AP Tourism Hotels - Haritha at Horsley Hills

The Resort has a number of independent cottages, eight other buildings with nice names (like Wind Whistle, Whispering Winds etc) consisting of quite comfortable rooms some with balconies with beautiful views. The central restaurant caters fairly good food. I could see they have yet to learn the art of fine cuisine, but don't doubt their earnestness to please you. The concept of quick room service is mostly absent. So, before going back to your rooms, its better to pick up whatever you need, at the restaurant. In general, our stay was very pleasant during a midweek break.

Visited this property in June 2015. It's an average maintained resort, staff is also, just about right. As mentioned by other visitors, there is just one guy, whom you need to contact for almost anything and everything. Get past these small niggles and you find yourself in a beautiful place, full of natural greenery. View points are nice and open. Try to find the Krishna Temple and highest altitude view point marked on the map. It's there, but you will need to find it. Overall, a nice place for getting away from city hassles. PS: The resort has some outdoor activities as well.

Horsely Hills is around 150kms away from Bangalore city, and that makes it a good destination for a week end travel. I shall split my thoughts about the place into two, Horsely Hills itself and my stay at the APTDC resort Haritha. Horsely Hills, is a small hillock 25 kms away from the town of Madanapalle in A.P. The place can be compared with smaller hill stations like Yelagiri or Yercaud (both in Tamil Nadu). A significant difference is the that of the terrain and environment. Where as Yelagiri and Yercaud seems to be more greener, Horsely Hills has lesser vegetation and more of good rocks and boulders *. A 10km road from the level ground takes a visitor the summit of the hills. Once the visitor reaches the hill top, he realises that the hill-top is pretty much the property of the state run Andhra Pradesh Tourism Dev. Corporation. There is only one entry/exit point at Horsely Hills summit. Horsely Hills offers some view points from where the surrounding areas can be viewed. The hills generally becomes more serene and silent when the evening sets in. The view points offer a good view of the sunset. The nights are a bit more colder, and mornings also brings in speedy winds. A brisk walk in the morning, covering all the view points once again in sun light and then it is pretty much done. The Haritha Resort does have a few out door activities lined up, but that is open only for a group of tourists. For a lone visitor, or one with a small family the place is just right to complete reading a book which was pending for a long time, or to spend some time with the family, without much disturbance or working on a long list of must see places. Horsely Hills ideally is good for a night's stay. Reach the place by 1130hrs and then depart by around 1030hrs the next day. Haritha Resorts run by APTDC is pretty much the only establishment which is open for general tourists. There was another private establishment, and another guest house for the Indian Railways. Haritha Resorts have a restaurant & bar, and various types of guest accommodation available. I had stayed in a block named "Wind Falls". Reservation was simple, done on-line. Check in was also a smooth experience. The "room" offered to us how ever was really big - it was like a small 2 bedroom flat in Bangalore. So potential visitors can check up with ATPC to understand the "room" better and go for the best option. The "Governor's suite" seems to be the most expensive, and there were dormitory accommodation as well. Please note that the resort is like a sprawling college campus, and each building unit is slightly away from the other. From Wind Falls, the restaurant is around 500 mts away. There is no working inter-com system for the staff or for the visitors. The care taker needs to be contacted on his cell phone. Lunch and breakfast have to be taken at the restaurant. Dinner can be got through the room service by contacting the care taker. The food seems to be very basic, but served warm and neatly. The rooms are kept neat and tidy, but the walls show ageing and lack of maintenance. The bath rooms are very neat & clean, but the plumbing seems to be really poor. A few taps were leaking, even when a board right above them stated "Save Water". The resort seems to be functioning in an average fashion, but it should be said that the staff were really courteous and friendly. Horsely Hills and Haritha Resort seems to be more suited for a group of passengers, or families who can reach the place on their own. Public transport is very much limited, and there are no other means to even move around the resort premises. * Please note the time when I made the visit. Weather & greenery etc. may depend upon the time of the year.

I stayed in this resort for a night and two days. The room was big with an attached balcony and a big window with the view of the hills but it was not well maintained. Its name was 'Wind Whisperer' The washroom was clean but the fittings were poor. It took us sometime to get the hot water running. The food menu kept in the room had no contact details so it took us some time to figure out how to order. All in all the room was a bit pricey for what it actually offered so chose wisely. I am not asking for grand services but just basic amenities and well maintained rooms should do the trick.

We ll maintained with basic facility, homely atmosphere stayed for 1 night in Wind whistle. People hear are good and helpful. Buffet lunch is good, they provide complimentary breakfast also, just go and enjoy...

Stayed at Harita Resort at Harsley Hills. 550 km drive from Hyderabad, took around 8 hours. Small very small hill station. Don't expect too much as per sightseeing, however best place to just chill and relax. Only resort is APDTC run Harita Resort with multiple option of rooms and cottages.Standard cottages with basic facilities, food is good with local taste. if you are lucky, will experience mist through the day.

Nice location - Nice view. Cottages are nice - maintenance is not bad. Staff could be more courteous and better trained. Bon Fire was good and enjoyed the tribal dance. A good place for a large family outing. Food was mediocre though.

We went as a family of 9 people booking three exec suites. The location is fantastic and the property especially the villas are built very well. But maintainace was bad to say the least. The staff is out to fleece you in the form of suggested bon-fires and tribal dances. The toilets were bad, the common areas were poorly maintained. The chairs were stained...some towels privided were positively dirty.. The staff and some outsiders occupied the badmintion courts meant for guests. This property needs to be privatised asap to realise full potential. What could have been a great cultural experience turned out to be a dud. People will pay for good accomodation, good food and a holistic expereince but when a place is run by cheats what can u expect but...disappointing..having spent over 4000 bucks per room per night...

The resort is good, neatly maintained and had a great view of the valley. But the staffs were not at all professional(I know Telugu very well but still felt that). I felt like its a military home as I was denied tea/coffee after 7PM. Food was not at all upto that price mark. Otherwise the resort is worth its money if you enjoy nature.

I liked this hotel more than the Harita Valley resort based on it's location. Rooms are big with big terrace/balcony. Food was good and complimentary breakfast ( non veg - restricted ) was also OK. Nearby Coffee shop was excellent and a must visit place. Would love to visit again and stay in this resort.

I visited this place at the end of December 2013. - Hotel location is very good. Morning fog is perfect experience in hill station. - Food is pathetic. Outside option for veg lovers are limited. Avoid it. - Room service is below average. you need to ask for water and towel to get it!! Manage your own way! - Had fire camp inside hotel area. People managing it are very supportive. Recommended to go for it. - You get swimming pool, shuttle, big kids play area, closeby car parking.

This hotel location is very scenic. It has simple architecture. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The rooms are spacious however cleanliness maintained is average. Opt for rooms on 2-3 floor for stay to have better view of the valley. Best time to visit is monsoon season when it is lush green (July -Aug). Food at the restaurant is average. You will not get variety of food. However there is a coffee shop at 2 min distance from hotel which serves brewing strong coffee which is grown in Araku. Tribal museum next to hotel is not maintained properly. It hence does not attract visitors. You can get fresh vegetables from near local market on the way to station. Its still a good choice for stay alone or family.
