I went to see Rascal Flatts in concert last night at Rupp Arena in Lexington. While I am not a big country music fan, I like some of it, I like Rascal Flatts and have for a couple of years now. The concert was great. These guys are extremely talented and you can tell they really love what they are doing. It was a great show with pyro, video, and some great suprise songs. It was good to see them bring up a Make-A-Wish child duing their performance of "My Wish". They, of course, played all of their big hits and some of their other songs for their current album. Hotel California and Life Is A Highway were big hits with me as well. Jason Aldean opened for RF and I'll just say that he isn't going to be headlining any tours very soon. He's not much of a singer live, IMO. Has anyone saw these guys in concert? What did you think? I would definitely pay to see them again.
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton

Re: Rascal Flatts: Me and My Gang Tour 2007

My wife has seen them 2 or 3 times and she loves them. Thinks they are great. They are probably her favorites, along with Chris Cagle. I agreed to go see Cagle next weekend in return for her going to 2 Todd Snider shows, and another one in March. Rascal Flatts just isn't my thing. My country tastes are more along the lines of Robert Earl Keen or Shaver.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places. -Todd Snider

My wife and I ended up seeing them in Palm Beach Florida when we were on vacation. I've always liked them, but they're her favorite act. It was her first concert ever, and man, was it awesome! Just like you say, they had amazing effects and all. They really put on a good show. Two other things that were awesome about it: 1) Gary Allan opened for them, and he's my favorite country singer 2) Some dude gave us free tickets when we were walking to the gate. He just said, "Are you guys getting lawn seats?" When we said yeah, he just gave us 2 tickets. I guess his wife wanted a better view. We couldn't believe it. But anyway--yeah Rascal Flatts is awesome in concert. Definitely recommended

I've heard the Rascal Flatts live show is good. But they're one of the artists/groups -- and I don't mean to single them out, because there are many, many examples of this these days -- who owe their careers to vocal tuning (aka pitch correction). It's even used in live shows now. I don't know. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I find I'm liking the older stuff (of whatever genre) more and more. Those songs just sound more real without all the over-production and sterile corrected vocals.

I saw them at "Jammin' on Main" in Cincinnati. I believe it was during the last year or two of the great event as, unfortunately, it's a thing of the past. I liked them, but it's not my favorite type of music so I don't follow them very closely. I would probably not actually pay to attend one of their concerts.

Saw Jason Aldean at the WV Interstate Fair last year and I agree, he is a three hit wonder. Rascal Flatts, I know they are from Columbus, and I know I am going to be bringing out the mob with pitchforks, but they are the country music version of N'Sync. That being said, "Skin" and "I Melt" are probably my two favorite songs by them.

Joe Don Rooney is a multi-talented instrumentalist. Jay DeMarcus is as well. These guys made their living as working musicians (not singing) long before Rascal Flatts hit the big time. Like 'em or hate 'em, people need to give them their due and comparing them to no talent hacks like N'sync isn't doing that.
I've seen them twice, JPup. They've been great both times. It's always great to catch them here in Columbus anyway because it's like a "coming home" party.

Reds Freak is offline

Because they are from Columbus, I think Columbus country radio stations are required to play a Rascal Flatts song every other song. Nothing makes me turn the radio station more than a Rascal Flatts song. Their stuff is okay IMO but I've really just had enough of them. I guess they are just too pop for me anymore much like Keith Urban is nowadays and even some Kenny Chesney stuff. I know nothing is as country as it used to be but in the current era of country I'm more of a fan of guys like Brad Paisley and Josh Turner.

While I am not a big country music fan...I like Rascal Flatts and have for a couple of years now. The short answer: Rascal Flatts are not "Country" music. They are pop music. As for Jason Aldean, I've never seen him live so I can't comment on that, but his CD is outstanding. He is one of my favorite "new" Country musicians.

There are very country to me. Anybody that includes a banjo, a acoustic guitar, a fiddle, etc. are country to me. As far as Jason Aldean, he just can't sing very well IMO. It was literally hurting my ears listening to him. That can't be a good thing. He looked like he was trying to eat the mic the whole time, that couldn't help.

Rascal Flatts Say Goodbye, Announce Farewell Tour

By Jon Freeman

Jon Freeman

Twenty years after they launched their country-music career together, Rascal Flatts are hitting the road for one final tour. The trio of Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney, and Jay DeMarcus made an appearance on CBS This Morning on Tuesday, where they announced dates for the upcoming Farewell: Life Is a Highway Tour.

