WARNING: Confronting images and details.

The tiger shark responsible for mauling a Russian tourist to death has been killed.

Vladimir Popov, 23, was attacked in front of stunned tourists while he was swimming at one of Egypt's Red Sea resorts in the city of Hurghada on Thursday.

Distressing footage circulating on social media showed the man screaming for his father as he is pulled underwater by the 10 foot shark several times.

Popov could be heard crying out for "papa" as he tried to swim away.

The shark circled and attacked the Russian several times, with his legs lifting above the surface at one point while others tell him to swim to shore.

Witnesses claimed the tiger shark toyed with his body for two hours.

Locals later drove boats out to the sea and followed and then captured in a net what they believed was the animal that killed Popov.

The shark, which had one hook attached to its nostril, appeared to be alive as it was dumped onto the beach and surrounded by onlookers.

One man holding a metal pole could be seen in a social media clip repeatedly beating the shark over the head and trying to pry open its mouth.

Egypt's Environment Ministry confirmed the tiger shark had been caught and would be examined in a laboratory to investigate what may have triggered the rare attack.

Researchers will investigate whether it was responsible for other incidents.

Popov's father Yury told local Egyptian media the pair went to the beach to "relax".

"My son was attacked by a shark. It all happened in seconds," he said.

"This meat grinder... it is just some kind of evil fate."

Authorities comment on suspected appearance of tiger shark in Marsa Alam

Claims spread on social media report the reappearance of a tiger shark off the coast of the Red Sea, specifically in the city of Marsa Alam.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Environment Ministry, Heba Maatouk explained on Saturday that: “The ministry has not yet received any report, and what was reported in the past few hours about the appearance of a tiger shark in Marsa Alam is incorrect.”

Maatouk assured that the ministry would issue an official statement in the event of a confirmed sighting of any dangerous sharks.

It is normal for sharks to be present in the depths of the Red Sea, she said, and it reflects a stable marine environment.

The spokesperson appealed to citizens not to publish and circulate misleading news and urged people to enjoy their vacations.

In June 2023, a shark attacked a Russian tourist in the Red Sea, tearing him apart and devouring him completely.

At that time, the Environment Ministry issued a statement confirming that a tiger shark had attacked a beach-goer, leading to his death. It was later revealed that the tourist was Russian.

A Russian man has died after being mauled by a tiger shark off one of Egypt’s Red Sea resorts, with disturbing video taken from the beach appearing to show him screaming “papa” as the attack unfolded.

The 23-year-old Russian national had gone swimming in the waters off his resort near the city of Hurghada when a shark emerged underwater and grabbed him.

The attack forced the Egyptian authorities to close off a 74-kilometre (46-mile) stretch of the coastline, announcing it will remain off limits until Sunday.

Officials from the Russian Consulate in Hurghada identified the man as a Russian citizen. He has been name locally as Vladimir Popov.

His dad has since spoken of watching the attack from the shore.

“We went to the beach to relax,” Mr Popov, originally from Russia, told the 112 media outlet. “My son was attacked by a shark, it all happened in seconds.”

“What kind of help can you give? This meat grinder happened in 20 seconds, he was just dragged under the water.”

He added: “This is an absolutely ridiculous coincidence, because it is a safe beach. There are ships and yachts around. It’s never happened there. They usually attack on wild beaches. It’s just some kind of evil fate.”

A nearly minute-long video appearing to be of the brutal shark attack shows the man being suddenly pulled down into the water, only for him to resurface and desperately fight off the shark when suddenly the water around him goes red.

He also screams out “papa” and cries out loudly as the shark repeatedly circles and comes back in to attack. Later in the video a witness is heard saying “it is eating his remains now” as a small ship sails in the distance.

The environment ministry in Egypt later said it had caught the shark and was examining it in a laboratory to try to determine the reasons for the rare attack.

Images shared on social media showed the body of the bloodied shark lying on a sheet on land.

