Our family of 4, two middle-aged parents with two teenaged boys, had an excellent experience kayaking and snorkeling with skilled, experienced guide, Cody. He was friendly, knowledgeable, informative and led us to the perfect spot for snorkeling - we saw so many turtles, swimming around us and also resting on the ocean floor. He also offers photography services - beautiful above and underwater photos.

Tyler was great. He shared his wealth of knowledge of the ocean and island and we really enjoyed our time with him. He is also a lifeguard and made everyone feel comfortable on the tour. This kayak/snorkel experience was our favorite thing we did on the island!

We had a great time on our kayak and snorkel tour. Our guide, Tyler, was amazing! He was so patient, friendly and encouraging! Our kids (9 and 11) loved it! We saw lots of sea turtles and coral. Tyler did a great job with instructions and safety. Would definitely recommend!

Tyler was great! He provided lots of history of the island and information about the delicate ecosystem. He was personal and provided additional assistance to my wife as a inexperienced swimmer, which made her feel more in the water. We saw lots of tropical fish and a couple of sea turtles. We had a great time on our Kayaking and Snorkeling tour. Our guide Mark was amazing. I really cannot say enough good things about him. During our trip we saw several turtles. Mark took us to a fantastic snorkeling spot where we saw turtles and a variety of fish.

Thoroughly enjoyed our guided experience kayaking over hidden reefs off Lahaina & experiencing plenty of sea turtles! It’s was fun, interactive and all in all a superb way to spend a morning on the way up close and personal with some beautiful sea life.

We had a really great kayak adventure. It was very relaxing on the calm waters in the ocean. We aren’t the most experienced kayakers, but our guide made it easy to learn quickly. We saw turtles and the bluest water I’ve ever seen. Thanks for a great time!

Kudos to some very friendly service at Maui Ocean Sports! We arrived too late in the day to get a full 2 hour kayak rental before they closed but the colleague working sorted something out for us so that we could get on the water for a short period.

Fantastic experience for our whole family. We have three teen boys and it was great! Two fantastic guides for our group of five kayaks. Took us way out to the last moored boat, over a half mile out. Saw turtles and a Monk seal.

Each location provides a unique experience, and our staff can help you choose the best location for your experience, fitness level, and current ocean conditions. No experience is required! Our dedicated kayak guides will take the time to make you feel comfortable, both on and in the water, even if it is your first time kayaking or snorkeling. If you’re fit and have the experience, our guides can take it up a notch, satisfying the explorer in you.

During winter months in Maui, there are humpback whales galore! We offer two great locations for kayak whale watching: Makena or Olowalu . There is simply no better way to go whale watching in Maui than from an ocean kayak. No crowds, no engine noise or diesel fumes—just you, your kayak guide, and the humpback whales. Our small group and private Kayak Whale Watch Tour allows you to have a once-in-a-lifetime, nature based whale watching experience. Although wildlife is highly unpredictable, sometimes the whales come to check out our kayaks, providing an up-close and personal life-changing experience!

Whale Watching Tours

Whale watching is a must if you’re lucky enough to be in Maui from December through April. Now the question is… how?

If you’re on our website, you’re looking for a more personal experience. You probably won’t be satisfied crammed on a catamaran, or even larger whale watching boat, with hordes of people. On our private and small group whale watching tours, everyone gets a front-row seat to view humpback whales without disturbing them with a loud boat engine. We’ll paddle out with you on a kayak so you can watch these gentle giants in their natural environment. With the lack of crowd and engine noise, you’ll hear them as they exhale and send a spray of water into the air, commonly referred to as “spouting.” You may also see pec slaps, fluke slaps, spy hops, and whale breaches.

Every day is different when it comes to whales and the marine environment. We often encounter newborn calves with their mother and escorts, where we can watch them for hours without disturbing them. Sometimes we get a real treat and have a competition pod swim by with several male humpback whales competing for a female to mate with. We embark on our South Maui Kayak Tour from the historic Makena Landing; launching our craft in the shadow of the iconic crest of Haleakala Crater. Just ahead, is a perfect view of Molokini Crater .Your guide is a Certified Marine Naturalist and trained in CPR and First Aid they will share interesting sea turtle facts as you paddle alongside the Makena and Wailea coast, enjoying breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains, Molokini Crater, and the nearby islands of Kaho’olawe and Lana’i.

Once we arrive at Turtle Town, you’ll find dozens of independent reefs strung throughout this popular cleaning station for Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles . Turtle Town is often filled with tourists as well as turtles, but your guide will lead you away from the crowds to snorkel with sea turtles in a less frequented, but just as stunning, snorkel spot tucked among the varied reefs.

Sea turtles love the underwater caves and arches dotting these reefs, including the popular dive sights, Five Caves and Turtle Arches, and you’ll find plenty of resident sea turtles year-round – if you know where to look. Your guide will show you the hidden hangouts of these peace-loving, long-time residents.

Do it all—ocean kayak and snorkel, waterfalls, and rainforest—in one 7.5 hour trip. Kayak for 2.5 hours along South Maui’s dramatic lava-covered landscape. Snorkel with Hawaii’s large green sea turtles. After kayaking we drive from ocean to rainforest for a hike to two waterfalls, where you can swim and jump from safe rock ledges. Hike Maui’s kayak/snorkel partner is Kelii’s Kayaks. Nutritious lunch and snacks included.

DIFFICULTY RATING: Moderate—Easy for some, more challenging for others, depending upon weather and water level conditions. Appropriate for participants ages 6 and above with no mobility issues.

• 7:00am – 2:30pm, please allow time to drive to the tour start location. This tour is not recommended for guests without a rental vehicle. Please contact us if you’d like more information.
• Total hiking distance is approximately 1 mile.
