaffe. The lobster from the Gulf of Saint-Florent is served alongside the Norman oyster from Isigny and the Corsican suckling pig is confit with Patrimonio wine. A true polyphony of taste to be consumed without moderation!

Restaurant L’Auberge du Pêcheur As its name indicates, here we eat raw fish directly from the fish market and the boat Saint Christophe! You can enjoy it raw in sushi or sashimi or cooked with vegetables and flowers from the garden. A favorite is the Provençal-style bass, caramelized fennel and parsley tuile…

Restaurant Delfino On the beautiful beach of the Ospedale, a magnificent terrace overlooking the sea. You can enjoy simple, healthy and good food. We like to nibble a truffled focaccia with the sea as our only horizon.

11. Eat an ice cream

There’s also a delicious artisanal ice-cream parlour that you shouldn’t miss if you like it, Maison Rovere, located along the harbour among the cafés and restaurants. There may be a line in season, but it’s not for nothing, the ice cream and sorbets are delicious. We sacrificed ourselves for you, and tested…

12. Driving north around Cap Corse

The main day trip from Saint Florent is of course the tour of the Cap Corse. The northern part of the island is one of the most famous regions. The visit can be done in one day, although we recommend two days to do some walking. You can see our complete guide to plan your tour of Cap Corse .

The Cap Corse is a wild region with only a few villages and impressive mountains plunging into the sea. Nonza and Erbalunga are worth a visit. And it is the only place to find black beaches in Corsica. However, the color is not due to volcanic ash (as in other countries) but to an old abandoned asbestos mine on the coast. It is a wild jewel not to be missed!

Allow 4 hours of driving (non-stop time) to do the complete tour. Pretty easy to drive, but there are some narrow passages on the west coast where passing a bus is a challenge…. I recommend driving counter-clockwise for the best views.

13. Driving south to Île-Rousse and the Balagne villages

Otherwise, you can head south. Take the D81 along the Agriates desert, stop at the fabulous beach of Ostriconi and continue to Ile-Rousse. Here you can discover a city very different from Saint-Florent, built by Pascal Paoli.

Take the time to walk to the lighthouse of Pietra on the main island. This way you can see the intense color up close and you get fantastic views of the mountains of Corsica.

You can also explore the beautiful villages of the Balagne, not far from Ile-Rousse (see our guide to visit the Balagne ). Our favorites are Pigna, Speloncato and Saint-Antonino.

More – Can we visit the calanques de Piana from Saint-Florent?

No. Don’t try to go to Porto and the calanques de Piana for a day trip. It doesn’t look very far on the map, but it’s a long way because it’s a small winding road. That said, the Gulf of Porto is one of our favorite regions in Corsica, so we recommend you go there. Make it a trip with an overnight stay. 14. Visit Bastia

And if you are tired of nature (I don’t see how that can be possible, but not everyone has the same taste as me…) you can go to Bastia, the second largest city in Corsica. One day is enough to explore the Citadel, visit the Governor’s Palace with its many paintings and stroll through the old port. The city is only 30 minutes by car from Saint-Florent.

15. Visit the village of Lama

The nearest village on the edge of the Balagne region, which we love, is Lama, one of the most beautiful in Corsica . It is an hour’s drive from Saint-Florent. It’s full of narrow lanes in all directions and offers beautiful mountain views. What’s more, like us, you’re sure to be surprised by a few middle-class houses with Italian-inspired architecture.

How to get to Saint-Florent

• Easy access from Bastia airport and the port of Bastia.
• Renting a car is essential for a vacation in Saint-Florent
• If you are going to travel around Corsica, we advise you to stay there for 1 or 2 nights (see my advice for your tour in Corsica ).

Parking in St Florent – parking and access

• We found St. Florent to be one of the easiest cities to visit in Corsica.
• It has large parking lots near the marina, the Citadel and the stadium.
• Parking lots are not free from May to October
• The city is surrounded by mountains but not too hilly. It is therefore easy to explore on foot
• There are beautiful walkways along the harbor and it is easy to get around.

How long to visit Saint-Florent

For the center of Saint-Florent, 1 hour of visit is enough. But to explore the region with the Agriates desert and Patrominio, count at least 2 days. But Saint-Florent is also an excellent destination for vacations in Corsica, alternating beaches and exploration of northern Corsica.

