What is the square on the front bumper for?

I just purchased a 2012 Journey, and noticed a square on the front bumper. I was wondering if this was for a engine heater cord?

No the engine block heater cord is up top under the hood next to the square fuse plastic cover..........It may have been for a assembly line hook/holder for when painted or hung up(pre-mounting area)...I really don't know...........Someone will tell us .........LOl................Caper...........

i asked the dealer he told me it was for when your journey needs to be towed the tow truck driver removes the plug and connects the cable to winch the car onto the flat bed to prevent any damage. at least thats what he told me.But i also asked him what that 3rd tit on top of the dash in the center by the windshield was for and he just looked at me and said he thought it was for the security like some other cars have. i said it doesnt blink but i have a light in the cluster that blinks which i thought was the security light.Was wondering if it was for the gps that i dont have on my journey. oh well i havent lost no sleep over that one .LOL

I beleive the it is the sensor for the automatic lighting system - it detects the daylight to determine when the automoatic lights come on.

thanks might be, but I dont have the auto lights either so i guess its still the 3rd tit that doesnt do nothing.. has any one had to replace the wiper blade on the hatch back yet,looks like a dealer replacment only blade?

I don't even think a cable with a hook for winching would fit in there...Small little square.......LOL...Caper........

The small square conceals a threaded hole for an eye bolt,

This has been Euro standard for years.

If you look closely there is another on the back bumper

(mine does) plus a very large vertically mounted eyelet

in the rear.

My daughter recently got a Mazda CX5 and they even

provide the eye bolts that screw into those spots.

Again maybe for towng or assy line not positive

on original intent.

If you take that square cover off you will see threads for an eye bolt to be screwed in there. A tow truck or similar vehicle would pull the vehicle out of a ditch or up on to a flatbed using a cable hooked to that eye bolt so they don't damage your front fascia by hooking the cable under the vehicle.

Are they a M-10 or M12 thread............would be nice to have a couple of them on you.

I can't see a local tow truck guy in a small town having these threaded eye bolt with him....Caper..........

Here in Europe, as my Fiat Freemont, every car comes with the eyebolt in the trunk. In my car, i found it under the lid, where the jack is stored.

I Never did check in my Canadian model?

just check my 2011 mainstreet and the rear has a very large vertically mounted eyelet underneath the bumper but it lookss like if they tried to use that it would scrape the plastic cover also checked for the eye bolt for the front where the jack was but there wasent one, there was a eye bolt attached to the top of the jack but it didnt screw off so dont know if they come with U.S. version or mine got left out .oh well worry about that when and if it evers needs to be towed..

This is for the transport car haulers,trains etc. to chain down directly under the journey....To reach rhe dealers.....Caper....

just called the dealership about the eye bolt that screws into the front bumper and was i supposed to have one in my car somewhere , they didnt have no idea or have never heard about one being supplied with new cars in U.S. they said the tow truck drivers are supposed to have them. i told her that i had just seen a flat bed tow truck driver this morning and asked if he had such bolts and he replied NO that different cars had different size bolts and that they didnt supply the bolts that they were supposed to come with the cars.( which does make sence) checked my spare tire area real good and no such bolt.also looked in my manual and there is no mention about this eye bolt and or the place in the front bumper where it screws in.

I took my square insert out , and all I see is Black foam material behind there (2012 R/T Canada)

very satisfied so far, speedy service and customer friendly, This is my 3rd one in the past year, the last 2 were purchased from a Florida re-builder and both times they failed within 3 months. there prices were higher and there turn around time between 6 to 9 weeks.

A local shop wanted to charge me $4,500 to install a new TIPM, I removed mine and sent it in to Module Masters. They repaired it and had it back to me in a week and I was able to install it and get back on the road!

After reinstalling my Module Master rebuilt TIPM, everything electrical is working correctly!! Thanks so much for a quality job!

The problem is that the two piece kit uses the same photos as the three piece kit. Ask for actual photos. Disadvantage of the three piece is the variable gap between the silver trim and main body. Even mine has become a little more noticeable over time. Im tempted to take it off and glue it solid, as I cant see a long term reason for them being detachable. Only makes the initial color coding simpler. Ive detailed my back end today...laying exhausted in bath now but ill get piccies up in my normal fashion, i.e. late.   Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project. DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights. TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

So, 2 piaces kit is better? And send me only this photo No real photoes.... How do you think, shall I buy this one?

Yes, i want the same kit...It looks great. But they don't send to Russia.

Just rive the spinning one out mate as it sits in rubber and you can put it back in when you have took the metal bit off. I had 3 spinning lol
