How to Get a DFA Appointment?

There are actually different ways that I’ve learned where you can get a DFA appointment. Below is a list of them. PASSPORT DFA APPOINTMENTS ARE FREE!

Online Appointment – this is what we recommend for 2018! Access the new DFA online appointment setting system for a DFA passport renewal or new applications. PLEASE DO IT YOURSELF and DON’T PAY A TRAVEL AGENCY TO DO IT FOR YOU! IT’S FREE!

Appointment in the Province. I suggest you prepare the necessary requirements before doing this. After that, you may access the DFA online appointment system and start filling out the necessary details which will be shown in the step-by-step guide in the following subject within this article.

Walk-in appointment.   The norm in setting a DFA appointment would mean having to wait long lines since it’s on a first-come, first-serve basis.  You must also pay a fee for the professional skill in setting up a schedule for your DFA passport appointment contributed by the person assigned to do that job in DFA offices.

NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED for t he list mentioned below can go to the Passport Courtesy Lane without any prior appointment:

• Senior citizens (60 years and over) plus one (1) travel companion
• Minors seven (7) years old and below (with their parents and minor siblings)
• People with disabilities (PWDs) with PWD ID or visible disability plus one (1) travel companion
• Single parents (with Solo Parent ID) and their minor children
• Visibly pregnant women or with a medical certificate

MY PASSPORT IS EXPIRED – What should I do?

Back then, I was worried because I thought that if my DFA passport expired, this would mean I would have to get a new one and go back to the basics to accomplish all of the requirements and get it issued again. However, as I read the official website of the DFA , I didn’t need to get a new one at all, I only needed to renew it unless it is lost .

Since I want to speed things up because I want to travel in three (3) months time, I opted for the DFA Online Appointment System, since it was faster, more convenient, and you could just do it at home without having to wait in long lines just to get it done.

If you want to know how this new DFA online appointment system is done, then follow this step-by-step guide to start.

Step 1. Click the link  and read the Terms and Conditions. Mark the checkbox once you’ve read everything and choose whether to apply for an individual appointment or group appointment with either your friends or family.

Step 2. Find the nearest DFA Regional office nearest to your current address – from Region, Country, and Site. Once you choose the site, it will locate the nearest DFA office where you can schedule your appointment.

Step 3. Choose your most convenient schedule to set a DFA appointment for the renewal of  your Philippine passport. Set the month, day, and then check for the available time left. Compare your personal daily schedule. After that, mark the time that would suit your availability and press next.

Step 4. Be careful when inputting your personal info to avoid delays in your appointment and even your processing!

Step 5. Fill in your family information – your father’s name and your mother’s maiden name. Note, the suffixes for your father and mother’s names are to be placed along with their first names.

Step 6. Choose your application type if it’s either new or renewal. Fill in your emergency contact person and their contact number. (Your mother, father, sibling, your spouse, or your legal guardian!)

Step 7. Fill in your complete address and even your office address. Note that sections with asterisks are considered very important, so fill them out. Click next after.

Step 8. Mark the checkboxes after verifying everything. Confirm to get your appointment code and print your DFA appointment schedule. (Note: the data you input to the page won’t be disclosed to a third party)

Step 9. Check your email for any messages and click it to view your DFA appointment code .

Step 10.   This is what the message looks like. Click the highlighted word “here” to confirm and open another page where you can find the next picture,

Step 11. Write down the DFA appointment code and your email address for further verification.

Step 12.   After that, download your application form and settle your payment.

Once these are all done, download the file and print your DFA passport appointment. After, print your DFA appointment schedule, your application form, and bring your requirements to your local DFA regional office on the scheduled date of your appointment.

What are the requirements for your Philippines Passport Renewal?

• Most recent expiring or expired passport
• Valid picture IDs and supporting documents to prove your identity.

LIST OF ACCEPTABLE IDS (ANY OF THE FOLLOWING WITH ONE (1) PHOTOCOPY):

• Social Security System (SSS)/ Government Service Insurance System(GSIS) Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID)Card

• Persons with Disabilities (PWD) ID
• School ID (for students)
• Current Valid ePassport (For Renewal of ePassport)
• For applicants based overseas, they may use their host government-issued IDs showing their Philippine citizenship. (Example: Residence Card)

Usually isa lang valid ID okay na po plus other main requirements like PSA Birth Certificate, etc.

TIN IDs are not valid IDS accepted by the DFA, try po yung Postal ID ( Valid Philippines ID Guide – How to Apply for a Philippine Postal ID ) or Driver’s License. If PWD, you can submit a PWD ID po.

if may copy ka sa nawalang passport (especially the biopage), you can skip your PSA Birth Certificate. However, kailangan ng police report, affidavit of loss (original and photocopy).

no photo needed as you’ll get your photo taken there. I think isang ID lang needed, dapat din pareho – if maiden name, dapat lahat documents maiden name, if married, dapat valid id married. Di na kailangan ng marriage certificate in case maiden name is used.

Actually did that – mistakenly put my address instead of Birth Place. You can proceed to the appointment but tell the officer that you have a mistake in your birthplace, they’ll ask you to double-check it before printing.

You need to go to the DFA office but this time, you need to apply as a new passport.

You’ll need to have an affidavit in case you don’t have your old passport. It’ll be like applying for a new one po.

A TIN ID is not a valid ID due to it being easily manipulated (you can paste a picture and print a name). It’s better to have a UMID ID or Driver’s license.

You have to make a personal appearance and of course, schedule an appointment for your passport application. pero bago yan, dapat kumpletuhin mo ang mga requirements. Strikto sila ngayon. Ilang beses na akong nakakuha ng slots this year for my family last January and now April. Lahat yun a week before the appointment. I can get earlier pa dun. My advice sa mga gustong makakuha ng slot is to check their website regularly. And ito ang dapat nyong abangan:

1. Cancelled/Rescheduled appointment – nag oopen ang slot kapag may nagcancel or nagparesched ng appointment nila. Random ito at kahit saang location. Kaya dapat lahat ng location icheck nyo rin (if kailangang kailangan nyo na ng passport). My advice is to check for it during waking hours (kung kelan tayo gising at may time para magcancel/resched ng appointment). Tingin nyo kung kayo ang magccancel ng appointment mga anong oras kaya? Paunahan nalang sa pagpapasched kasi paisa isa lang ito.

2. Mass slots from DFA – nagoopen ng maraming slots ang DFA randomly. Nakatsempo ako this January, lahat ng location may available na slots for the month of Jan-June. 11pm onwards ako nagcheck. Hindi sabay sabay na nag oopen yung slots sa lahat ng location (pdeng Aseana muna, then after several mins. sa Manila nmn etc). And then today April 4 11 pm onwards, nag-open sila ng slots for the month of April(10-30), lahat din ng oras open sa lahat ng site location nila. Madalas kong icheck ang website nila (to outwit them), kaya masasabi kong random day ito. My advice is lagi nyong icheck ang website nila, around 11pm-3am (based on my experience). AND!! pag natsempuhan nyong may isang location na maraming open na slot for the same month, wag na kayong umalis sa website nila. haha. the following mins. or hour mag oopen na rin ang ibang location. tyaga lang po kung gusto nyong makakuha ng maaga at malapit na slot sa location nyo. di nyo na po kailangang gumastos tyaga lang po talaga.

Additional advice, pag may nakita kayong slot kunin nyo na (be sure na makakapunta kayo sa day na yun) kahit medyo malayo yung lugar pero willing kayong puntahan o kaya nmn matagal pa yung date. KUNIN NIYO NA. mas ok na may slot na kayo kesa sa wala. Then, before your appointment mag abang kayo ng mas maaga or mas malapit na location at ireschedule nyo na lang appointment nyo. Make sure to confirm it on your email.