Best time to visit Saint-Florent

Saint-Florent is a popular destination. So if you can, avoid the summer vacation months (July and August). For a pleasant water temperature, prefer late June to early October. Otherwise the landscapes are beautiful all year round.

If you have no choice and are traveling in summer, visit early and book your boat tours in advance.

Giornata intera in barca a vela in Corsica da Santa Teresa di Gallura

Un fantastico tour a bordo di una bellissima barca a vela alla scoperta del sud della Corsica, con partenza da Santa Teresa di Gallura, porto strategico del nord est Sardegna. Dopo una mezz'ora circa di navigazione, potrai esplorare le zone più belle della costa con degli itinerari sempre personalizzabili in base al meteo della giornata, immergendoti in acque cristalline tra la rinomata meta di Cavallò o l'Isola Piana, separata dalla Corsica da un meraviglioso tratto di mare con acqua bassa.  Posti da sogno, con uno skipper a tua disposizione e un pranzo a base di prodotti tipici da gustare a bordo. 

• Navigazione in direzione della Corsica (30 minuti di navigazione)
• Possibili soste a: Isola Piana e Lavezzi (Bonifacio solo su richesta in caso di barca prenotata in uso esclusivo)
• Pranzo a bordo

L'itinerario prevede sempre due o tre soste, che verranno scelte dal nostro esperto skipper in base alle condizioni meteo marine della giornata. Sarà possibile tuffarsi direttamente dalla barca, nuotare, fare snorkeling e, vento permettendo, effettuare le soste direttamente in spiaggia grazie al trasferimento in tender (quando disponibile).

Il pranzo sarà servito a bordo e prevede: un aperitivo a base di prodotti tipici, un primo o un secondo a base di pesce fresco locale, vino, birra, frutta, dolci sardi e mirto, tipico liquore sardo. Qualora fossero presenti intolleranze alimentari o richieste particolari, non sono garantite delle alternative, ma sono possibili le opzioni no-fish o vegetariano.

Per questa escursione, sono disponibili tre barche a vela tra i 12 e i 15 metri di lunghezza. In base alla disponibilità giornaliera, effettuerai il tour con una delle tre imbarcazioni di cui tutte con le stesse caratteristiche, quali:

Trascorrete la notte a Bastia.

• Best Western Bastia Centre: Situato a 1 km da Porto Vecchio e dal centro della città. Questo hotel offre delle camere doppie spaziose e davvero pulite a partire da 75€ a notte, con colazione a 11.50€. I suoi punti forti: le camere confortevoli, il parcheggio privato, il personale gentile. Un’ottima scelta a Bastia per il suo rapporto qualità-prezzo!
• Hotel Port Toga: Questo hotel è situato nel cuore di Bastia, di fronte al terminal dei traghetti. Apprezzerete moltissimo le sue moderne camere doppie e i comodi letti. I prezzi partono da 85€ a notte. Ciò che ho apprezzato: la splendida terrazza sul tetto, la vista sul mare, la ricca colazione. Se dovete prendere il traghetto, è senza dubbio una scelta perfetta per le vostre vacanze a Bastia!
• Hotel Restaurant & Spa L’Ostella: Situato a 4 km dal centro e a 500 metri dalla spiaggia. Qui, potrete godervi confortevoli camere doppie, alcune con balcone e vista mare, a partire da 90€ a notte, con colazione a 12.50€. I suoi punti forti: il personale caloroso, il ristorante davvero eccellente, il centro benessere con piscina coperta e jacuzzi.
• Alivi: Situato a 350 metri dalla spiaggia e a 2 km dal centro di Bastia. Le camere doppie con terrazza sul mare partono da 135€ con colazione a 16€. I suoi punti forti: la piscina, la posizione, la vista, il ristorante. È la scelta che raccomando per chi desidera un soggiorno di lusso a Bastia!
• Hotel Des Gouverneurs: Situato nella cittadella, a soli 2 minuti a piedi dal Porto Vecchio. Qui potrete godrete di camere doppie eleganti e accoglienti a partire da 180€. Colazione a 19€. Ciò che ho apprezzato: la splendida vista su Bastia e sul mare, la posizione eccezionale, il personale caloroso e accogliente e la piscina coperta. È la scelta che raccomando per chi desidera un soggiorno di lusso a Bastia!