“When we started out 20 years ago, we could not imagine all of the people, places and gifts we would encounter,” the group tweeted earlier today. “[T]here is no sadness. Just new chapters, new journeys, and new beginnings.”

When we started out 20 years ago, we could not imagine all of the people, places and gifts we would encounter. As we head out on the Rascal Flatts Farewell – Life is A Highway Tour, there is no sadness. Just new chapters, new journeys, and new beginnings. pic.twitter.com/IL7Rnw1pv1 — Rascal Flatts (@rascalflatts) January 7, 2020

Launching June 11th in Indianapolis, the Farewell: Life Is a Highway Tour currently has 25 dates scheduled across North America, including stops in Boston, San Diego, Toronto, and Dallas. Notably, there is not a Nashville date in the present itinerary, but the trek does begin the week following CMA Fest 2020, so there’s a possibility Rascal Flatts will get to go out in style onstage at Nissan Stadium.

The members of Rascal Flatts mentioned the yearly grind of trying to top oneself in a hyper-competitive and changing radio environment as part of the reason to exit on their own terms. Still, they didn’t rule out the possibility of reuniting to make music at some point.

“We’re not going to sign some pact that says we’re never going to tour again… and Joe Don is going to need a job — he can’t even afford fingers,” said DeMarcus on CBS This Morning , poking fun at his bandmate’s fingerless gloves.

Since announcing their arrival in 2000 with their self-titled debut album and the single “Prayin’ for Daylight,” Rascal Flatts have notched country airplay Number Ones in the double digits, including “Bless the Broken Road,” “What Hurts the Most,” and “Here Comes Goodbye.” They’ve also sold more than 20 million albums, including the back-to-back multi-platinum blockbusters Feels Like Today and Me and My Gang . They also took their fair share of criticism for their polished, pop-and-rock-friendly sound, which nonetheless proved to be hugely influential for Taylor Swift, Dan + Shay, and numerous others who followed. Their most recent album was 2017’s  Back to Us.

Tour Opening Act

«Something really crazy started to happen. I was opening up for every single country headliner imaginable. I was opening up for Brad Paisley, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw. Like, all these people that I'd always wanted to open up shows for. I was a nervous wreck. I rehearsed non-stop, over and over again. And I loved it. Those were some of my favorite times.» Taylor Swift

Table of Contents

Rascal flatts: me and my gang tour (2006-2007).

«Rascal Flatts just had the perfect audience for me. I have so many young girls who are into my music and I was really wondering how it would be translated into a more traditional country audience. And it's just been unbelievable. It's really exciting to see that my music can apply to literally all walks of life.» Taylor Swift

Kenny Chesney: The Opening Slot That Wasn't (2006)

«It was for more money than I’d ever seen in my life. I was able to pay my band bonuses. I was able to pay for my tour buses. I was able to fuel my dreams.» Taylor Swift

George Strait's Tour (2007)

«It's crazy to think that a year ago, I was sitting in high school and now I'm on tour with George Strait. Playing for so many people a night, that's such an honor. The stage for his shows is really awesome 'cause there's four sides to it. So I get to work like four crowds every night. It's really, really exciting! When you're singing you can hear the echo of the people in the audience singing every single word with you and that was that big dream that I had for myself. It's happening.» Taylor Swift

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill: Soul2Soul II Tour (2007)

«Taylor proved that she has what it takes to be a real artist in country music and why her fans love her so. It was a thrill to have her on the 'Soul2Soul Tour.' She was professional, prepared, gracious, and most of all, gifted. The real deal.» Faith Hill

Brad Paisley: Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour (2008)

«Brad treats his opening acts like they're just on the same level as he is. I mean, he bought us presents and he'll come and talk to us. It's very cool to be on tour with somebody who's that down to earth. It's really a blessing to be on tour with somebody who just doesn't think that they're all that and who will just come to your bus and be like, 'Hey, how do you do today?'» Taylor Swift

Keith Urban: Escape Together World Tour (2009)

«She was a blast on the road. People have asked me, 'Could you sense that she was going to be who she became?' And I was like, 'I think everybody knew that.' You could see it clearly. She was playing way past where she was. She was way into the future. You could tell.» Keith Urban