Personally, it was really hard to look for available slots as every night and morning, you need to check the DFA website if they release green slots. Good thing, I am working in a BPO so I am widely awake. As far as I know, confirmed appointment is the most needed in starting the process. Hopefully, you’ll have it on time, Madam. Philippines travel requirements 2024: What travelers need to know

We aim to keep this post updated about Philippines travel in 2024 with official Philippines travel restrictions, requirements, and health and safety guidance. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions so you can travel confidently, safely, and responsibly in this new post-pandemic world of ours.

As restrictions can vary based on the traveler’s citizenship, we will focus primarily on rules affecting U.S. citizens.

February 2024:  “Our main requirement for travel to the Philippines was completing an online form within 72 hours of arriving. Our airline reminded us to do the same process before departing the Philippines as well. The form asks for flight info, countries visited in the last 30 days, and whether you have been sick or exposed to someone ‘known to have communicable/infectious disease’ in the past 30 days. We then received a QR code to show at the airport. We did not need to show the QR code upon arrival or departure (airline staff told me it’s actually for Philippine passport holders only). Overall tourism was open and accessible within the country, flights between islands were the easiest, with long overland travel times (due to local-roads / lack of highways). We did not experience any travel restrictions while within the country. There is a pre-arrival form that must be filled out that is used for tracing but really we didn’t find it used much beyond immigration. There were requirements for providing hotels for contact tracing but it was haphazardly enforced, such as only 1 bus company asked for this information. Access to all services is open, we did notice that for many services employees were masked but there was no requirement for tourists to mask. We found covid tests readily accessible and often in vending machines such as in the airport. One thing of note is that people did appear to be sick. Is the Philippines open for travel? Can I travel to the Philippines right now?

Effective July 2023 , all travelers are allowed entry in the Philippines without restrictions. The following are no longer required to enter the Philippines:

• Proof of Vaccination
• Proof of negative Covid test (for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers)
• Travel insurance

However, travelers must still meet the following requirements:

• As of April 2023, all travelers, including children. are required to register via the Electronic Travel Declaration System no earlier than 72 hours from the intended arrival.
• Passport must be valid for at least six months at the time of arrival.
• Have booked a return or outbound ticket (affiliate link).

U.S. citizens are allowed visa-free entry into the Philippines for 30 days.

Quarantine rules in the Philippines: What happens if I get Covid?

All travelers arriving in the Philippines are not required to quarantine.

Foreign tourists who  test positive for Covid while in the Philippines must continue to isolate and undergo quarantine.

For cases with moderate to severe symptoms or belonging to the immunocompromised category, isolation of 10 days from onset of signs and symptoms is required. Patient may be required to be admitted to a health care facility based on the advice of the attending physician.

For severe cases and immunocompromised cases , isolation is required and may end only upon the advice of their health care provider.

Patients with mild symptoms or asymptomatic are advised to isolate at home for five days or until fever-free for at least 24 hours without using antipyretics such as paracetamol, whichever is earlier.

Foreign tourists may be required to cover the costs of quarantine accommodations or hospitalization.

What is it like to fly to Manila MNL Ninoy Aquino International Airport right now? Philippine Airlines reports p assengers are no longer required to wear face masks, though it is still recommended.

Do I have to quarantine when traveling to the Philippines? No. Only travelers who test positive will need to quarantine. See details above.

Does Philippines check COVID-19 symptoms of incoming travelers? Travelers undergo a passive thermal scan upon arrival in the airport. Hats must be removed, otherwise just walk through.

Does Philippines require a negative Covid 19 test for travelers? No. As of July 2023, a negative test is no longer required for travelers to enter the Philippines.

Do I have to undergo a Covid test upon arrival in the Philippines? No. Covid test upon arrival is no longer required.

Does Philippines require a proof of Coronavirus vaccine for travelers? No. A proof of Coronavirus vaccine is no longer required.

Do I still need to provide a negative Covid test or quarantine if I have been vaccinated? Quarantine and negative Covid test is no longer required for travelers.

Is a booster shot required for travel to the Philippines? At this time, booster shots are not required in the Philippines. There is currently no expiration period set for the validity of vaccinations.

Do I need to provide proof of vaccination or test for domestic flights in the Philippines? Most destinations within the Philippines no longer require a proof of vaccination or test for domestic flights.

However, local authorities may have specific requirements. It is recommended to check with the destination’s local government unit (LGU) through their official website or Facebook page for the latest rules and guidelines.

What healthcare options are available to travelers in the Philippines who get the virus?   Philippine hospitals and clinics are open. Foreign visitors can get PCR or antigen test at  the Philippines Department Of Health accredited testing centers .

Foreign visitors who get the virus would pay out of pocket for medical services. The medical expenses for the treatment will vary depending on the severity of the condition, the hospital where the patient is admitted, confinement duration, and other factors.

What service businesses and restaurants are open in the Philippines? Markets and groceries, which are considered essential businesses, remained open throughout the duration of the community quarantine in the Philippines.

Restaurants are permitted to accept dine-ins. Malls, personal care services, and entertainment establishments are also back in business following health and safety protocols.

More hotels, resorts, and other accommodation establishments are allowed to operate under different community quarantine classifications and cater to local travelers.

Do I need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter or stay at hotels, resorts, and other accommodation establishments in the Philippines? Most accommodation establishments in the Philippines no longer require a proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test.

It is advisable to visit the hotel website or official social media pages to know their latest guidelines. Additionally, contacting the establishment directly is recommended for any clarifications.

What public gatherings are allowed in Philippines? Public gatherings are allowed but must follow health and safety protocols.

Are face masks required in the Philippines? As of July 2023 , wearing of face masks is no longer required in the Philippines.

Are buses running in the Philippines? Yes. Public transportation is available in the Philippines, including buses, jeepneys, trains, tricycles, and vans. Ride-hailing services are also available.

Will the Philippines impose new Covid restrictions? What’s next is difficult to predict. Historically, the Philippines has imposed nationwide as well as localized COVID-19 restrictions when strains on the health care system might become unsustainable.

How has the Coronavirus impacted the Philippines?

The first case of the Coronavirus was confirmed in the Philippines January 30, 2020 and the country was placed under a State of Public Health Emergency on March 8, 2020.

As a measure to limit the spread of the virus, lockdowns or community quarantines have been imposed since March 15, 2020. Despite implementing strict lockdowns, the country still experienced surges in cases, reporting more confirmed cases and deaths than any other Southeast Asian country.

The onslaught of the virus put the country into recession with mass unemployment. The restriction on travel also affected tourism, which is a large industry in the country. 

Over two thirds of the population has been vaccinated in the Philippines.

In July 2023, the State of Public Health Emergency has been lifted throughout the Philippines. All restrictions due to Covid 19 are no longer in effect.

What should you pack for safely traveling in the Philippines?

November 2023 – Gladis of Happiness on the Way , Filipina citizen:  “I flew from Frankfurt to Clark International Airport (Philippines) in September and was surprised by the low number of tourists. I’ve traveled around Clark and Manila for a month and most of the businesses like cafes, restaurants and even tours are all back – I love how I was able to see famous spots with less tourists!

Healthcare, testing, and local attractions are fully operational in most cities and touristy towns. Hotels and restaurants provide sanitizers, and staff are vaccinated with open-air setups. Airports in the Philippines have synchronized e-travel for smoother lines. Most popular destinations have maximum tourists now, so booking ahead is advisable to secure your spot.”

June 2023 – Liza of Always in Spain : “I’m in the Philippines for one month (May to June 2023) to visit family and travel around the country.

Tourism in the Philippines is thriving again! Tourist attractions are open without restrictions, tour operators are offering services again, and transportation (air & land) look fully open for domestic travel so it’s easy to get around the country.

Aside from having to complete a declaration upon arrival, things are back to normal in the Philippines. Some people still prefer to mask up (especially indoors) but it’s not obligatory.

Pharmacies are plentiful in the large cities so you have easy access to home testing kits and over-the-counter medication if you need it. If you’re traveling to more remote areas, it’s a good idea to have your own emergency medical kit just in case.”