2) Capo Corso (1 giorno)

È giunto il momento di iniziare le vostre 2 settimane di tour della Corsica in auto .

Da Bastia, percorrete la costa orientale del Capo Corso per raggiungere Macinaggio.

Questo villaggio è il punto di partenza del sentiero dei doganieri lungo 19 km, che collega Macinaggio e Centuri. Non preoccupatevi, non farete tutta l’escursione ma solamente la parte più bella, ossia quella che va da Macinaggio a Barcaggio.

Durante questa escursione di 3h30, scoprirete spiagge e calette sublimi, perfette per una nuotata rinfrescante o un picnic.

E se non avete molta voglia di camminare, potrete fermarvi quando desiderate e godervi un pomeriggio di relax! Non avrete bisogno di camminare molto per scoprire questi posti meravigliosi.

Per il viaggio di ritorno, avrete 2 opzioni:

• A piedi: tornate alla Cappella di Santa Maria. Da lì, seguite il sentiero che attraversa l’interno dell’isola, è 1 ora più breve del sentiero sul mare.
• In nave: un battello collega Macinaggio e Barcaggio. È un ottimo modo per visitare il Capo Corso dal mare durante una bella gita in barca. Troverete maggiori informazioni su questo sito.

Trascorrete la notte a Macinaggio.

La compagnia di navigazione che si occupa delle navette propone anche delle crociere commentate alla scoperta del Capo Corso, delle Torri Genovesi e dell’arcipelago di Finocchiarola, con una breve fermata per fare un bagno!

È la migliore escursione da fare nel Capo Corso se non avete voglia di camminare. Potrete trovare maggiori dettagli su questo sito.

Ma c’è una soluzione ancora migliore!

Se desiderate visitare il Capo Corso lontani dagli altri turisti , dovreste optare per una gita privata in barca.

Potrete noleggiare una barca con uno skipper esperto che si prenderà cura di mostrarvi i luoghi più belli del Capo Corso.

Motoscafi, barche a vela, catamarani e persino yacht: scegliete la barca che più desiderate per trascorrere la vostra giornata da sogno!

Come potrete immaginare, questo tipo di giornata VIP in mare è estremamente richiesta, quindi dovreste noleggiare la vostra barca con skipper il prima possibile . Sarebbe un vero peccato perdersi una giornata del genere nel caso in cui tutte le barche fossero già noleggiate!

E se disponete di una patente nautica, potrete semplicemente noleggiare una barca cliccando qui per scoprire la costa del Capo Corso in totale libertà.

• Marina D’oro: Situato sul porto di Macinaggio, a 100 metri dalla spiaggia. Questo hotel offre delle camere doppie classiche a partire da 70€, con colazione a 7.50 €. I punti forti: la terrazza con idromassaggio, la sua vicinanza a ristoranti e negozi. È uno degli hotel più economici di Macinnagio, una scelta eccellente per un soggiorno economico!
• Adonis Macinaggio: Situato di fronte al porto. I monolocali o gli appartamenti con piccola cucina e balcone con vista sul giardino o sul mare partono da 75€ a notte. I punti forti: gli appartamenti sono stati rinnovati di recentemente, la pulizia, il parcheggio privato gratuito.
• Stella Marina: Situato a 100 metri dal porto. Apprezzerete moltissimo le camere doppie moderne e luminose recentemente rinnovate con la grande terrazza. I prezzi partono da 78€ a notte con colazione a 9.50€. Ciò che ho apprezzato: la piscina, la tranquillità, il parcheggio privato, il personale caloroso e accogliente. Rappresenta un’ottima scelta a Macinaggio per l’eccezionale rapporto qualità-prezzo!
• Hotel U Ricordu: Situato a 150 metri dal porto. Le camere doppie moderne e confortevoli partono da 80€, con colazione a 14€. Ciò che ho apprezzato: le 2 piscine esterne riscaldate, la vasca idromassaggio, i comodi letti, la tranquillità.
• The Tomino: Questo hotel a 4 stelle si trova sulle alture di Macinaggio. Apprezzerete le suite molto confortevoli e spaziose con terrazza privata e vista sul mare a partire da 345€, con colazione a 19€. Ciò che ho apprezzato: la piscina a sfioro, l’eccezionale vista sulla baia, il ristorante, l’ambiente tranquillo e rilassante. È l’hotel che raccomando per chi è alla ricerca di un soggiorno di lusso nel Capo Corso!