Shark attacks are rare in the Red Sea coastal regions. In 2022, two fatal attacks were seen in Hurghada within days, killing an Austrian and a Romanian tourist.

A young Russian man was mauled to death by a shark off one of Egypt's Red Sea resorts, according to Egyptian and Russian authorities.

The man, named as Vladimir Popov by Russian media, died after being attacked by a tiger shark in the waters near the city of Hurghada, Egypt's environment ministry said.

Footage circulating online, purportedly of the attack, shows a man thrashing about in the water before being repeatedly attacked by a shark circling him and then dragged under.

The ministry later said the shark had been caught and was being examined in a laboratory to try to determine the reasons for the rare attack.

A 46-mile (74km) stretch of the coastline was closed off by authorities, who announced it would remain off-limits until Sunday.

The man's father, Yury Popov, was forced to watch the attack helplessly from the shore as the predator circled the 23-year-old and eventually dragged him under the water.

Speaking to the 112 media outlet following his son's death, Mr Popov said: "We went to the beach to relax. My son was attacked by a shark, it all happened in seconds."

"There are ships and yachts around. It's never happened there. They usually attack on wild beaches. It's just some kind of evil fate," he said.

Other videos being shared online show the tiger shark being caught alive and dragged ashore by a boat following the attack, before being clubbed to death.

It is considered rare for shark attacks to take place in the coastal areas of the Red Sea.

However, there were two fatal incidents of shark attacks last year in Hurghada within a few days of each other, resulting in the deaths of Austrian and Romanian tourists.

A TIGER shark was clubbed to death in a savage revenge attack after the beast killed a tourist at a popular resort in the Red Sea.

Tourists watched in horror as Vladimir Popov, 23, was dragged under the water and mauled to death by the 10ft "meat grinder" shark in Egypt's Hurghada.

The shark was hauled to shore and brutally beaten

Popov's helpless dad Yury was watching from the shore as his son desperately screamed "papa, papa" while the predator hunted him.

Witnesses said the shark savaged Popov before toying with his body for a harrowing two hours in the water.

Footage then showed the beast being hauled out of the sea on a small boat in a net before being dumped on the beach and ferociously beaten.

The shark appeared to be alive as it writhed on the sand with a hook in its eye.

His dad Yury told local media: "We went to the beach to relax. My son was attacked by a shark. It all happened in seconds.

"This meat grinder happened in 20 seconds... it is just some kind of evil fate."

Initial reports suggested Popov was with his girlfriend at the time - but local media reports said she's currently in Russia.

It's understood a woman who was also in the water managed to escape.

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed the death of a citizen from a shark attack.

When the incident happened, voices in the sea pleaded: “Swim away, swim away! Quick! A shark!"

One eyewitness said: "It was about seven metres from the shore."

Another said: "The shark appeared, and immediately bit the man.

"He tried to swim away from the shark, but he couldn't.

"It dragged the body for two hours. It constantly dragged him under the water."

Russian tourists have been told to be vigilant in the popular resort and follow the instructions of hotel staff.

It comes after a  37-year-old tourist was ambushed by a shark  at a Red Sea resort in Aqaba, Jordan, in June 2021.

The man was parasailing when he suddenly began to graze the ocean.

A shark then leapt from the water and chomped his leg - and the tourist miraculously managed to not get dragged beneath the water.

He was left brutally bitten and sustained serious injuries from the attack.

And in July last year, a  tourist was mauled to death by a shark  in Sahl Hasheesh, Egypt.

The 68-year-old snorkeller had apparently told her partner she was just going back into the water "for a moment" before being killed.

Her lifeless body was pulled out of the sea after being located on a reef, according to horrified eyewitnesses.

The body parts of a Russian tourist who was filmed being eaten alive by a shark were recovered from inside the predator’s belly after it was clubbed to death by beachgoers near an Egyptian resort.

Vladimir Popov, 23, was caught on bone-chilling footage being attacked by a tiger shark last week and dragged underwater in Hurghada as he screamed for help, NY Post reports.