February 2023 – Kieren of Wales Guidebook , UK traveler:  “My girlfriend and I visited the Philippines for 10 days in February 2023 with a return trip from Bali. Tourism in the Philippines is mostly back to normal. Aside from being asked to wear masks at airports and onboard with some airlines, there were no other Covid requirements or restrictions and I can highly recommend visiting at this time.

Although signage regarding Covid restrictions (such as mask wearing) are still on display across the country, these are rarely enforced. You may still see staff wearing masks in supermarkets and shopping malls. Pharmacies are readily available in most areas frequented by tourists and the level of English is usually enough to get any medicine you need. Chain pharmacies, such as Watsons, are more likely to speak a good level of English.”

October 2022 – Jennifer Terri, Philippines:

September 2022 – Elizabeth, visitor from UK:   “I visited the Philippines for a 3-week trip to explore its top destinations. The locals are still wearing masks, however, it’s a bit more relaxed, especially in the open public area. When you enter an establishment, you will be asked or expected to put on the mask.

Most businesses related to tourism are open or in service such as airlines, hotels, and tour agencies. Locals seems to be getting back on travelling as well, but it seems like the airlines are not well-staffed resulting in long queues, although very little delay.”

July 2022 – Angeline of GoAroundPhilippines.com , resident:  “All tourist destinations in the country are open and locals mostly enjoy them now. It is the best time to visit as there are still few tourists around and you can easily get cheaper rates for hotels and tours as companies need tourists.

The islands and beaches have gone through a bit of a break so they’ve become more vibrant and marine animals are plenty. There are still no long lines or crowds either.”

March 2022 – Camille, resident of the Philippines: “Things are finally the closest it’s been to “back to normal” after two long years of strict quarantine rules. Everything feels much more relaxed and people are happy to go out, dine out, party, and travel. Even though it feels like back to normal, most people still comply with wearing masks almost everywhere so this is something foreigners should expect and be sensitive in following.

Many places still are at limited capacity though, so lines are long and crowds can be packed. As much as possible, we appreciate it when tourists are understanding of any delays or mishaps. There’s a period of adjustment since it’s only been recently that things are as they were before. Many workers have been affected and are now happy to get back to work, so patience and tips are appreciated. At the end of the day, tourism has always played a big part in our economy so you’ll definitely feel welcome.”

July 2021 – Ailene, resident of Manila: “The Philippines does not currently allow tourists to enter the country. Majority of the residents are hesitant to the reopening of the borders to foreign tourists because of the fear that our healthcare system would collapse if there will be a surge in Covid cases. In Metro Manila, people (except children and senior citizens) are free to move within the city as long as the curfew, social distancing, face mask, and face shield rules are observed. Traveling to other places outside Metro Manila is also possible. Travel restrictions are generally being followed. However, there were some instances when people were caught violating the rules such as faking their Covid results, partying, and not following the curfew. Access to healthcare is a little difficult. In some hospitals and clinics, patients without an appointment will not be allowed to enter. But virtual consultation is also available. Getting tested for Covid is easier. People have an option to get tested at clinics, hospitals, drive through testing centers, or at home. Access to local attractions is possible as long as the needed requirements are provided. A negative Covid test is required in some destinations, while a health certificate is enough for some. Right now, the safest and preferred places to travel to are private resorts and outdoor open areas like parks and beaches where interaction with other people can be avoided as much as possible. Restaurants, groceries, and other food service can be accessed easily. Although public transportation is available for travelers, it is safer to travel in private vehicles.”

June 2021 – Tina of https://iwentanyways.com , resident of Philippines: “Many provinces in the country are not yet open to tourism, and those that are already open have requirements that need to be followed. Locals have varying reaction to their place opening up to tourists. Some support the opening due to financial reasons, while those that are not in favor are concerned that these tourists might spread the virus in their place. Travel restrictions are being followed by locals and visitors, but I’ve heard of stories of some people who do not follow it but are able to get away with it. As for the healthcare and testing, most of the hospitals and testing centers are available in the capital cities. Some provinces that have opened for tourism require visitors to register in an app and wait for the approval of their visit before they could travel. This is required for contact tracing purposes.”

We have booked a trip to the Philippines next month. We have not been vaccinated for covid19, Earlier it was mentioned that we had to take a corona test to enter the philippines. Hello, I’m a little confused on one issue. I’m a US citizen unvaccinated and would like to fly to the Philippines. I know what tests, etc I need to actually fly to the philippines, but what is not clear to me based on conflicting information is will I be required to take another covid test on arrival if the 24 hour one taken before flight was negative? One thing I don’t want to happen is discover I have to have another one when I arrive as I really hate them since they are so unnecessarily intrusive, and I’ve read some places that you will need a second one on arrival regardless of the results of the preflight test. According to the current entry rules , unvaccinated or partially vaccinated “travelers 15 years and older who fail to present a negative pre-departure testing shall be required to undergo a laboratory-based Antigen Test UPON ARRIVAL at the airport.” Therefore, if you can provide a valid and negative pre-departure Covid test when you arrive in the Philippines, then you will no longer have to test upon arrival at the airport.

Is a negative COVID test result required for return travel from the Philippines to the United States?

Hi. Regardless of departure point, test results are not required going to the US, and as of this month (May 2023), noncitizen nonimmigrant air passengers no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated either.

I am traveling to the Philippines in July 2023. I see that the Philippines currently still requires a negative Antigen Test for entry. Once a traveler has entered the country and wants to travel to different locations (such as Tacloban, Cebu City, Bohol, etc.) does a traveler have to provide a clean test at every domestic airport in the Philippines to board the plane if I stayed at each different location for 3-5 days? I need clarification as the domestic air carriers (Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, etc.) indicate that you need at least a negative Antigen Test to board on their websites. Hi Greg. It is correct that the Philippines still require proof of a negative COVID test for entry if a traveler is unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. For travel within the Philippines, most destination no longer require a negative test for domestic flights. However, please note that some destination may still require a negative test and other documents for domestic travel depending on the local authorities’ regulations. For travel to Japan, you will need to provide a pre-travel COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the country/region of origin. You may check the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs webpage or the U.S. Embassy in Japan webpage for details.

For travel to the Philippines, you will need the follwing: – negative Antigen test certificate from a clinic conducted within 24 hours of departure from the country of origin – complete a BOQ e-Health Declaration Card (e-HDC), including children – passport valid for at least six months at the time of arrival – return or outbound ticket to your country of origin or next country of destination.

Hi Isabel. Thanks for visiting our blog! The current restriction states that foreign nationals (including Balikbayans) visiting the Philippines without a visa must be vaccinated. Unfortunately, you won’t be allowed entry into the Philippines based on the current rules. The same goes for your 4-year-old son since he will follow the rules that are applicable to you. However, if you will enter the Philippines with a visa or if you have double citizenship (Filipino and American) then it’s possible that you and your son may be allowed entry. We recommend that you contact or visit the Philippine Embassy in your area to see if there are any exemptions applicable to you that will allow you to visit the Philippines. Hope this helps.

Thus, the need for a valid return ticket to your country of origin or your next destination dated not more than 30 days from the date of arrival in the Philippines. If you want to stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days, you will need to apply for a Philippine tourist visa. You need to contact the Philippine Embassy or Consulate near you for information on how to apply for a Philippine tourist visa. I hope this helps.

According to the Philippine’s quarantine rules, children below the age of 12 who cannot be vaccinated must follow the quarantine protocols of the parents traveling with them. Since you and your husband are fully vaccinated and do not need to quarantine, your son is not required to quarantine as well. You may also contact the Philippine Bureau of Immigration for more information regarding entry requirements.

At the hotel do we have full access to its facilities such as swimming pool etc if open, or are we “imprisioned” in our rooms for the duration?

Post-Quarantine Travel in the Locale Are there any restrictions for “ALL” in moving around the locale to say attend golf courses if open, and can we travel by public transport. Are there any “AGE” restrictions as we are seniors, although the exact ages are a “closely guarded secret”!