3) Saint Florent (1 giorno)

Per il terzo giorno del vostro itinerario della Corsica di 14-15 giorni, guiderete lungo la costa occidentale del Capo Corso.

Durante il vostro viaggio potrete visitare:

• Il belvedere del Mulino Mattei , a 20 minuti di auto da Macinaggio. Le viste panoramiche su Centuri e sul deserto delle Agriate sono magnifiche!
• Centuri e il suo porto.
• Pino , per visitare la Marina di Scalo e le sue tipiche case in pietra sul lungomare. C’è anche il convento di San Francesco.
• Il borgo Minerviu e il suo mausoleo costruito per una ricca famiglia corsa, somiglia un po’ al Pantheon di Roma .
• Canari e la sua vista mozzafiato dal Belvedere o dalla torre dell’orologio.
• Nonza, rinomata per la sua grande spiaggia di ciottoli neri.
• Farinole e la sua grande spiaggia sabbiosa con fondali bassi. È il posto migliore per una nuotata durante il vostro road trip nel Capo Corso!
• Patrimonio, famoso soprattutto per i suoi numerosi vigneti che producono il vino Patrimonio DOP. Fa anche parte della Strada del Vino.

Da Patrimonio, guidate per 10 minuti per raggiungere il villaggio di Saint Florent.

È giunto il momento di visitare il grazioso borgo marinaro di Saint Florent. Farete una breve passeggiata lungo le banchine, e in fine percorrerete le stradine del villaggio per raggiungere la cittadella.

Da qui, ammirerete una magnifica vista del golfo di Saint Florent e sul deserto delle Agriate, che visiterete il giorno successivo.

A Saint-Florent , potrete anche praticare svariate attività , come Jet Ski , Parasailing , Stand Up Paddle o Flyboard .

Troverete un parcheggio a pagamento (solamente in estate) proprio accanto al porto e dei parcheggi gratuiti vicino alla cittadella o allo stadio.

È inoltre possibile parcheggiare gratuitamente lungo la strada D81, a sud del porto.

• Adonis Saint-Florent: Situato a 600 metri dal centro di Saint Florent. I monolocali e gli appartamenti climatizzati con piccola cucina e balcone partono da 70€, con colazione a 9.50€. I punti forti: la piscina, la pulizia, l’ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. È l’hotel che raccomando per un soggiorno economico a Saint Florent!
• Hotel Tettola: Situato a 1.5 km dal porto di Saint-Florent. Questo hotel offre delle camere doppie a partire da 90€ a notte. I punti forti: la piscina, la posizione perfetta davanti al mare e a poca distanza dalla spiaggia, il personale cordiale e accogliente.
• U Palazzu Serenu: Questo hotel davvero grazioso e affascinante si trova a Oletta, a soli 10 minuti di auto da Saint-Florent. Questo hotel si trova all’interno di un palazzo del 17° secolo, con vista sul golfo e sul deserto delle Agriate. Offre delle camere splendide e spaziose, decorate con opere d’arte originali. Dato che l’hotel dispone solamente di 6 camere e 2 suite, avrete la garanzia di godere di un soggiorno intimo e tranquillo. Dovreste prenotare le vostre camere il prima possibile, per assicurarvi che non sia già tutto al completo! I prezzi partono da 180€ a notte durante l’inverno e 340€ durante l’estate, colazione inclusa. Cosa ho apprezzato: la grande piscina all’aperto, la magnifica vista (ancora di più al tramonto), il personale caloroso e accogliente, la tranquillità. È l’hotel che raccomando per chi cerca un soggiorno di lusso durante le proprie vacanze a Saint Florent!

4) Deserto delle Agriate / Calvi (2 giorni)

Il deserto delle Agriate è senza dubbio uno dei posti migliori da scoprire durante il vostro tour della Corsica di 2 settimane. Qui, godrete di 2 spiagge sublimi, spesso classificate tra le più belle della Corsica: Saleccia e Lotu.

Per la giornata successiva del vostro road trip della Corsica di 2 settimane, guiderete verso sud per raggiungere Ajaccio.

La città più grande della Corsica si trova a 2 ore di auto da Porto, ma non c’è bisogno di aver fretta: ci sono molti posti fantastici da visitare durante il vostro viaggio!