The shark was later caught and beachgoers beat it to death on the shore.

The shark has since been dissected by specialists, who confirmed that the animal was the one that ate Mr Popov — after finding his remains in its intestines, local outlet Al Arabiya reported.

Officials said the shark attacked Mr Popov while he was swimming in the Red Sea at a resort beach location in Hurghada.

Mr Popov’s father Yury said the pair had “gone to the beach to relax” when all of a sudden, his son “was attacked by a shark,” CEN reported.

Mr Popov was in the water with his girlfriend, who escaped, while fellow beachgoers said there was little they could do as the shark chomped down on him.

In terrifying video, Mr Popov can be seen splashing about in the ocean before getting dragged under as horrified onlookers scream for help.

According to CEN, the victim had yelled, “Papa … save me!” before getting yanked underwater.

Eyewitnesses also claimed the shark toyed with the Russian’s body for two hours after the killing.

Yury deemed the attack “an absolutely ridiculous coincidence,” adding that he would cremate his son’s remains and return the ashes to Russia.

The attack left many tourists stunned, with beachgoers convening when investigators caught the shark and dragged it ashore.

A vigilante mob was present to brutally club the animal to death.

Video of the scene shows the group horrifically beating the animal, and it concludes with the cameraman even posing for a selfie as the savage scene unfolds in the background.

Officials have yet to reveal if the shark that ate Mr Popov was involved in other reported incidents in the area.

While attacks are fortunately rare in Red Sea coastal regions, last year, sharks killed two women — an Austrian and a Romanian — just days apart in another popular tourist spot in Hurghada.

A video captured the moment when a group of people brutally clubbed the tiger shark to death as revenge for the Russian tourist.

In the clip, boaters were seen lashing a large tiger shark that they caught to the side of their boat. One man holding a metal pole was also seen repeatedly beating the shark over the head and trying to pry open its mouth.

Breaking news, egypt mummifies shark that ate russian man to display in museum.

WARNING: Graphic Content

Museum specialists in Egypt are mummifying the shark that savagely ate a Russian man swimming at a popular resort beach so that the monstrous predator can be put on display.

Specialists at the Institute of Marine Sciences and the Red Sea Reserves began the embalming process of the animal on Monday, local outlet Al Arabiya reported.

Once the process is completed, the mummified shark will be on display in the institute’s museum.

Body parts belonging to the man who was ravaged, Vladimir Popov, were discovered inside the animal, confirming to authorities they had captured the shark that was involved in Thursday’s attack near the Elysees Dream Beach Hotel at the popular beach resort, Hurghada.

Horrifying video footage of the attack shows Popov, 23, splashing frantically in the ocean before getting dragged underwater as fearful onlookers cry out for help.

Museum specialists extracted half of the Russian man’s body from inside the shark, including his head, chest, and arms. Soon after the accident, fishermen found the other half of his remains out at sea.

The shark nearly consumed all of Popov’s body, but discarded the second half after noticing a fishermen’s boat attempting to come to the scene and help the man.

After pulling the lower half of Popov’s body out of the water, the fisherman chased the shark and caught it in order to have specialists in Hurghada analyze and dissect it.

Officials are hoping that by analyzing the shark they might be able to come up with a plan to prevent other ones from attacking beach-goers.

According to Al Arabiya, Governor of the Red Sea Major General Amr Hanafi is looking into installing nets at some beaches, hotels, and tourist villages in order to prevent sharks from reaching swimmers.

Initial reports claimed that Popov was a Russian tourist, however, Russia’s consul general in Hurghada confirmed Popov had been living in Egypt for several months.

Popov’s girlfriend reportedly managed to escape the water unscathed as bystanders unsuccessfully tried to save him.

The slain man’s father said the pair had “gone to the beach to relax” when all of a sudden, his son “was attacked by a shark.”

The attack left beachgoers stunned, with many waiting to bludgeon the shark to death after a fisherman dragged it ashore.