Travel to Provences On arrival into Manila can we “immediately” transfer to the domestic airport for travel to the Provences for quarantine, or do we have to quarantine in Manila before moving on?

Fully vaccinated foreign travellers who have been in a green list country for at least 14 days are allowed to enter the Philippines without any problems as long as they quarantine 7 days in an approved facility, right? So for me who live in Italy, the only way I can currently access the Philippines would be to travel to Albania (green list country) right after I get my second dose, stay there 2 weeks and then fly from Albania to the Philippines.

The Philippines’ green lane was created to lessen the quarantine period of fully vaccinated individuals who are allowed to enter in the Philippines. Therefore, it is important to determine first if you belong to any of the traveler categories who can enter the Philippines. For foreign citizens, you must have a valid and existing Philippine visa. If without a visa, you must be a former Filipino or a family member traveling with a former Filipino. You can check the complete details of who can enter the Philippines here .

If you are one of those travelers who are allowed to enter, fully vaccinated, and traveling from Albania or any of the countries in the Philippines’ green list, the quarantine period would only be 7 days.

Hello Cristina! Based on the current Philippine travel rules, a booster is no longer required for entry, therefore, you no longer need to provide a negative Covid test. However, you need to register on the Philippines eTravel website and you can register up to three days in advance of your departure. For Boracay, a filled out tourist arrival form, hotel booking, and passport for foreign tourists are required. I would double-check with the Canadian State Department and/or a travel agent for more specific guidance. It’s my understanding that the age group restrictions don’t apply for entering the country but rather for going out and about once there – so far this has only been relevant to Philippine residents and will likely change with local vaccination rates eventually.

Travelers flying in directly to Cebu don’t have to quarantine at the hotel, provided that they receive a negative test result conducted immediately upon arrival at the airport. Please note that this is applicable only to permitted foreign nationals. Also, as of today, only US citizens with visa, US citizens who are former Filipinos, and US citizens who are family members and traveling with a Filipino citizen or former Filipino are allowed entry in the Philippines. i don’t know how accurate your info is as i work with a filipino here in the US and he watches Philip news online and told me that if you fly into Cebu which is where i go not Manila that you get a temp check at the airport and only have to quarantine for 1 day not 14 like u said, also can you answer this question. Hi Will. As a general rule, a mandatory quarantine of 7-14 days is required for persons traveling to the Philippines. In the Province of Cebu, it is true that quarantine is no longer a requirement as of March 31, 2021. However, this is only for repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and returning non-OFWs. You can visit the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office page for more information about this.

Hi Cher. Yes, you still need a confirmed booking at any accredited quarantine hotel in Metro Manila for at least 7 days (or 6 nights) from the date of your arrival. This is to accommodate the schedule of your RT-PCR test (which will be on the 5th day) and the release of the result. Your food during your stay at the hotel will be at your own expense. You may also have food from outside the hotel delivered to your room, but you need to check with the rules and regulations of the hotel first if it is allowed.

If one has had a coronavirus vaccine in the US, can one come to the Philippines without the need to quarantine and have the Covid test? I should have my second round of the Moderna vaccine on March 4th. Could I travel to the Philippines shortly after that time if I have a card proving that I had the vaccine?

That is a good question and I think many are wondering the same thing about other destinations as well. We can’t predict when the Philippines will reopen to travelers, nor what they will choose to require in terms of vaccines. From what I’ve read, I would guess that most destinations will continue to require a Covid test regardless of the vaccine since the timeline for immunity after vaccination is still uncertain.

Hi Ricardo. We cannot predict if you’ll be able to fly into Manila at that time. What we personally are doing is making sure any flight we book is fully refundable, or can at least be changed to a later date without change fees if travel is not allowed for our original flight date. This will depend on the particular airline’s terms and conditions.

Do you know when is the date or anything that the Philippine government is gonna let foreigners for tourism cause I’ve been planning this trip for a year and its getting the people so angry that we cant go to the Philippines and nobody can give me a straight up answer.

Covid is spreading rapidly and nobody is vaccinated there stay home and keep you and the Philippines safer

The Philippines has no intention of opening up to tourism any time soon. The president has said that when the country is between 70 to 80 percent vaccinated it will reopen the country it currently is at 19%. So if you want to take a vacation start thinking of an alternative destination or your going to be waiting for at least a year.

In general, passport renewal is much easier than applying for the first time. But is the renewal process still the same during the pandemic?

We recently renewed our passports, and based on our experience, it’s pretty much the same. Understandably strict implementation of safety protocols are observed and the office hours and daily capacity have been adjusted to ensure proper social distancing. But other than that, not much has changed.

Welcome to our step-by-step guide to DFA PASSPORT RENEWAL. In this post, we’ll share with you the requirements you need to prepare, the steps you need to take, and some additional reminders and tips you might want to remember. Again, this is for RENEWAL. WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

LIST OF PHILIPPINE PASSPORT RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

These are the requirements for the REGULAR passport renewal:

1. Online Appointment Confirmation

You need to secure your slot by setting an appointment on the official website .

If you can, do it months before your desired travel date to give you enough lead time. Due to the large volume of applications, slots fill up fast. We’ll discuss this further in the HOW-TO section below.

2. Duly Accomplished Form

During the appointment process, you’ll be asked to fill out the application form so you don’t need to do this again. A link to your accomplished form will be sent to you via email and all you need to do is download and print it out (along with other attached documents).

But if, for whatever reason, you need a blank copy of the application form, you can get it here . You need to print it out on A4 size paper.

3. Current passport with photocopy of bio page

Aside from the original copy of your current passport, you must also submit a photocopy of the bio page.

Usually, there are photocopy machines at the DFA center and photocopying services around the area. Just to be sure, have it photocopied before your appointment schedule to avoid delays and wasting time.

4. Personal Appearance

All applicants must be physically present at the DFA Office on your appointment schedule.

The renewal process entails collecting your biometrics data and taking a photo of you. For passport photo capturing, take note of the proper attire or dress code. Colored contact lenses and accessories like earrings, necklaces, or other facial piercings are not allowed during photo capturing.

POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

DFA announced that birth certificates for passport renewals are no longer required, BUT there are some exceptions. You still need to present your birth certificate if:

• You lost or damaged your current passport.
• You are holding old brown or green passport with no complete middle name.
• You are making changes in your personal information.
• You are included in the DFA watchlist.

Depending on your status or your current passport’s condition, here are other possible additional requirements for passport renewal:

If you’re holding a non-ePassport

If you’re holding a non-ePassport , provide the following:

• original current passport
• photocopy of the bio or date page
• valid ID and a photocopy ( See list of acceptable IDs in the FAQ section below)

Note that not all passports are ePassports. An ePassport has an integrated circuit chip or microchip where the biometrics data are stored. The DFA only started issuing ePassports in 2009. How to know whether you have an e-Passport or a non-ePassport? Here’s how to distinguish:

• ePassport: There is a chip sign or icon at the bottom portion of your passport’s front cover.
• Non-ePassport: It may be brown, green, machine readable passports (maroon), or any older passports. It doesn’t have the chip sign or icon on your passport front cover.

If your name has changed

Additional documents to prove and support the name change must be provided. Depending on your situation, these are the documents needed. Note that these must be PSA-authenticated.

• Marriage Contract
• Annotated Birth Certificate
• Annotated Marriage Contract to show annulment/divorce/court ordered instruction
• Death Certificate of Spouse

NOTE: You do not need to present your Marriage Contract if you recently married but you chose to keep your maiden name.

You might also need an NBI Clearance ONLY IF the marriage took place within 6 months before the date of passport application. This is according to the DFA Facebook page when we inquired.

If the applicant is a minor

For minor applicants or those applying for a minor, these are the additional requirements:

• Proof of affiliation and/or guardianship with one (1) photocopy. If you are presenting the minor’s Birth Certificate as proof, it must be PSA-authenticated. Provide the original birth certificate printed on PSA security paper and a clear photocopy. If the PSA-authenticated Birth Certificate is not readable, get a copy from the Local Civil Registrar.
• School ID (if applicable)
• Valid Government-issued ID of either parent with one (1) photocopy. See list of accepted IDs in the FAQ section below.