Se avete voglia di fare delle escursioni, fate un salto ai Calanchi di Piana. Anche se avete già potuto ammirare questo splendido sito naturale dal mare, fare delle escursioni sarà un ottimo modo per scoprire i paesaggi mozzafiato di Piana da un’altra angolazione!

Potrete anche guidare lungo la strada costiera panoramica che collega Porto e Capo Rosso. Ammirerete delle splendide viste sui Calanchi e sul mare e potrete fare un’escursione dal Capo alla torre genovese.

Ci sono anche molte belle spiagge se desiderate fare un tuffo rinfrescante durante il vostro viaggio:

• La spiaggia di Arone: una grande e bella spiaggia sabbiosa con diversi bar e ristoranti.

7) Bonifacio (3 giorni )

Durante il vostro itinerario della Corsica di 14-15 o 16 giorni, potrete visitare Bonifacio. È senza dubbio una delle città da non perdere dell’isola!

Ci vorranno solamente 2h30 per arrivare da Ajaccio a Bonifacio attraversando l’interno dell’isola, tuttavia vi consiglierei di percorrere la strada costiera che, sebbene sia più lunga , è quella che offre degli splendidi panorami e delle grandi spiagge!

Durante il vostro viaggio in auto scoprirete:

• La spiaggia di Agosta: una bellissima spiaggia di sabbia fine con acque profonde.
• La spiaggia di Ruppione: una spiaggia di sabbia selvatica molto graziosa con degli scogli in riva al mare.
• La spiaggia di Mare e Sole: chiamata anche “Spiaggia d’Argento”, questa spiaggia di sabbia bianca è senza dubbio una delle migliori spiagge del sud della Corsica!

Quindi, dirigetevi verso sud per raggiungere la piccola località balneare di Propriano per scoprire 2 luoghi sublimi situati nelle vicinanze: la spiaggia di Portigliolo e la baia di Campomoro.

Continuate il vostro percorso per visitare Sartene , un autentico villaggio con bellissime case in pietra.

Fate un’altra breve sosta al belvedere della Casa di Roccapina , per ammirare un enorme scoglio a forma di leone sdraiato, che si affaccia sulla spiaggia di Roccapina.

Prima di arrivare a Bonifacio, che ne dite di un ultimo tuffo in una delle splendide spiagge situate lungo la strada? Potrete scegliere tra:

• La Spiaggia di San Giovanni, situata nel Golfo di Figari. Presenta 2 graziose calette e la Torre Genovese di Caldarello.
• La Spiaggia di Paragan: questa spiaggia riparata con acque poco profonde è il luogo perfetto per una nuotata rinfrescante!
• La spiaggia di Fazzio , situata a 15 minuti a piedi dalla spiaggia di Paragan, alla fine di un piccolo fiordo.
• La Spiaggia di Tunara: una spiaggia di sabbia fine facilmente raggiungibile in auto e quindi è molto affollata durante l’estate
• La Spiaggia di Stagnolu: una spiaggia selvatica e tranquilla situata a 5 minuti a piedi da Tunara.

Trascorrete una prima notte a Bonifacio.

Il giorno successivo visiterete la città di Bonifacio . È senza dubbio uno dei posti migliori da vedere durante i vostri 15 giorni di giro della Corsica in macchina!

Fate una passeggiata in città per scoprire le sue imperdibili attrazioni:

• La cittadella e la città alta di Bonifacio
• La Porta di Genova
• La Fortezza dello Stendardo

Per il vostro ultimo giorno a Bonifacio, dovreste prendere la barca e visitare le Isole di Lavezzi .

Ci vogliono meno di 30 minuti per arrivarci dal porto di Bonifacio. Sull’isola scoprirete spiagge e calette sublimi .

Mi è piaciuta particolarmente la spiaggia di Chiesa, ma potrete passeggiare per tutta l’isola (1 ora) per trovare il posto migliore per fare una nuotata rinfrescante!

Poiché sull’isola non ci sono bar, ristoranti o servizi igienici, non dimenticate di portare tutto il necessario per la giornata.

Durante il viaggio di ritorno, godrete di una crociera commentata. Navigherete lungo l’ isola di Cavallo e ammirerete le scogliere di Bonifacio dal mare.

Continuiamo questo viaggio di 2 settimane in Corsica per scoprire la località di Porto Vecchio.