Video of the scene shows the group horrifically beating the animal, and it concludes with the cameraman even posing for a selfie as the savage scene unfolds in the background.

It’s unclear if the shark that ate Popov was involved in any other reported incidents in the area.

Though shark attacks are rare in the Red Sea coastal regions, last year, sharks killed two women  — an Austrian and a Romanian — just days apart in the same popular tourist location.

Russian man killed in shark attack off Egypt’s Red Sea resort

Coastline to remain off limits with a ban on swimming, snorkelling and other water sports activities until Sunday.

A Russian man has died after being attacked by a shark off the coast of Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Hurghada, officials have said.

The Environment Ministry said that the man was killed after being mauled by a tiger shark in the waters near Hurghada on Thursday.

The authorities closed off a 74-kilometre (46-mile) stretch of the coastline, and announced that it will remain off limits with a ban on swimming, snorkelling and other water sports activities until Sunday.

“An attack by a tiger shark on a beachgoer … led to his death,” the ministry posted on Facebook, without providing further details.

A video circulating online, purportedly of the attack, shows a man thrashing about in the water before being repeatedly attacked by a shark circling around him, and then being dragged under.

The ministry later said it had caught the shark and was examining it in a laboratory to try and determine the reasons for the rare attack.

The Russian Consulate in Hurghada identified the man as a Russian citizen but did not give his name.

Russian Consul-General Viktor Voropayev told state-owned TASS news agency that the Egyptian authorities had confirmed to him the death of the Russian national who was born in 1999.

“The victim was not a tourist, but a permanent resident of Egypt,” Voropayev told the news agency.

A diver who arrived on the scene just after the attack said people had rushed to help the victim after a lifeguard from a nearby hotel raised the alarm, but were not able to reach him in time.

History of shark attacks

Egypt’s Red Sea resorts, including Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, boast some of the country’s most renowned beach destinations and are popular with European tourists. Divers are attracted by the steep drop-offs of coral reefs just offshore, which offer a rich and colorful sea life.

Shark attacks are rare in the Red Sea coastal regions.

However, in 2022, there were two fatal attacks in Hurghada within days, killing an Austrian and a Romanian tourist.

In 2018, a Czech tourist was killed by a shark off a Red Sea beach. A German tourist was similarly killed in 2015.

In 2010, a spate of five attacks in five days unusually close to the shore of tourist hot spot Sharm el-Sheikh killed one German and injured four other foreign tourists.

VIDEO: Florida man reels in massive tiger shark

Mason carson bet $100 he could get on the news.

Anthony Talcott , Digital Journalist

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man caught a whopping 13-foot-long tiger shark late last month during a fishing trip off the coast of Sarasota County.

Mason Carson told News 6 that the catch happened on July 26 when he went fishing with some friends. However, this isn’t the first time he snagged a shark.

“Typically, we get a lot of bull sharks, a lot of blacktips. During the winter time, we’ll get a lot of sandbar sharks, and occasionally, we’ll get tigers and hammers — but not typically tigers this big,” Carson explained.

There was another incident a couple of years ago where he managed to reel in a roughly 9-foot-long bull shark. But this tiger shark was the first time he snagged one this big.

“It was definitely a surprise,” he said. “We had quite a few rods and reels out at that point, and the rod that I actually caught the tiger shark on was kind of (for) smaller fish and smaller sharks. I had smaller bait put out... and it just so happened that the smallest reel and the smallest bait got picked up.”

Carson assured that — after taking some pictures and video of the shark — he released the shark back into the water, just as they do with their other shark catches.

After catching the 13-foot-long shark, though, Carson made a bet with a friend that he could make it on the news — thus sparking a call to News 6.

“I bet in the Wawa parking lot with a buddy. He bet me 100 bucks that I couldn’t get on the news with my tiger shark,” Carson said. “He was scrolling through Instagram and seeing a guy had a saw fish on the news, and he bet me 100 bucks that I couldn’t get on the news for my tiger shark.”