IMPORTANT! Personal Appearance of both the minor applicant AND either parent (or authorized adult companion) is mandatory.

• If only one parent is accompanying the minor , Marriage Certificate must be presented. If the parents are unmarried, the Mother must execute a Special Power of Attorney if she is not accompanying her child. Special Power of Attorney executed outside the Philippines must be authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in that foreign country.
• If either parent can’t accompany the child for the application , a Special Power of Attorney must be executed by the parent to designate and authorize someone else to accompany and help the child through the application process. A copy of parent/s valid ID and/or passport attached to the Special Power of Attorney or Affidavit of Support and Consent. The authorized adult companion must present his/her Passport or Valid Government-issued ID. See the list of acceptable IDs above.
• If either parent is not traveling with the minor , DSWD Clearance and Affidavit of Support and Consent must be submitted. Affidavit executed outside the Philippines must be consularized by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in that foreign country. The authorized adult companion must present his/her Passport or Valid Government-issued ID. See the list of acceptable IDs above.

NOTE: Before the pandemic, minors aged seven (7) and below don’t need to secure an online appointment. They could just walk in and use the courtesy lane. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic health emergency, all courtesy lane service is strictly by appointment only.

Visit the DFA Consular website if you have other specific concerns and inquiries (no birth certificate, illegitimate child, etc.)

If your current passport is lost or damaged

Whether it’s an ePassport or non-ePassport, the process is the same for damaged or lost passport — NEW APPLICATION.

Therefore, you need to submit the requirements for a new passport application rather than the requirements for the passport renewal application. Check the list of requirements here: New Application Requirements!

But wait! On top of the requirements for new passport application, you need to provide the following:

NOTES: If you lost your passport but were able to save a photocopy of it, you don’t need to present your birth certificate anymore, but make sure you bring that photocopy with you.

Visit the DFA Consular website or contact the DFA directly if you have other specific concerns and inquiries.

STEP-BY-STEP PHILIPPINE PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESS

1. schedule an appointment online..

Walk-in applicants are normally not allowed EXCEPT for emergency and special cases. Regular and non-emergency applicants must secure their slots by setting an online appointment.

As much as possible, do it months before your desired travel date to give you enough lead time. Nowadays, if you try to secure an online appointment, the earliest available slot is more or less two months away. To give you an idea, say you decide to get an appointment in November, the earliest available slot might be in December, or if you’re unlucky, January.

But if you’re really unlucky, there may be no more slots available. In this case, you can either wait and try again another day or find an available slot in another DFA site.

How to set an appointment online?

• Visit the DFA Online Passport Appointment System website .
• Read the Terms and Conditions, and then tick the box . This means that you have understood the terms.
• There are two options: INDIVIDUAL Appointment and GROUP Appointment. Choose the one that’s applicable to you.
• Choose a DFA office/branch. Select the one nearest you or the one most convenient for you. Later on, you can change it and check other branches if you are having a hard time securing a slot with your first choice. Hit the Next button.
• Select a date and time from the provided calendar. The earliest open date is noted above the calendar. The dates in GREEN are AVAILABLE, while those in RED are FULL.

The most challenging and frustrating part is finding an available slot. There are just a lot of applications per day and slots are quickly filled. The DFA has taken steps to improve the system to serve applicants better, but it can still take a lot of attempts to finally find availability. You may check other branches or try again later.

You may also try some of these tips:

• Ensure that you have strong internet connection. When slots become available, they are snatched easily by other applicants. They will not wait for your network to keep up.
• List down all your preferred dates. This will give you more options in case the date you originally want is already full. This will save you time too. Instead of spending precious seconds weighing other dates, you already have shortlisted the most convenient dates for you.
• Decide quickly. Again, you are beating time here, so you must be decisive because slots can be taken in a snap. You see the date you want is still available one minute, but then it’s gone the next. Afternoon schedules are usually the first to get filled.
• Refresh the page. There are times when available slots pop out of nowhere. Well, these might be those slots reserved for applicants who failed to pay within the allotted time period.
• Check the site regularly. As much as possible, the DFA opens additional slots daily. The system refreshes regularly, so check the site from time to time for possible additional slots.
• Try searching at around these times: 6AM – 8AM, 12NN, and 9PM. Available slots usually appear at these times, from Mondays to Saturdays (except holidays).
• Search other DFA branches/offices. There are six (6) branches in Manila: DFA Central (ASEANA), DFA NCR North (Robinsons Novaliches), DFA NCR Northeast (Alimall), DFA NCR West (SM Manila), DFA NCR East (Megamall), and DFA NCR South (Alabang). However, these NCR branches run out of slots real quick. If you desperately need to renew your passport, you may try looking at regional branches/offices.

UPDATE: In addition to the regular processing sites, the DFA has set up Temporary Off-site Passport Service (TOPS) facilities within Metro Manila that can process passport applications. These are: – Robinsons Las Pinas – Robinsons Magnolia, Quezon City – SM Aura, Taguig – SM Mall of Asia, Pasay – SM North EDSA, Quezon City But certain restrictions apply. Passports processed at any of these TOPS sites will be shipped via courier, adding an extra 3 to 5 working days. Payment for TOPS is via CREDIT CARD or DEBIT CARD ONLY! Make sure you have your card with you when you start the appointment process.

When you get a slot, you need to finish the next step within 20 minutes or lose that slot.

2. Accomplish the Online Application Form.

After you get a slot, you will be directed to the next step, which is filling out the four-page online application form. Remember, you only have 15-20 minutes to complete this so prepare the following information:

• Personal Information: The first page contains your Personal Information such as Name, Birth Date, Contact Numbers, E-mail Address, etc. For your email address, input your free Gmail account. I tried using my custom email address at first, but I failed to receive a confirmation email that also contains the reference number for paying the passport processing fee. I had to wait for the schedule to expire after 24 hours to try to set an appointment again. On the second try, I used my free Gmail account and immediately got the email confirmation.
• Family Information: The second page requires your Family Information like your Parents’ and Spouse’s names and Citizenship.
• Application Information: The third page is all about your Application Information including Application Type, Citizenship, and Emergency Contact Person and his/her contact number. For the Application Type, choose RENEWAL. For lost or damaged ePassport/non-ePassport, choose NEW APPLICATION.
• Contact Information. The fourth page asks for your home and office addresses and contact numbers.

You will be given time to check all the information you input. Make sure you have no typos and everything is correct.

3. Settle the Processing Fee.

Choose one of the two processing options, depending on what applies to you:

• Regular Processing: This costs P950 and takes 10-15 days in Manila.
• Express Processing: This costs P1200 and takes 5-7 days in Manila.
• Foreign Service Posts: The fee is $60 and takes 28-60 days.

We heard that the processing time in the regional offices takes longer compared to Manila. They say the length of days for processing may take 20-30 days, but we haven’t confirmed this yet.

This is how the payment process goes:

• Select between regular or express processing.
• Then hit PAY NOW .
• A message will pop up. Click the “I agree” box, then hit PROCEED TO PAYMENT .
• You will land on the PAYMENT page where you will see the payment options, the total amount that you need to pay, and some reminders. A convenience fee of P50 per person is normally added on top of the total processing fee amount. Hit PROCEED .
• You will receive an email providing your Payment Reference Number and instructions on how to settle your payment. Hold on to your reference number.
• You need to pay the processing fee within 24 hours. Go to your chosen authorized payment center. You have to secure a copy of your reference number. Make sure you declare and pay the exact total amount.
• After payment, an appointment confirmation will be sent to your email. You will find three files attached to the email: your application form, the receipt, and the checklist. You need to secure a hard copy of each file. Print them all out. Use A4 paper. You need to bring them on the day of your appointment.