Qui, trascorrerete un’intera giornata nuotando e prendendo il sole in spiaggia. Potrebbe essere piuttosto difficile decidere dove andare, dato che tutte le spiagge nei dintorni di Porto Vecchio sono classificate come tra le più belle della Corsica! Potrete scegliere tra:

I punti forti: la piscina, la posizione, la vista sul mare, gli appartamenti confortevoli. Un’ottima scelta a Porto Vecchio per il suo eccezionale rapporto qualità-prezzo!
• Hotel Costa Salina: Situato alla fine del porto turistico di Porto Vecchio. Questo hotel offre delle camere doppie moderne e spaziose, di cui la maggior parte, con balcone e vista sul mare. I prezzi partono da 115€ a notte. Colazione per 16€. Cosa ho apprezzato: la piscina, il parcheggio privato gratuito, i letti comodi, il personale gentile.
• The Balamina: Situato a 2 km dal porto. Le camere doppie spaziose e luminose con arredamento raffinato partono da 140€ a notte, con colazione a 17€. I punti forti: la piscina interna, la terrazza sul tetto, il personale gentile.
• Residence Santa Giulia Palace: Situato a 800 metri dalla spiaggia di Santa Giulia. Apprezzerete questi appartamenti moderni e confortevoli, ben attrezzati e per un massimo di 6 persone. I prezzi partono da 160€ a notte. I punti forti: la piscina, l’ottima posizione vicino alla spiaggia, la splendida vista sulla baia, l’ambiente tranquillo. È l’hotel che consiglio per una vacanza di famiglia a Porto Vecchio!
• Hotel Le Roi Théodore & Spa: Situato a soli 5 minuti di auto dal centro della città. Questo lussuoso hotel offre spaziose camere doppie a partire da 200€ a notte. Colazione per 12€. Cosa ho apprezzato: lo splendido giardino e la piscina all’aperto, la spa, la piscina interna riscaldata, da deliziosa colazione, l’ottimo ristorante. È l’hotel che consiglio per un soggiorno di lusso a Porto Vecchio!

9) L’Ospedale e il Passo di Bavella (1 giorno)

Durante le vostre vacanze in Corsica di 2 settimane, trascorrerete molto tempo in spiaggia, ma avrete anche del tempo per fare delle escursioni tra le splendide montagne che offre l’isola!

Da Porto Vecchio, andate verso nord per raggiungere la foresta e il lago dell’Ospedale . Da qui, potrete fare un’escursione nella cascata più alta della Corsica, la Piscia di Gallu . Il viaggio di andata e ritorno dura da 1h30 a 2 ore.

Questa escursione è abbastanza semplice, c’è solamente una parte un po’ più ripida alla fine, prima di raggiungere la cascata.

Tornate alla vostra auto e guidate fino al Passo di Bavella. È il punto di partenza dell’escursione Trou de la Bombe (“Buco della bomba”). Mettete in conto circa 2h30 per il viaggio di andata e ritorno.

Vi consiglierei di dormire a Solenzara, situata a circa 1 ora di macchina dal Passo di Bavella. Sarà più facile raggiungere Corte il giorno successivo.

Se non avete voglia di camminare così tanto, potrete fare solamente 1 di queste escursioni.

Non dimenticate di fermarvi al Passo di Bavella per ammirare una splendida vista delle Aiguilles de Bavella dal parcheggio, anche se decidete di non fare l’escursione al Trou de la Bombe!

È inoltre possibile praticare delle discese in mountain bike a Bavella . Potrete trovare maggiori informazioni su questo sito.

Anche visitare il massiccio della Bavella è il modo perfetto per fare canyoning . Vengono proposti diversi percorsi, a seconda del canyon in cui si svolge l’attività e del livello di difficoltà.