– Bayad Center – EcPay – Pera Hub – Robinsons Business Center and Department Stores – Waltermart Department Store – 7-Eleven – USCC (Western Union) – Villarica Pawnshop

• You need to pay the EXACT amount. No more, no less. The payment will not be processed or will be forfeited if it’s not the exact amount.
• You can only use your Reference Number once, meaning one transaction per reference number.
• An additional convenience fee may apply per applicant.
• An additional fee of P350 will be charged for Lost and Mutilated ePassports. Prices may vary for applications filed overseas depending on the foreign service post.
• Lost Valid Passports will need additional 15 business days clearing period.
• There will be no express/expedite processing during Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
• Expect changes in the release date of the passport during the ECQ/MECQ period. The DFA will notify you of any changes to your schedule through email.
• If you encounter any problems regarding payment, contact the DFA helpdesk immediately at (02) 234 3488 or email your concern to [email protected].

In my case, I chose to pay via 7-Eleven. I used one of their in-store electronic machines, chose “bills payment”, and then selected DFA. I input my reference number and the total amount, which includes the P50 convenience fee. I took the printed slip and went to the cashier to pay. That’s it!

4. Head to the DFA Site you picked.

When the date of your appointment finally arrives, you need to appear personally at your chosen DFA office. Don’t forget to bring all the required documents with you, plus the Application Form printout (hard copy), the checklist with your confirmed schedule, and your eReceipt (two copies).

• Don’t be late. Be there at least 30 minutes before you confirmed schedule. Those who arrive late for their appointment will not be accommodated.
• Make sure to bring all the requirements — both the original and the photocopies.
• The DFA implements a “No Escort” policy. Companions, who are not applicants, are not permitted within the DFA premises UNLESS they are the guardian of a minor or they are assisting a person with special needs.
• Wear proper attire. The DFA enforces a strict dress code, which prohibits wearing spaghetti straps, sando, plunging neckline, sleeveless top, tube top, halter top, and see-through top. Colored contact lenses, eyeglasses, and accessories like earrings, necklaces, or other facial piercings must be removed during photo capturing.
• Make yourself presentable, looking your best. Remember that your photo will be taken for your passport with 10-year validity, so that image of you will stick with you for a long time. But please avoid applying too much makeup.

For my most recent passport renewal, I was fortunate to get a slot at the branch nearest to where I live — DFA NCR South. My appointment was at 5:00 PM, so I arrived at 4:30 PM. Here’s my experience:

• Document Verification. Even at the entrance, the guard will ask for the checklist with your confirmed schedule. They will check if you bring all the requirements with you. Don’t forget to bring a photocopy of your old passport (renewal) or valid ID (new application).
• Processing. They will review your documents/requirements. When they are done checking, they will stamp your receipt with a date of release. Let them know if you still need your current valid passport for an upcoming trip because this is where they will punch holes on your old passport. The officer asked me first if I will no longer use my old passport before punching holes. But this might not be always the case, some officers might proceed to punch holes if you don’t give them a heads up.
• Data Encoding and Biometrics. This is the part where they will encode your personal information like your name, birth date, and other details. They will give you time to check the encoded details on the computer screen, so check those spelling and typos. After that, they will take your photo, fingerprints, and signature.
• Delivery. This is an additional step for those who want their passports to be delivered instead of personally picking them up at the DFA office. DFA partners with courier and forwarding service companies. I availed of this service and paid the delivery fee of P150. They will take your application receipt and then hand you their own delivery receipt. Expect your passport to arrive one to two days after the scheduled release date. You may skip this part if you want to personally pick up your brand new passport on the scheduled release date.

NOTE: A team member applied at DFA ASEANA. If you are also applying there, some touts will trick you into buying a long brown envelope or ballpen. You do not need them. You can put your documents in a folder or envelope if you want to keep them neat and organized. It won’t hurt also to bring an extra pen just in case.

5. Claim your new passport.

If you did not avail of the passport delivery service, you have to return to the DFA site on the indicated release date of your passport. If there’s a change in the schedule, the DFA will email you in advance.

Make sure you bring your application receipt and other proof like the claim stub, if applicable. Check all the details on your passport before leaving the counter. Make sure your name is not misspelled and there are no typos.

What if you can’t claim the passport yourself?

An immediate family member can claim your passport on your behalf, provided that she has an authorization letter prepared and signed by you and other requirements. An immediate family member can be your mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, or child of legal age. They must bring the following:

• Authorization Letter
• Original Receipt
• Applicant’s Valid ID (original and photocopy)
• Representative’s Valid ID (original and photocopy)

What if the only person available on your behalf is not an immediate family member?

If no immediate family can claim it for you, the person must bring the following:

• A Special Power of Attorney

What are the acceptable ids.

Any of the following Valid IDs:

• Social Security System (SSS) Card

How early can I renew my passport?

You can apply for passport renewal as early as one (1) year before expiry.

The Bureau of Immigration requires passport validity of at least six (6) months to allow you to exit the Philippines and travel abroad. If you have immediate plans to travel out of the country, it’s safer to renew your passport one (1) year before expiry because securing a slot through an online appointment is quite challenging.

I still have valid visas in my old passport. Can I still use them after I renew?

I personally experienced this. I had a multiple entry visa in my old passport and I didn’t encounter any problems when I presented my old passport (with punch holes and valid visa) to the Immigration Officers both here and abroad. They will just check the valid visa in my old passport and the bio page of the new passport.

Can I apply in the province even if I’m not a resident there?

Does everyone need to get an appointment before applying.

• Senior citizen and 1 companion. The companion must be an immediate family member. If not, the companion must show proof of travel arrangements with the senior to show they’re traveling together. It can be a plane ticket or hotel booking.
• Person with disability and 1 companion. Companion must be an immediate family member. If not, the companion must show proof of travel arrangements to prove that they’re traveling together. It can be a plane ticket or hotel booking.
• Pregnant woman. A medical certificate or records must be presented if the baby bump is not yet noticeable.
• Minor seven (7) years old or below , plus their parents and minor siblings.
• Solo parent and their minor child. The parent must present a valid solo parent card.
• OFWs: Land-based and Sea-farers. Must bring any of the following: valid iDOLE card, work visa, employment contract, or seaman’s book stamped at international border less than 365 days from date of application.

However, since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, walk-in services are suspended until further notice. This is to manage and control foot traffic. Those who are eligible to use the courtesy lane are also required to book an appointment online.

I didn’t get an email when I secured an appointment so I don’t know my reference number. What should I do?

First, check your Spam or Junk folder. Still can’t find it there? You may try this:

Go to passport.gov.ph then click “View Appointment”. You need to provide your appointment code, which is your payment transaction code. And then, enter your email address. Check your email for the confirmation and the forms you need. This one is based on the recent experience of my friend Mai Tendero .

You may also call the DFA hotline (02) 556-0000 or (02) 234 3488 OR email your concern to [email protected].

If you have to do the whole appointment process again, make sure that you are using a free Gmail account next time.

Can I reserve multiple appointment slots for myself just in case I change my mind?

NO. If you have an existing application, the system will tag another attempt to get a slot under your name as an ERROR.

The only way for you to reserve anew is to CANCEL the first/existing one.

I can’t make it on my appointment schedule. What can I do?

You have the option to either RESCHEDULE. However, changes must be made at least three (3) working days before your schedule. If you fail to do this, the system will mark and penalize you.

If rescheduling isn’t an option, you can also CANCEL your appointment and do the whole process over again.

How to reschedule my appointment?

Go to this page , and then click on View Appointment. Input your Appointment Code and your email address, then click on View Details. Once logged in, choose RESCHEDULE .

You should be able to do this no later than 3 days before your original schedule. The rescheduled date must be within 30 days of the original date.

I missed my appointment. What can I do?

Wait 30 days. There is nothing else you can do if you didn’t show up on your appointment schedule.

As a penalty for “No Show” applicants, you have to wait for 30 days to make another appointment.

I found an error on the application form. Can I still change it?

Yes, but NOT online. You can correct it at the DFA office on your appointment schedule. Remember that during the data encoding stage, you will be asked to check and review the information entered by the officer. This is your chance to correct the mistake or misspelling.

What should I work on first if I need to get a DSWD Clearance, passport, and visa for a minor?

Here’s the correct order: DSWD Clearance first, then Passport next, and finally, Visa.

The reason is: DSWD Clearance is a requirement when applying for a passport for a minor. And a passport is a requirement when applying for a visa.

Do I really need to appear personally at the passport site?

YES. Your photograph, signature, and biometrics will be taken, so your physical presence at the DFA office is a must.

How long does the application process take?

We’ve renewed passport at these DFA offices: Megamall, ASEANA, Alabang, and Lipa. Based on our experience, it took us roughly an hour — from document verification to availing of the delivery service.

Hi Chona, according to my teammate who applied this year, social/physical distancing was strictly observed and kaunti lang sila sa time slot assigned to them. There were also alcohol stations around. They applied sa DFA Lipa, though, not in Manila.

They didn’t notice if they disinfected the area after every use.

Basically, the requirements are pretty much the same as New Application but the key difference is, instead of birth certificate, yung old passport ang isusubmit.

Hi, my fiance has a k1 visa interview on nov 4, but his passport is expiring on feb 6 2022. We were advised by our atty to wait until he’s done with interview. My question is, if my fiance gets an appointment for passport renewal before his k1 visa interview, can he still keep the old passport so he can bring it on the day of his interview and would the passport be valid still? Moreover, since there’s a pandemic, would the release of the passport be delayed? I really hope not, as we plan to travel together to the US in Jan 2022, if his visa is approved. Hi Jaja, I think it was just worded poorly. I think it’d be clearer pag ganito: “If you have paid for courier delivery online during the SCHEDULING process, your current passport will be cancelled on your appointment date.”

How I understood this, if you choose courier delivery, they MUST cancel your current passport when you show up at the DFA site because they will have no other opportunity to do so otherwise. (That’s also what they told me the last time I applied. They had to punch holes in my current passport right then and there at the DFA site.)

As opposed to: if you choose to pick up your new passport at the site, the cancellation of your current passport can be delayed to the PICKUP DATE instead of the appointment date. This way, your current passport will still be valid until you pick up your new passport.

Hello, Wanted to ask if you tried asking not to punch holes on your current passport with visas? From my experience 5 years ago (Renewal with Visa) they did not punch holes due to the US Visa still valid for 3 years. Now my current passport has another US Visa for the next 10 years and I have found out that DFA now punches holes regardless of whether the passport has any visa attached to it. My concern is due to US Visa becoming no longer valid when tampered with (Punching holes by the DFA is considered tampering by them). My Mom experienced this personally as DFA punched holes upon renewal on her passport without her knowing. When she asked DFA personnel if visa will be valid they do not know. She was requested to apply for another visa when she tried to use her existing visa on old punched passport. So do you know anyone/experiences who requested not to have their existing passports with valid visas punched?

What I can do if I didn’t know my appointment code when I clicking accidentally the back button everything changes while reading the mode of payment. So that I can print the Filled forms and pay.

Verify ko lang if needed ba talaga ng iba pang ID (original and photocopy) e renewal lang naman ang lakad ko, masama neto may appointment na ako at bayad na sa 12/29/2022.

Di naman po kailangan ng additional ID usually. Yung ID po ay para sa mga non-Epassport lang po.

Normally po hindi kailangan ang NBI clearance. Unless you fall under one of the few special circumstances na required ‘yun (as stated sa post).

Hi Nats, the delivery fee is not yet included dun sa P1200. The additional P250 is only for express processing na mas mabilis compared sa regular processing.

The delivery fee costs extra pa. (Price depends on the courier service na available sa site yata. But sa last experience namin, we paid an additional P150.) May separate booth sila after magpicture and fingerprints.

just went to Cubao earlier with my daughter for our appointmment. I am surprised how smooth the process was and there wasn’t even people waiting outside of the office, once we arrived 2:30pm (our time was 3pm) once the guard inspected our papers we were immediately told to go inside for step 1 because there were only a few being attended. On the summary, we only took 15-20 mins to finish the whole process. a breakthrough from 2017 when processing was still quite slow 1 hour is not enough. Good job guys on DFA Alimall ;)

Afaik, no need po. Your current ePassport serves as your ID. Just bring the original and a photocopy of it. Along with the docs emailed to you.

The renewal process took only less than 10 minutes (this was in Robinson’s Novaliches), with no hassle, and the passport was also delivered in 10 days (this is via regular processing). Although, this may vary on different branches.

Entry requirements.

This information is for people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK. It is based on the UK government’s understanding of the Philippines’ rules for the most common types of travel.

The authorities in the Philippines set and enforce entry rules. If you’re not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the  Philippine Embassy in the UK .

Philippines e-travel system

You must register with the ‘e-travel’ system before boarding your flight to the Philippines. You can register up to 72 hours before departure.

COVID-19 rules

There are no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering the Philippines.

Passport validity requirements

To enter the Philippines, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements.  Renew your passport  if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

Visa requirements

You can visit the Philippines without a visa for tourism or business for up to 30 days.

Some airlines will not carry you if you cannot produce your departure ticket and show the QR code issued by the e-travel system .   

To enter the Philippines as a visitor, you must have a ticket for your return or onward travel.

To stay more than 30 days, you can apply for an extension when you are in the Philippines. If you overstay any visa without authority, it is a serious matter. You could face fees and fines, and detention if you cannot pay them, or you could be deported at your own expense.

If you want a visa to live, work, or study in the Philippines, you’ll need to meet the requirements of the  Philippine immigration regulations . This includes having certain UK documents (birth certificates, marriage certificates, UK police certificates and school documents)  legalised by the Legalisation Office  (not by the Philippine Embassy in London).  

Children travelling without their parents

If your non-Filipino children aged 14 or under are travelling without either parent, you must apply for a  waiver of exclusion ground for entry into the Philippines.     

Vaccine requirements

To enter the Philippines, you must have certificates to prove you’ve had:

• a yellow fever vaccination if you’re coming from a country listed as a transmission risk
• a polio   vaccine if you are coming from certain countries with a transmission risk

Customs rules

There are strict rules about  goods you can take into or out of the Philippines . You must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

Taking money into the Philippines 

You cannot take in more than 50,000 Philippine pesos.

If you are bringing in foreign currency (cash or cheques) worth more than 10,000 US dollars, you must declare it on your foreign currency declaration form on arrival.

Exit requirements

If you have stayed in the Philippines for 6 months or more on a tourist visa, you must get an  emigration clearance certificate  ( ECC ) during the 72 hours before you leave the country.    

If you were in the Philippines on a visa issued by the Department of Justice ( DoJ ), the Board of Investments ( BoI ), the Philippine Retirement Authority ( PRA ) or the Philippine Economic Zone Authority ( PEZA ), you will need a travel pass from the department that issued your visa to leave the Philippines. If you have an  ECC , you do not need a travel pass.

Airport tax

If you’re leaving the country from Cebu Mactan airport, you must pay a departure tax of 850 Philippine pesos in local currency or the equivalent in US dollars. There’s no longer a departure tax at Manila airport. This information can change and you should check with your airline before you travel.

Do I Need Vaccines for Philippines?

Yes, some vaccines are recommended or required for Philippines. The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for Philippines: typhoid , hepatitis A , polio , yellow fever , Japanese encephalitis , chikungunya , rabies , hepatitis B , influenza , COVID-19 , pneumonia , meningitis , chickenpox , shingles , Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) .