• Hotel Restaurant La Caravelle: Situato a 350 metri dalla spiaggia, questo hotel offre camere doppie moderne e accoglienti. I prezzi partono da 70€ a notte, colazione disponibile per 8€. Punti di forza: il terrazzo con una bellissima vista mare, le camere ben arredate e recentemente ristrutturate.
• The Thyreneen: Situato sul lungomare di Solenzara. Queste ville con cucina completamente attrezzata per un massimo di 4 persone partono da 75€ a notte. Colazione per 8€. Quello che ho apprezzato: la piscina, la vista sul mare, il personale accogliente, la posizione tranquilla. Un’ottima scelta a Solenzara per il suo eccezionale rapporto qualità-prezzo!
• Hotel Des Nacres: Situato nella frazione di Travi, a nord di Solenzara. Amerete le camere doppie spaziose e luminose a partire da 80€ a notte. Colazione per 8€. Ciò che ho apprezzato: la piscina, la biancheria da letto confortevole, il personale cordiale.
• Hotel Maquis et Mer: Situato a 400 metri dalla spiaggia di Solenzara. Le piacevoli camere doppie, alcune con vista mare, partono da 115€ a notte, colazione disponibile a 12€. Punti forti: la calda accoglienza del personale, il parcheggio gratuito, la splendida vista.

10) Corte (1 giorno )

Per il giorno successivo del vostro itinerario della Corsica di 2 settimane, resterete sulle montagne intorno a Corte per godervi un’altra splendida escursione.

Potrete scegliere tra:

• La Cascade des Anglais (Cascata Inglese) nella foresta di Vizzavona. Camminerete lungo il fiume e scoprirete molte piscine naturali e delle cascate. Potrete trovare maggiori dettagli nel mio articolo dedicato.
• Le Gole della Restonica, alla scoperta dei laghi di Melo e Capitello. Se desiderate maggiori informazioni, date un’occhiata alla mia guida turistica di Corte.

Dopo la vostra escursione, guidate fino a Corte, dove trascorrerete la notte.

Fate una breve passeggiata per scoprire Corte e i suoi luoghi di interesse:

• La cittadella e il Musée de la Corse, dedicato alla storia dell’isola.
• Il belvedere , per ammirare un bellissimo panorama della cittadella e dei dintorni.
• Piazza Gaffory e la Chiesa dell’Annunciazione
• La Chapelle Sainte-Croix
• Cours Paoli e i suoi numerosi negozi e ristoranti.

Dovreste fare un salto al ristorante “La rivière des Vins” per cena . Situato in 5 Rampe Sainte-Croix, questo ristorante serve delle ottime carni cotte nel forno a legna. Tutti i piatti sono abbondanti e deliziosi!

Inoltre, gli enormi dessert fatti in casa sono semplicemente fantastici.

• San Giovanni House: Situato a 3 km dal centro di Corte. Le camere doppie graziose e pulite partono da 60€ a notte, colazione inclusa. Punti forti: il personale grandioso, la buona colazione a base di prodotti freschi, la calma. Un’ottima scelta a Corte per l’eccezionale rapporto qualità-prezzo!
• U Passa Tempu: Situato nel centro di Corte, proprio accanto alla Chapelle Sainte-Croix. I monolocali e gli appartamenti ben attrezzati con una piccola cucina partono da 90€ a notte. Cosa ho apprezzato: la posizione centrale, la calma, il parcheggio privato, l’accoglienza calorosa.
• Hotel Si Mea: Situato a 15 minuti a piedi dal centro. Questo hotel offre delle camere doppie spaziose e accoglienti a partire da 120€ a notte. Punti forti: la piscina, la ricca colazione a base di prodotti locali, la splendida posizione.
• Casa di a Restonica: Situato a 1 km dal centro. Le camere doppie moderne e confortevoli partono da 140€, con colazione a 14€. Punti forti: la piscina, la camera confortevole, la calma.
• Hotel Dominique Colonna: Questo hotel 4 stelle si trova a 1 km da Corte, sulle rive del fiume. Apprezzerete moltissimo le loro splendide camere doppie a partire da 400€, colazione inclusa. Cosa ho apprezzato: la splendida piscina, la terrazza sull’acqua, l’ambiente idilliaco, il personale gentile. È l’hotel che raccomando per un soggiorno di lusso a Corte!

È già l’ultimo giorno del nostro viaggio di due settimane in Corsica!

Da Corte, guidate per 1 ora e 15 minuti per raggiungere Bastia e prendete il volo o il traghetto di ritorno.

Se desiderate trascorrere solamente 14 giorni in Corsica, potrete saltare un giorno ad Ajaccio.

E se invece avete in mente di trascorrere 16 giorni in Corsica,   aggiungete un giorno nella città che più desiderate. Potrete trascorrere una giornata di relax in spiaggia o optare per un’altra escursione tra le montagne della Corsica!