• Typhoid – Food & Water – Shot lasts 2 years. Oral vaccine lasts 5 years, must be able to swallow pills. Oral doses must be kept in refrigerator.
• Hepatitis A – Food & Water – Recommended for most travelers.
• Polio – Food & Water – Due to an increase in cases globally, an additional adult booster is recommended for most travelers to any destination.
• Yellow Fever – Mosquito – Required if traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
• Japanese Encephalitis – Mosquito – Recommended depending on itinerary and activities. May be given to short- and extended-stay travelers, recurrent travelers and travel to rural areas. Present throughout country. Most cases from April to August.
• Chikungunya – Mosquito – Active transmission is reported in the region but is uncommon. Travelers to more rural regions should be vaccinated.
• Rabies – Saliva of Infected Animals – High risk country. Vaccine recommended for long-term travelers and those who may come in contact with animals.
• Hepatitis B – Blood & Body Fluids – Recommended for travelers to most regions.
• Influenza – Airborne – Vaccine components change annually.
• COVID-19 – Airborne – Recommended for travel to all regions, both foreign and domestic.
• Pneumonia – Airborne – Two vaccines given separately. All 65+ or immunocompromised should receive both.
• Meningitis – Direct Contact & Airborne – Given to anyone unvaccinated or at an increased risk, especially students.
• Chickenpox – Direct Contact & Airborne – Given to those unvaccinated that did not have chickenpox.
• Shingles – Direct Contact – Vaccine can still be given if you have had shingles.
• Polio – Food & Water – Considered a routine vaccination for most travel itineraries. Single adult booster recommended.
• TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis) – Wounds & Airborne – Only one adult booster of pertussis required.
• Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) – Various Vectors – Given to anyone unvaccinated and/or born after 1957. One time adult booster recommended.

Specific Vaccine Information

• Typhoid – Typhoid, caused by Salmonella Typhi, is primarily transmitted through tainted food and water. Protection against this disease involves vaccination combined with good hygiene and careful food consumption.
• Hepatitis A – Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus, typically spreading through contaminated food or water, or close contact with an infected person. Symptoms can include fatigue, nausea, stomach pain, and jaundice. The hepatitis A vaccine is a safe and effective shot that provides immunity against the virus, usually given in two doses.
• Japanese Encephalitis – Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne viral infection affecting the brain, prevalent in rural Asia. It can cause neurological symptoms and, in severe cases, death. The Japanese encephalitis vaccine, administered via injection, effectively prevents the virus, recommended for people living in or traveling to endemic areas.
• Chikungunya – Chikungunya, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, can be prevented through measures like mosquito repellent use. Vaccination provides the best form of protection.
• Rabies – Rabies is a lethal disease transmitted through the saliva of infected animals, and vaccination is the key to prevention. Pre-exposure vaccination is advised for individuals at risk, and immediate post-exposure vaccination is crucial if one encounters a potentially rabid animal.
• Hepatitis B – Hepatitis B, a liver infection spread through bodily fluids, poses a significant health risk. Safe practices help, but vaccination is the ultimate safeguard. It prompts the immune system to produce antibodies, ensuring strong and persistent protection.
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – Measles, mumps, and rubella are contagious diseases transmitted via respiratory droplets and touch. Preventing these illnesses is primarily achieved through vaccination, using the MMR vaccine. It’s administered in two doses and provides immunity against all three viruses.

Malaria in Philippines

Malaria is present on Palawan and Mindanao islands. No malaria transmission is reported in Manila or other urban areas at this time. Antimalarials is recommended for travel to rural areas. Atovaquone, doxycycline, mefloquine and tafenoquine are the most commonly recommended antimalarials for the region. Note, chloroquine resistant malaria is present in the Philippines.

Japanese encephalitis vaccines are mandatory for those living in rural areas, hiking or camping. Those that plan to stay longer than a month should consider getting vaccinated.

Tuberculosis is found in some parts of the Philippines. If you believe you have been exposed, contact a healthcare provider and schedule a TB test as soon as possible.

Foreigners applying for the eTA Philippines from Canada do not need to make an in-person visit to an embassy or consulate to submit their application, making the process quick and straightforward.

Do Canadian Citizens Need a Visa for the Philippines?

When deciding whether to apply for a Philippines eTA for Canadians or a visa for the Philippines , travelers should determine the purpose of their visit .

Those Canadian nationals who intend to visit the Philippines temporarily for non-tourism purposes (business, work, study, etc.) will need to apply for any of a number of visas to the Philippines in the non-immigrant category .

Furthermore, Canadians should bring both an electronic and a physical copy of their eTA approval email to their port of entry of choice in the Philippines, as they may be required to produce these items for Philippine immigration officers.

Canadians who submit their applications successfully will receive a UID or Unique Identification Number . Group applications receive one UID, which is assigned to the primary applicant representing the group.

How long before Canadians get their eTA to the Philippines?

It generally takes around 3 business days for a Philippines eTA application to be processed. However, some reviews of the visa waiver for Canadians may take longer due to processing issues.

To avoid delays, it is recommended that travelers from Canada submit their applications for the Philippines’ eTA well in advance of their planned travel date.

When you get a new passport , there’s not a lot about the finished product that you can control. If you’re an American citizen , it’s going to be navy blue. This head-on image cannot have filters. Once taken, it must be printed on photo-quality paper that is two inches long and two inches wide, a perfect square. Your face (from the tip of the chin to crown of the head) must account for between one inch and one inch and three-eighths of the image. It must be color photography.

Other requirements

The photograph must have been taken of you within the past six months—really, there’s little to no reason not to have it taken in the immediate lead-up to renewal. This requirement exists to ensure your photo reflects your “current” appearance. To make sure you can be easily identified from your photo, you must have a neutral facial expression (soft smiles only, hide those pearly whites for now) and you cannot be wearing glasses or a hat of any kind. It is also best to dress demurely —think solid colors and classic necklines. No chunky jewelry above the neck, no headphones , no nothing. Whatever is out of frame might as well not exist—what’s going on from the waist down is irrelevant and entirely your business.

Where to get your passport photo taken

It’s entirely possible to take your passport photo at home—have a friend or lover shoot the pic and print it yourself. As mentioned above, though, there’s a huge margin for error here from the image making itself to the subsequent printing and sizing. For First-Time Passport Applicants

To apply for a passport, you’ll need to gather the following documents:

• Proof of U.S. citizenship (like a birth certificate or naturalization certificate)
• Government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or military ID)
• A passport photo that meets specific requirements

Next, if you’re a first-time applicant, you’ll need to complete Form DS-11. You can submit your application at any passport acceptance facility, such as post offices or designated government offices. Remember to bring your documents, photo, and application fee.

Understanding Top Photo Error Messages

There are several reasons why you may be receiving this error message. Please make sure you upload a new photo that includes:

• A plain background with no texture, lines, or objects
• White or off-white background without shadows
• Space above and below your head including part of your torso to allow for cropping by our photo tool

Image compressed

We need you to upload a new photo that has a higher resolution, is not grainy or pixelated, and is not compressed. Compression means the file size is too small with respect to the pixel dimensions. A photo may become compressed if it is edited after it is taken. Improve the resolution of your photo by changing the settings on your camera.

When saving and emailing your photo, select the highest quality setting (large file size). Do not edit or change your photo using software or a mobile app. To avoid compressing your image, do not send the image via text message.

Expression may be unnatural

Our photo tool detected that your expression may be unnatural. Make sure your eyes are open and your mouth is closed. 

Head size or position may be incorrect

We need you to upload a new photo because the size and position of your head is not acceptable for a passport. If the person taking your photo is standing too close or too far away, your head may not be the correct size. 

Please make sure there is lots of space around your head and shoulders when you upload your photo. Our photo tool will crop your photo into the correct dimensions. 

Image quality may be poor

This message means your photo may be blurry or out of focus. Your photo may have a low resolution and file size, it may be grainy and pixelated, or it may lack clarity. Please upload a new photo with a larger file size and resolution.

Lighting or exposure may be incorrect

There are several reasons why you may be receiving this error message. Please make sure you upload a new photo that is not overexposed or underexposed.

Underexposure happens when a photo appears to be darker than neutral exposure. Overexposure happens when a photo is too bright or appears washed out.
